I just ended up camping him and he got fed enough (and babysat enough) that we won the game.
Anything is possible.

Here's the problem though: you assume that no one is having fun when you don't know for sure that no one is having fun. Unless you ask if everyone is still having fun or not then you don't get to decide on a whim when a game is over or not, especially if you have a high and mighty attitude about it while doing so.

Just stop, this kind of attitude isn't helping your case here at all whatsoever. No one likes playing with a jerk or people who won't surrender when the game is clearly lost. However, doing what you did is not the answer and will only get you punished. From Ulanopo's Knowledge Base:

Yeah, people suck, but this is not something that can be permitted. For one thing, there are other people in the match who will have to suffer both a loss and a jerk. Your staying might prevent the former, so try to stick in there for them. Just employ the standard "mute, report, move on" as best you can.
Remember that we're not supposed to add to toxicity whenever we can. Leaving games adds to toxicity.

In various places where I work, there is a rule that, if someone has a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order, we cannot stop providing emergency care until the paramedics arrive. This is so no one gives up too early. Yeah, it sucks to be giving CPR - including rescue breathing - to someone who has been dead for more than ten minutes, but that's the way it has to be.
Now, obviously, League is not a life-or-death affair, but the principle remains the same. As a matter of policy, no one can give up unless the team votes to surrender. Until then, everyone fights. The alternative is people bailing at the first sign of trouble. We can't have that.
As for punishing an unwillingness to surrender, giving up is a very personal and varied thing. There's nothing wrong with having a different perspective on the matter.

KingWanahakalugi2 votesYour experience in the game matters just as much as anyone else's experience. However, you are not allowed to make anyone's experience worse. With a game where a person has performed poorly, I'm sure none of your teammates were having a fun experience. However, by going AFK you are just adding to the issue and further ruining the experience of the other players. Your experience matters just as much as anyone else's does, but it matters IN the game not outside it. You leave, you're just adding to the fire.

Games have 10 people in them and they end when 1 team surrenders or the nexus dies. You do not get to unilaterally decide when a game is over.

No, we're saying that you're not the leader of the team and you can't decide when a game is over or not. Acting like you're better than everyone else does not help anything and certainly doesn't help make a bad situation better. If you're unwilling to follow the rules like a proper person and be an actual team player then this kind of game is not for you.
