Post-Game got reported for trying to do the right thing: defending for a teammate.

I had an ARAM game where I was playing Maokai and my friend was playing Malzahar but she had client issues, in which I have zero problems because no one's computer is perfect to run League.

However, my team's Karma and Nidalee decided to berate Malz via Karma using the Win97 joke to make fun of someone whose computer is not fit to run League.

As the game progressed, the enemy team's Jinx decides to insult the university I had attended (which was also my club tag), and everyone on the opposing team, as well as Karma and Nidalee, decided to all report me when all I did was defend for the Malzahar.

Has some members of the community would really stoop so low as to report someone for trying to do the right thing? I seriously don't understand the mindset of these people sometimes.

You can get reported for anything. The thing is was it "punishable". Reports just mean the system looks at your chat logs (For verbal toxicity). If you defended your teammate in an adult and mature manner then you should be fine. If you sunk to their level and was cursing/insulting/ or otherwise verbally abusing then it's punishable. That goes beyond just defending someone.

What's funny is that's how I got my recent chat restriction a few days ago. Someone went off on my team and I was dumb and repeated what they called my team (hate speech) and boom, chat restriction because I had a moment of lapse judgement. So now, I'm unable to get mastery tokens til i'm "reformed" which tbh is bullshit considering they are putting random champion tokens in the store in the next patch or two... but riot should honestly look into fixing their behavioral software program to include ALL sides of the conversation...

Guess what, guy who initially said the hate speech, didn't get punished at all.. Welcome to riot's system.

people can report for anything. If you didn't do anything wrong, those reports get thrown out.

Just a question of curiosity: How did you go about doing this?

If you said nothing wrong and you where not trying to insult. degrade, or belittle them. You should be fine because false reports don't count against you, and they actually slightly reduce the value of their future reports.

Defending yourself in a respectful (neutral or positive) manner is fine. Defending yourself in a negative fashion is not. As long as you weren't saying or doing anything that you know will get you in trouble then you'll be just fine.
