Unfair chat restriction for being insulted by other players, logic?

Hi Board,

I just logged in to my account and i got to read the chat and i am have a really hard time comprehending how i got a restriction while i was the one being attacked by the players. I have pasted the chat logs bellow so you can see my unfair chat restriction. If i was insulting people i would just take the punishment and move on, but i can't stress enough how much of an injustice this is, i would love that the chat from the people insulting me would also be shown, but their chat is not sent to me, only my text, which if read alone it can be taken out of context.. So please keep in mind that I was being insulted by these players for having a bad laning phase.

You can see in these chat logs that i am asking them to stop flaming me, i had a bad game where i lost my lane and that was their reason for reporting me, so how i can be punished for having a bad laning phase?

Game 1 and 2 have CERO reasons for my restriction.. game 3 however i agree that i was already irritated by all these people insulting me, specially that one Rakkan player i refer to that was insulting me since the lobby and i just couldn't take it anymore, i had to defend myself, he literally insulted me the whole game nonstop and just because he has a premade i get reported.

PS: I am not asking for people to agree with me nor a reduction in the chat restriction, i am simply sharing my experience with this broken system that punishes unfairly.

i would love that the chat from the people insulting me would also be shown, but their chat is not sent to me, only my text, which if read alone it can be taken out of context..

there is no context in which insulting other players is the correct course of action, regardless what they did to irk your ego

what everyone else said is irrelevant

By out of context, i meant me asking my team and enemy team to report a certain player, you guys only see me asking for report and think i am the toxic one, but what about the people insulting me?

"regardless what they did to irk your ego" - to irk my ego? okay so now is about my ego and not showing the other side of the story, yeah nice logic kiddo, next!

Much as I loathe disagree with The Cream Reaper's generous additions to discussions, they're not playing victim.

They're plain-faced telling you that your attitude - condescendingly calling people "kiddo" as a clear example - is an issue, and that if you don't work on it, you may well end up permabanned.

It's the gender neutral pronoun, so preferred instead of defaulting to he.

@TCR - I think you've gotten your points across.

@Ivalme - Please note that this is the exact type of behavior you displayed in game - you are playing victim, but instead you go on to insult TCR and be rude to them. Censoring yourself with (you can imagine) and saying "you harvest what you sow" don't make it magically okay for you to insult him. While I understand you think he was passive aggressive towards you, that does not allow you to retaliate with aggression at all.

While I'll agree with you that The Cream Reaper can be a bit passive aggressive at times, what they say is completely correct.

It does not matter if others are insulting you, harassing you, or abusing chat - you should mute them and report, not fight back. The second you fight back, ask for reports, and do similar things, you become not the victim of insults/abuse, but the perpetrator.

And asking for reports is 100% utterly useless - one report carries the same weight as 9, so it doesn't matter how many players report them. So long as you report, the game is reviewed.

All 3 games:

Stop saying that you're reporting people and stop asking to have someone reported. It's both unnecessary (it only takes one report for the game to be flagged for the person) and it's just using the system to attack the other person in chat.

You also insulted and belittled Yi in your second game. You already admitted to being rude in your third game outside the report calling.

I believe this verdict to be fair. The report system is not there so you can swing it around in chat. That's just adding more gas to the fire for no other reason than to further aggravate another player.

You use the report system to report people at the end of the game. That's it.

I agree, i learned my lesson i will not ask for report nor report anyone, the system does not work so i won't bother with it anymore.

My "insult" to yi, was a mere reaction to his constant flames, but again, we don't get sent the other player's chat, because it makes it possible for us to make a case and riot wouldn't want that, right?

No, other player's chat isn't shown because those other players don't make you type back. Even back during the Tribunal days, when full chat logs were shown, counterflamers and people who responded to others with negativity for any reason, no matter who started it, were nearly always punished.

Nobody wants to deal with one flamer, let alone two. If your case is "but s/he started it", you don't have a case.

The system doesn't work in the sense that it punishes people that react when being insulted, what kind of logic is that? if you are slapped or insulted in the real world you retaliate right away, why is it that they expect us to act like Jesus in this game? ... Yes, the system can get people banned, that is not an indicative that it works tho! ^^

If I'm insulted in the real world, I laugh it off. If I'm slapped in the real world, I'll do what it takes to get distance from whoever hit me - the most I imagine it'd take is a shove.

But League of Legends isn't the real world. It's a videogame, and you have all the defensive tools available for if someone is flaming you. If they're abusing chat, mute them. If they're abusing pings, pingmute them. If they're (somehow) abusing emotes, emote-mute them.

Retaliating solves nothing, and really only exacerbates the problem. Punishing people who exacerbate problems and make matters worse is, to me, very sound logic.

Is so easy to play the moral high horse online, i can also tell you now that if someone for example touches my gf i will not do anything because that is the right thing to do... yeah no, if someone insults you or touches you irl you will do something about, let us not kid ourselves now.

I understand that real life and the game world are very different, because in the real world people wouldn't have such a big mouth because there are consequences, as oppose to in-game, can't wait till games include camera and voice chat, 100% all these 15 year old keyboard warriors would't be tough.

if you send a ticket and complain about it, riot will read what the others said and tell you something along the lines of "yes. i can see they were toxic too but regardless what other players do or say, you don't have the right to respond in the same manner. the punishment is deserved and will be staying in place"

So herassing teammates calling them noobs low elo kidos is nothing? Also herassment with report calls. 1 report = 9 reports so calling for multiple reports isn´t only pointless but also trying to herass them and making them look worse.

However i do agree with you that asking for a report is pointless and might just get you reported by others, i learnt that now, but how else can you make sure these players get reported if just 1 report does nothing, the more people report the faster that person gets a punishment.

No, 1 report flags the game for review. The IFS reviews the match, and chooses either to flag the match and save it for further reference, punish the player, or disregard the match.

If the chat isn't punishable, but not great either, it's flagged and saved. If the chat is punishable, it punishes the player. If the chat isn't punishable, it disregards the match.

No. Any report past the first is disregarded (potentially barring notes/details), and no amount of reports past the first will give the IFS the impetus to review faster or punish faster.

If a player is reported nine times, the IFS reviews it as though they had only been reported once.

Pointing out that a player is misbehaving and calling for reports against them is harassment, and, generally, getting into a detrimental argument with someone you know is flaming only puts you on the same level as them.

Once again - drawing attention to another player's misbehavior (or, potentially in this case, their poor play) and report calling is harassment. Claiming your team fed the enemies falls into that, too, and calling your opponent (or anyone) "kiddo" is just plain unsportsmanlike.

Again - calling for reports, calling others "kiddo", claiming/pointing out other players' misbehavior, and insulting players based on their elo. All punishable offenses.

The system very, very, very rarely delivers an unjust punishment. This is not one such case. You should consider learning from this to avoid further punishments.

I did learn, i will stop asking for reports and just not say ANYTHING in chat as even saying "kiddo" can get you banned apparently, got that loud and clear thanks!

When someone says "kiddo", there's only two ways it can come out. Affectionately - "great job, kiddo", or condescendingly "get on my level kiddo".

You were clearly doing the latter. You were insulting players using both age (calling them "kiddo") and elo/skill ("low elo noob") to do so.

The message is that i should just be quiet in chat because just ONE report will get you flagged, i will love to get reported in the future and have a chat sent to me that is empty, i wonder how Riot would explain that one :O

If you're reported for chat-related offenses, but don't chat (and therefor don't do any chat related offenses), you won't get punished.

However, there is one case I can think of right off-hand where someone received no chat logs for their punishment - seen here - but the reason they received no chat logs was likely because they were punished for intentionally feeding, and not a chat-related offense.

One report will get you reviewed, but that doesn't mean you'll get punished. If you don't break the rules, the IFS will neither save your matches to detail a history of negativity, nor punish you outright for a severe display.

All said, the message is that you should try to be more sportsmanlike, and do less of calling out/pointing out or calling for reports against other players, for any reason.

Locking this thread. There is a lot of insulting and arguing going on, and it is neither productive or acceptable at this point.
