I carry my teammates then get banned for being toxic to the 0/10 trollers trying to lose

Just want to express some frustration I have with Riots dogmatic banning system, and see what you guys think of this. It seems the only thing they care about is whether or not you are "toxic". You can troll your teammates, steal farm, feed 15 kills, never group for team fights or objectives and never be punished for it. By doing this you will be ruining a game for 9 other people. If the game goes on for 40 minutes, and it was completely pointless for 9 people (even the winners don't learn anything or grow/get better, they just get some lp and get worse at the game because they're not being challenged), you essentially just wasted 360 minutes (6 hours) of time for one person. I just got a 2 week ban after flaming the thresh on my team. I was playing shaco jungle, went 8/3/X at like 18 minutes and snowballed all my lanes. We were ready to siege inhibs at this time and close out the game soon after. However, our adc and support decided to afk farm side lanes (not even pushing them just freezing) while the rest of us tried to group, control their jungle, make picks, and get towers. We were all 2-3 lvl ahead with a massive gold lead. We asked thresh and jinx to group or at least push the lanes they were in over and over. Eventually the enemies came back as they won fights 3v5 and made picks/etc while our bot laners were trolling. Then rolled us once the gold gap closed cuz it was 3v5...... At probably the 30 minute mark (40 min game) I started raging at thresh, since he was actually blaming us for losing after trolling the entire game. After the game I got reported for being toxic and then banned and the thresh had nothing happen to him. I really don't understand how riot can seriously think being toxic is worse than trolling/feeding. If you have a toxic player on your team, you can take 2 seconds to mute them. Boom, no more toxic shaco. Is there a button I can press to make my troll thresh stop split pushing and feeding? Nope. I just have to sit in a 40 minute game and watch my time be wasted and my lp drop yet again. I make the enemy master yi go 0/7, win every lane and get my team fed, and then lose because of one or two trolls. I'll even get reported for "toxic" when I carry my teammates and win the game for them despite them going 2/12 at the victory screen. Idk about you guys, but I'd rather have 4 good players on my team who flame, rage, cuss, and bitch in chat all they want. (Of course this wouldn't happen, because 99% good players who flame only flame when they have to deal with trolls/feeders). I can mute them if I don't want to listen to that. I can't get a troll to group with us or stop feeding. To wrap up, I don't think riot SHOULDN'T ban toxic players. I know I deserve to get banned for flaming. However, I'm only ever toxic to people who troll me and waste my time/lp. When I get players who play good, I acknowledge that and encourage them. (Hell, if I ever get someone who knows how gank set up works I add them and duo que afterwards). When I get bad players who are trying to learn, I tell them their mistakes and how to fix them, without being rude or demeaning. The people who make me say toxic stuff in chat are the ones that should be getting perma ranked bans. No one should be allowed to play ranked when they go 0/12 or follow you around the map stealing farm farm you or steal a role that was already taken and force you to play support darius. The way I see it, if this was NORMALS, than yeah, ban ragers, not trolls. People play normals to hve fun and have a good time. But this is RANKED, in ranked, you should ban trolls, and ragers if you want as well, although I dont see why riot can't just perma mute ragers. Ranked exists to be competitive and take the game seriously. Of course people will get incredibly frustrated when they lose a 40 minute game because of one troll.

To wrap up, I don't think riot SHOULDN'T ban toxic players.

You will never win this argument.

Just because you got banned for your behavior doesn't mean that they won't get banned as well. However, it's much harder to prove someone is trolling/feeding than to prove they are toxic.

Honestly, what were you hoping to accomplish by flaming the thresh? Did you think he was going to listen to you after you started being an ass to him? So what's the point of flaming him? You're just giving him the attention he wants. He was probably laughing on his end. Don't give trolls what they want. Trolls hate it when you ignore them even though they are trolling.

You say Riot shouldn't ban toxic players. Sorry bud but Riot's terms of use lay out pretty clearly that they will ban you for toxic language. You agreed to those terms of use every time you click I agree when a new patch comes out. If you don't agree to the terms of use then don't click I agree. I agree that trolling/feeding is a problem but the solution is not to make flaming acceptable. That's like saying "we're having a problem with people raping people in this country, we should legalize murder so people can kill the rapists!"

You also said "people who MAKE me say toxic things in chat." No one makes you do anything. You choose to be toxic. I deal with the same trolls and feeders you do and I don't flame them because there's no point. All that wasted energy could be put towards possibly winning the game. It's your fault that you can't control your emotions in a freaking video game.

Trolls feed off your rage. Stop feeding them or they will never go away.

I'm more interested in how in 4 days you went from Gold 5 to Plat 5 and suddenly had the ability to change what keys your summoners are on. All season your flash is on d, then 6 days ago on a Yasou game you switched to to f. interesting..... And since then the flash key keeps changing between d and f..... MMR raised by over 400 in just 4 days....

Let me get something straight with you. You didn't get banned for "carrying your teammates and being toxic to the 0/10 trollers trying to lose".

You got banned for being toxic in general. This match was simply the straw that broke the camels back. If it wasn't this match it would have been another match.

Try to have fun with the game. After all, it is a game.

Got my second account perma banned. Dunno what else to say to my team when literally everyone has 13+ deaths and under 10 kill participation besides me. Riot games is a joke though, that's why I'm going back to Smite. It's pretty sad when no matter what you do, you get match made with players who are nowhere near your skill then get put up against people who are at your skill and above and are expected to take the loss.

If they're really 0/10 Trolling then you have no reason to flame them. Just ignore them and win the game. Then report after the game. Simple as that.

Guess I'm going to just keep posting this, cause there's a new "Riot only cares about toxic chat" thread every other day... It's originally a response to a thread where somebody was claiming that Riot only cares about chat, as evidenced by the fact they only have an automated system to cover in-game chat, and that non-chat behavior takes longer to see punishment.

It's because of the ease of detection/confirmation. Seriously. They can have automated systems in place that are capable of catching certain toxicity in the chat. And then a case can very easily be made out of player reports for verbal abuse/harassment which can be manually reviewed. These cases just show chat logs and usually generic post-game info (scores, builds, etc.). It's pretty easy to read through several sample chat logs and see that a player is routinely toxic in chat, and hand out a ban for that.

In-game actions are more difficult. Fortunately, they can automatically detect leaves and AFKs (including those who walk in circles in the base to try to evade the system, but don't actually do anything). When players report for other types of in-game behavior, it's a considerably more difficult case for review. From the information that's easily-accessible, you can easily catch the mob boots + 5x zeals Veigar that's 0/15/0 with 2 CS. Cases where a player announces that they're feeding now, and they proceed to die 3 times in the next couple minutes are also pretty straightforward. But more nuanced situations, like an ADC who is 10/3 disagreeing with an action by their allies, and intentionally feeding 3 kills in a row to make a point, though not actually announcing it in chat, is much more difficult to catch. You'd have to basically rewatch entire games to confirm these.

That isn't to say reports for such behavior are meaningless, though. If a player is regularly doing this, and a lot of people report them for it, it will trigger a more in-depth investigation of the player, which will likely lead to eventual punishment. But this relies on consistent negative behavior from that player, as well as consistent reports from others in the game. Preferably with comments providing context to the report so the reviewer knows what to look for.

So you're right, none of that in-game behavior you mentioned is acceptable. It's just more difficult to handle swiftly. That doesn't mean these players are getting away with it.

When will people realize that unless there's big LCS money involved, riot will do nothing to the trolls, intentional feeders, and toxic players in ranked.

Since when is 10/7/4, 2.0:1 KDA "carrying your teammates"?

Your wall of text description says one thing. However, we need to see your logs to do anything.

I sympathize with that crappy situation, but put it into perspective...it was ONE game, if you stayed calm, there's a good chance everyone else would have listens and reported the trolls, and they would be punished, not you.

I know this is why riot needs to change this stupid reporting system.

nGsBeast12/15/2015, 1:24:49 PM1 votes

I don't understand. Riot is so damn harsh with this toxicity system. I would rather have a toxic player who carries and wins the game...no one wants someone who just feeds. Besides...there is a mute button for a reason so I don't understand why players are complaining about toxic players.
