Account Merging

Hi fellow League of Legends players. I've come to you with a plea, a thought, and hopefully a feature that the majority of players would be interested in being a reality. I created my very first account close to 10 years ago, and enjoyed the game immensely since then, even more now than ever before. Despite the disagreements there might have been between the game's developers, and its players, there is no denying that Riot have done great things with League of Legends, and pushed the moba franchise to new heights, with their brilliant innovation of both champion design, and extraordinary game play, that have brought millions of people together, for good and bad, League of Legends is a game in which the rewards for a calculated and coordinated team work bring out that exhilarating feeling of success, a feeling best shared with friends.

League of Legends is a game for everyone, no matter your age, your ethnicity, your beliefs, or your level of skill. However i'm fully aware that the competition in League of Legends is very real, and I've been fan of the various LCS throughout the summer, and I even got up early to watch the World Finals, hopefully to see newly crowned European champions, regardless of the outcome, I enjoyed the games a lot.

After a prolonged break from the game, I thought to myself, that creating a new account and start on a fresh, would be a fitting way of getting back into the routine, and learn the fundamentals of League of Legends from scratch, would be the best way to be a part of its player base once more, without harming the amount of time and work I poured into my first account. In my journey from a noob to a somewhat knowledgeable player, I met other players and therefore decided to stay a while, and my intentions shifted, from learning the basics, to actually staying on this additional learning account, in an effort to spend more time with these new found friends.

Like any other true gamer, i knew very well that the cosmetic of a your favourite champion, definitely play a role in how well you play it, and because of that I spent quite a lot money on it. Recently contact with my new found friends, have been few and far between, and at the same time my old team, on my origin region, have gotten back together in an effort to take the new season with storm, and luckily I've been invited to be a part of this sensation.

Which brings me to my point. I want to create a petition to bring back account merging. I want the resources i used on my new account, to be a part of my old and first account. I submitted a ticket, requesting help with this issue, and this was the reply:

"Ah, damn.. sorry I won't be able to give you some news, mate, but account merging isn't something we can do anymore. :( We used to be able to, quite some time ago, but we no longer have that option. I know it sucks to have content you like on two accounts, I truly do, but there's really nothing I can do in this situation, as we can't otherwise transfer content between accounts.

"So, yeah... sorry again that I wasn't able to give you a hand with this. But if there's anything else I can do for you, let me know. Wish you a great Sunday!"

So to clarify it is a feature they used to be able to help us out with, and not entirely out of the realm of possibility, and i know if we unite, and spark interest enough throughout the community, it is a feature we are able to bring back. Hopefully this will motivate others to step up and raise your voice, and bring back this service to the players.

Thank you for your time. Have a great Sunday. Bullermus

This is the first I've heard of account merging. How does it work and what is the requirements for it? Like your RP and skins and champs and IP get added ON TOP of what you have on another account?

To clear something up: Merging accounts was a one-time thing they did for a very specific reason only. Also worth pointing out is that they did this manually. Offering this service the same way as they did back then would be overkill on support.

Anyway, if you are interested in why this was such a huge exception: Originally Riot didn't handle the EU servers themselves, and as a result they were kinda shitty. As one example: The EU servers were always a couple patches behind the NA server for no apparent reason. As a result a lot of European players actually preferred playing on the NA server. Then, when Riot took over the EU servers and brought them up to speed, people obviously wanted to switch back because of lower pings. Not wanting to throw away all the stuff they acquired on their main account, people asked for the ability to transfer their account to another server. Riot then made the terrible decision to declare, officially, that there would never be a possibility to do that.

That's why, after Riot then eventually did offer the option to transfer accounts, the only way to minimize backlash by those who started fresh accounts already was to offer to merge those specific accounts.

In short: Account merging was Riot's way of fixing their own fuckup. Nothing more.
