Petition: Raise Dodge Penalty to 45 MINUTES on ALL MAPS

Title says it all. Yes, dodging in SR ruins things on a number of levels for players especially those playing ranked. But it is just as equally frustrating for those of us whom main ARAM (yes, we're out there) especially when the Riot gods have smiled upon you and you're actually dished the champion you've been dying to try out, against actual players before diving into SR (YES, I know the gameplay isn't the same but ARAM is a good place to go ham sandwich and try out abilities without getting flamed too hard). I'm not sure of the dodge rate on TT (or if it's even a thing - I haven't played it in 3 years) but for those of us who've been through it, it's not any fun queuing up 3 or 4 times before actually starting a match.

Common excuses:

  • "Sorry gotta dodge. I have to go to work/class/Mars..."
  • "Gotta dodge. Boss is coming." Srsly!?!
  • "Anyone want? I hate this champ!" (no one trades)..."fine, Imma dodge." Yea...the Rage Dodge.

I could go on. None the less, clearly despite being warned, these people continue to suck the life out of a match before it even starts therefore I present this petition to Riot to INCREASE THE DODGE TIMER to 45 MINUTES across ALL MAPS. Maybe almost an hour in timeout will make them think twice next time. Thank you.

I'm going to say "no" for one very important dodge that you neglected to mention, one that causes me personally to dodge.

  • My IRL friend just got on, and I'd like to queue up with him instead of spending the next 45 minutes playing a game without him.

The few minutes of delay that either of us cause by dodging once every so often isn't that detrimental to you and is for a good reason.

Both the dodge penalties and the leaver penalties right now relate directly to how much time of someone else's was wasted by the person leaving/dodging.

Considering the dodge can happen after about 5 minutes at most, it does not make sense to waste 45 minutes of their time for one dodge on the first occurrence. Keep in mind a leaver penalty, which is for wasting 40-60 minutes of 9 peoples time (total 360-540) starts out at 5 minutes for 5 games - 25 minutes total or about 10% of the time they wasted for first offense. Similarly, the dodge penalty starts out at about 10% or so, being a queue timer during which they can't rejoin queue.

Dodging champion select is crucial , mostly in ranked. I usually dodge when i get autofilled or when my 4 others teamates are keyboards warrior and they flame each others. I (and i guess all rank players ) prefer to lose -3 LP and get a 5 min queue than waste 20min and lose 20LP.

No please i have never dodged a game on a new account i dodged 1 aram and got hit with a 15min Penalty

Yeah, because it's completely fair for me to not play for 45 minutes because I didn't want to play Nasus with a top support instead of a jungler.

Ok, so I just had this experience:

  • I queue up as support (in normals!), I want to play Zoe as support, heard many pro's say its pretty decent. Sleep bubble really fast atm for the CC it provides etc.
  • Get into champ select and Hover Zoe.
  • My ADC (Vayne) says "don't pick that s**t, pick a real support or i'm banning it"
  • I say "please don't I think it can be pretty good"
  • "f**k you im banning it"
  • Bans Zoe.
  • I explain my reasons for wanting to try it out (sleep bubble into a vayne tumble auto or three proc auto double damage seems pretty legit to me)
  • "Yeah well I just played with 4 and its bad"
  • "That's not true is it"
  • "No, but its probably s**t"

Do I want to spend over 20 minutes locked in a game with this toxic Vayne? No. No I don't.

  • I Dodge
  • I get a 15 min penalty.
  • The Vayne gets no punishment at all and is most likely in game right now, feeding her ass off and flaming everyone.

Taking this into account, do I want to dodge penalty raised? Hell no.

I play aram a lot and dodge if I don't get an adc or a mage. Downvote if you want.

If anything I think it should be 5 minutes every time.

The fuck is this 30 min cooldown shit? it's a waste of fucking time.

Where is the dodge penalty 45 minutes already. I only dodge if something comes up, like say my sibling falls down the stairs, or gets hurt in some way. Or if the extended family shows up randomly for a visit. Generally I only play league if I feel that I have 30 minutes at least.

What about mercy dodges? The other night I was having problems connecting to even the chat for champ select. I told them "I was lagging." "Am going to dodge so you don't have to deal with me." "Good luck next pop!" Granted I normally don't have that problem so probably wouldn't get hit with the penalty, still though.
