Multiple bans for stupid reasons

Dear Riot, As someone has has multiple accounts in League of Legends, and has had multiple accounts permanently banned, all for the same thing, I have a question to ask you: If you are going to give people the option of muting other people, why in the actual hell would you ban someone for toxic verbal behavior? I'm not saying I'm not toxic, but I sincerely believe that you should not give bans out for toxicity. EVERY player has a mute button for every other player. Nowadays, there are mutes for pings. There are ALWAYS ways to assure that if someone on your team is being toxic, you do NOT have to deal with it. Yet, you still cater to the thin skinned people that are offended by words. Seriously? I sincerely believe that is wrong, and I seriously would like an explanation as to why you have the option of muting people in game, but still dole out punishments for verbal abuse? That is literal stupidity at its finest. People in the game have a way of dealing with toxic people. It's the mute button. It is NOT crying to mommy and daddy. And if people cry to mommy and daddy about toxic people, and mommy and daddy actually DO something about it, then people will learn that crying will get you things, and the last time I checked, that's not how the world works. That's not even how your game works. Untold times, circumstances are unfair. Things are constantly being pitted against you in League of Legends, and its all about DEALING WITH THEM. I sincerely do not understand why you would do this. It makes no sense. It's bad leadership, and as such, I demand an answer. If you cannot give me one, I want my accounts unbanned. I don't care if as a result of toxicity, privileges are taken forever. I don't care if I earn less IP per game. I want my accounts back. And since we all know mommy and daddy would never actually be fair, at least give me a goddamn explanation. Sincerely, Booksmarts

I believe the explanation given was that the mute button exists for those unfortunate enough to be in the same game as the flamer, the permaban is to save others from being in the same game as the flamer.

Yet, you still cater to the thin skinned people that are offended by words.

They cater to the people who play video games as a way to have fun and enjoy themselves, as oppose to catering to the people who play video games to yell at others.

I don't care if as a result of toxicity, privileges are taken forever.

Riot takes away the privilege of playing games with that account. Did you forget that was a privilege?

The mute option takes away from the competitive aspect of the game. By being forced to mute someone, you're ultimately unable to strategize with that person if they were willing to cooperate. (However logically if you're forced to mute them then they have already stated that they won't be cooperating.) League is a team game, if you have to cut out one member of your team, you're already at a severe dissadvantage. This is why games with toxic players on your team are more likely to be losses than wins.

Sincerely,

It helps if you don't think of it as catering to people who are offended by words, since that's not exactly what it is.

It's more that Riot is driving to create an environment that is fun to be in and makes other players want to be a part of it. In general, people avoid entertainment venues where instead of having fun they are routinely attacked, belittled, or insulted. Imagine, if you will, going to a movie theater that encourages people to shout racial slurs at you during the film.

Even if you're not offended it is still distracting, rude, and unwelcoming. You would almost certainly find another theater to attend in the future.

Take me, for example. I don't give a fuck what you call me. I'm not offended by the words you use. I am, however, annoyed that you were actively seeking to destroy my experience at a time when I've chosen to relax and play a fun game of League.

The mute button exists so that players can get a reprieve from those who are trying to destroy their experience. It does not exist to say that the players being toxic are allowed to be. I equate it to having a bulletproof vest colon it helps you survive if someone shoots you, but the fact that you're wearing one does not mean that anyone who goes to shoot you is in the right, or should be immune to punishment. It's a fallback so players don't have to put up with abuse, not a tool that justifies abuse by its existence.

Explanation:

This game is very tense. Having people who insist on complaining about every mistake make the game annoying. If you are really annoying, Riot sends you away. The End.

This is a game. It should be enjoyable. Having annoying yappy dogs who constantly flame ruin that enjoyment.

Love,

EDM.

I think they view it as not everyone is the same age, some players are quite young and under 14, while some players span into 30's.

Allowing players access to younger people who could be deeply affected by toxic behavior of others is one of the risks that Riot faces and so they have a 0 BS policy for poor behavior.

Just imagine a younger player being harassed in a game and the impact it might have. Not everyone is emotionally mature, and some players are just not equipped to properly handle and brush off toxic behavior and so the would sooner say NO to egregious behavior and prevent unfortunate consequences to others who are vulnerable.

Chatlogs? All of this is a blank page to me if you don't include chatlogs.

No matter what anyone says, the question is for Riot, not you. Answer all you want.

Here's an official Rioter response from before that still applies today.

What's the point of having a language filter if I can get banned for 'adult' language? We aren't out to punish players who use adult language; in fact, very few players are ever banned for saying stuff like "f***, I missed that skill shot" or "damn, fing close game!" However, the language filter is not an excuse to verbally abuse someone in the game. When you verbally abuse or harass someone by calling them "fing *****" or "ngger noob", that's when you've crossed the line and will be punished. I've said this before and I'll say it again, we aren't trying to clean online games of adult language; we're trying to reform or get rid of jerks who like to verbally abuse and harass other players.

Why is verbal abuse punishable if there is a mute button/language filter? Players shouldn’t need to rely on features like the mute button or language filter to engage with other players in positive ways. When a player verbally abuses another player and forces him to use the mute button, they have already created a negative experience for that player.

That says it all and if a Rioter responds ehre(highly unlikely) or sends you an email they'll say the same thing. Your choices are keep getting perma'd, learn self control, mute yourself (pry your chat key off or rebind it to something you can't easily hit), or learn to use only the ping system.

Bro, I and THOUSANDS of others feel very similiar. I understand racial slurs, homophobia, and the "omg mommy kys" statements as a banable offense but they ban for just talking shit. Period. Its because as much as they want to deny it, a bot does it for them and they have people come on and defend the bots just to "prove" that the bots work. Im not sorry that calling a person a retard for feeding intentionally, going afk, or deciding that we need 2 adc, 2 apc, no support, or you as the support need the cs is complete and utter bullshit. You cater to the ultra PC not because its right, but because theyre likely to refer their friends, spend money, and bring "positivity" to the environment that is KNOWN for being toxic. If you want to make it less toxic, make it less competetive. Otherwise get real. Do you think proffesional athletes get better with high fives and good jobs alone? Hell no. Its getting their ass handed to them, taking and talking that shit, and LEARNING TO DEAL WITH IT that makes them better. Unfortunately for league we cant have an after game heart to heart in person to show sincerity. Nor do we have refs IN game to regulate. We have algorithm that look for "im tellings" then punish for curse words and caps alone, not reasons for or anything else for that matter. I said fuck you feeder and I get banned, not the feeder that ruined the game for NINE OTHERS. Its a mockery of competetive gaming when you cater to the fools that TRULY ruin the game and go apeshit on those that tilt occasionally trying to preserve the team chances and desire to Truly ADVANCE.

Also they have better stats for number of players, "active" accounts, higher probability of more income via rp, and a constantly refreshing base when they get ban happy. Its not about fair or right, its 100% about numbers and money. Take a look at blue essense rates, money generated from making an account unable to access free content, and all the while "reforming" their image.

All you coattail bobbing babies trying to kiss ass can promptly keep it to yourself. If you have a viable point ill hear it and would be glad to discuss.

Also I play ranked exclusively.. this isnt for arams norms and other casual crap before you go all, "but but the noobies!" If youre in ranked you should be in it to win it. So save the bleeding heart crap for those that arent even 30.****
