Its getting to be frustrating the amount of players that ridicule the report system, and how useless its becoming. more and more players don't even care bout being reported anymore. making the community worst by the day. You guys had the tribunal and it was working, but its been almost 2 years and there's no sing of it coming back. are you guys even bothered by the amount of toxic players now? lol..

TLDR: Yes.

Think about it this way: Every game you play, you are seeing a random sample of nine other players. Each of these players is at varying degrees of account status, and they each have their own functional graphs of toxicity. The toxic person you find in one of your games that's talking about how useless the report system is could either just be frustrated (a rare occurrence for that player) or be about to get banned and have no idea since it hasn't happened yet.

There's just no way to know the status of other players based on a single game, it's derived from historical and future behavior. What I CAN tell you is that the report system definitely works, it can just be a bit frustrating for us to not be able to see it working. Does that make sense?

Yes and no.

According to riot the system is "working as intended" but as a general player it's not working as it's intended.

Reason being, People can report you for anything, you get a warning pop up and now you're scared that your account will get banned because you said fuck or shit, or even popping up when you haven't said anything all game (I've had this exact scenario happen to me in a couple of games over the past few days where I've said nothing and been told I've been reported for offensive language.. Didn't know calling Mid, Jungle, or ADC was considered offensive in blind pick)

Also, we as the player are not adequately informed when our report helps punish as the "someone has been punished by your report" message only pops up if YOUR report triggers it, even if say you and your team all reported that player who called your yi a insert racial and homophobic line here.

To top it off, even if we block someone who has been extremely toxic, riot will still match you up with these players..

I think riot needs to stop their 4 strike system right now until they figure out a way to be more effective, honest, and more open with their players about the reporting system and to let players know when they've been falsely reported, or how a false report affects your account.

Search "Banned" on the forums... literally several threads a day about players complaining about their bans. Tribunal would have up to two WEEKS of lag time... meaning toxic players could be horrible in games and not be punished for weeks after the infractions occurred, so not sure what you mean by the tribunal was working. New system is dispassionate, black and white - reported; log is examined, punishment follows. A lot better than having some players, who could themselves be toxic, entering judgements.

I see either a rager, a flamer, a blamer that turns non-coop for the team, an intentional feeder or a flat out troll in almost every game I play. (Not exaggerating)

HERE IS THE SOLUTION: A player added to your block list will never appear on your team again

I report it sometimes (used to be every time) but I know not many do, especially the "winning" team (they know it report worthy but just don't bother because, hey, they won so YAY) simply because it is felt nothing is done about it.

Plus, the Tribunal or whatever it's called these days would actually have to watch the game, and/or pre chat, AND/OR post chat to see what happened...Are you telling me RIOT has staff to do that??? Sure, I could write a super detailed description in the box pointing to the exact time and quote and situation, but....How LONG do you expect one to spend writing??? And for almost every game??? That's another reason why people don't bother... **

If something WAS being done, then how is there the same troll in so many of my games? Why is there so many trolls in almost all my games?**

Not talking about a bad player or someone having a bad game, that's not report worthy. "Bad" language doesn't bother me either unless it's the ragekid flaming...Hell, even if someone is "going solo", that's not really reportable imo (devour jg always gets yelled at for no ganks).

It's the actual TROLLS the I see so frequently the leads me to believe RIOT is doing nothing about it.

Plus the trolls, and non-trolls tbh, actually reporting just anything thus flooding the system and making it more difficult to see what is actually "punishable" - as if RIOT actually does anything to begin with...(Seriously...Reporting for "Unskilled"??? Oh that's about 90% of us if we want to be honest...)

It's just too much for RIOT to handle and the trolls know it. I mute, I'm good at ignoring, I'm pretty good at deflating situations in game before a player(s) gets full rage-tilt and I'm don't report every little nitpicky thing but STILL I catch myself getting thrown by it because as stated before: There's a troll in almost EVERY game! I even turn INTO a "rager" every so often because of it and I get even more mad at myself because of it.

Seriously RIOT, THIS IS THE SOLUTION! A player added to your block list will never appear on your team again

Problem solved.

I understand it doesn't work overnight and all, but for someone that's been here since beta, it kills me to see how the community has been lately compared to what it used to be. its upsetting. But hopefully it'll keep improving ..

Tenzosan1/8/2016, 7:09:56 PM2 votes

The system is working... It just isn't able to clean out the toxicity overnight. You may not see the difference but trust me it's there. Give it time, the system will filter out the bad players and send them back to low levels (new accounts) and your games will see an improvement.

couldn't have said it better myself

Linna Excel1/8/2016, 6:16:05 PM1 votes

I'm not sure of all the details but the auto-system searches for keywords and if it doesn't find any to auto-ban you with, it gets put in a file for someone to look at when the file gets big enough.

Wolfenstin1/8/2016, 9:27:15 PM1 votes

It's a big playerbase, you're always probably going to run into one or two undesirable players. The system works, but it ain't no pokemon master, it can't catch em all.

Troll Armada1/8/2016, 10:26:44 PM1 votes

With regards to verbal abuse and afk's, yes in general.

With regards to player behavior, probably no. (my opinion.)

The toxic players in this game depress me and make me want to uninstall probably my favorite game. Its not fair to have to decide that but Riot makes that decision for me by allowing this game to become enjoyable with the continued allowance of any type of player behavior.

How about getting rid of the tribunal system and let the players have a blacklist that once another player is on your blacklist you dont que with them ever again unless you take them off would work so much faster as the more you are blacklisted the longer your que times are and eventually said blacklisted person wont want to wait 20-30 mins for a que or something along those lines

I definitely agree with this

I just got banned today for the first time ever after playing for a year. I understand I can get mad at times and due to the fact that I am trying to get out low elo and it definitely can be rage inducing. However, if I get back on topic I have been reported a lot of times for saying the stuff our typical silver players say. "Report thresh plz, afk." "Report X intentional feed." "Wow you guys are so f**cking bad." etc. However I never really did anything about being reported. I have a friend who thinks its funny to report me after our games we play and nothing ever happened. To be honest I probably should have been banned much, much earlier.

If the report system was fully functional I would be a completely different player from what I am right now due to the fact that I would have been banned previously. Sometimes I actually PURPOSEfully flamed my team in hopes of getting chat restricted, because I figured if I wasn't typing in chat then I would be able to climb elo. But that's a whole other story.

Anyway, I definitely agree. The report system needs some tweaks.

No. It's literally 99% automated. I mean that. Nobody reads the reports except in probably 1 in 100,000 cases. That's being generous, submit a ticket and you'll see that they don't even read those. I'd believe some script was answering them. In every ticket I've submitted, I've gotten canned responses that matched certain keywords and the main questions are never answered.

Riot is "trying" not sure what they mean by that, but from personal experiences (3 years) they're not doing enough. The Tribunal is supposed to be coming back Q1 or Q2 this year, but if you think the last tribunal was working then you weren't on it long enough. Most of the cases in the Tribunal were 6 months behind. (Yep, I was on the tribunal too... most of us included a date in the report and when you see 3 or 4 of the same dates in the reports you tend to believe it.)

And one last note, no I'm not some toxic player (have had a ribbon for 3 years) I'm just disgusted by the lack of effort on Riot's part to do anything about the problem. There are solutions out there, they just don't want to implement them. This whole 4-5 strikes until you're out doesn't work.

Çhåryzård1/10/2016, 5:46:23 AM1 votes

Well I mean, I've already gotten a message twice saying people were punished right after I reported them so idk how well it is working but it's doing something

PowderToast1/10/2016, 5:49:24 AM1 votes

they don't care and then they wake up one day to log in and ... "banned until 2030"

xzodas1/8/2016, 6:59:24 PM1 votes

okay well have players that are banned, and yet we have those that constantly prove that to be wrong. multiple people for ever say how they always get a notification for being reported yet, they don't get punished. how does that even work? i get we have a lot of people that play, a lot that get reported, but it seems lately the amount of people getting reported and not banned are increasing instead of decreasing. it

LaoBushido1/8/2016, 6:23:55 PM1 votes

One they said the will work on a new tribunal after the new champ select. Two I personally think it is working out well I see "false bans" threads here every day that is a sign it is working to me

TrulyBland1/8/2016, 6:21:39 PM1 votes

Actually, when looking at verbal stuff, the current system is faster, less lenient, and has roughly the same false positive rate, when compared to Tribunal (if I remember Tribunal's accuracy correctly... but should be in the same ballpark). Tribunal was working... but it was working really really slow, and only caught the worst offenders moost of the worst offenders.
