So Done With Smurfing!

I realize this topic has been regurgitated by thousands of people and probably won't change one iota, but where else can we vent our frustration?

I'm so over the smurfing problem. I get why people do it, don't get me wrong - but why do it in ranked? For those that do it to teach or play with friends, do it in regs. I just finished a ranked game where a Lux hard-carried their team to an easy win. To top it off, the carried team members flamed and ego-tripped during and after the game. This situation happens more and more often. Sure, I have been hard-carried by a smurf to an easy win as well but I didn't gloat or even enjoy it. I report, I report, I report... yet here I am. Just another numbered entity in a long list of frustrated League players.

Is this why I play the game? I have been playing League for over two years (and generously spent hard-earned $$$ in support) and never has the community, in general, been so condescending, rude and aloof. I had to turn off /all chat completely (which I should have done a long time ago, mybad) and next step would be to mute the rest of my team. Talk about regression.

I am 99% sure that the comments will be flowing from those that smurf now that will disagree with most if not all I have stated. To each their own but slide into my shoes once and your tune will change. For oodles of players - climbing in ranked League is a struggle at the best of times, but throw in an opposing smurf every other game and ranked is one step forward and two steps back. A dead end.

There are so many reasons that people smurf I feel that it's not fair to lump them all together, actually. As far as ranked goes I feel not all smurfing is necessarily bad.

There are those who want to see of they could carry themselves back to their main account's rank (or further) from a very low elo. I don't really see a problem with these people. They are trying to climb just like everyone else in the game, even if their skill level may be a bit above the people that they are playing with.

Also important to note that there are plenty of people who aren't smurfing and will carry simply because they were placed or are currently below their actual skill level. Unless the person actually tells you they are smurfing it may be hard to tell sometimes.

The smurfs I think you are correct about and should be reported are the ones playing in low elo purely to play easy games against players who may not be able to keep up with them, and intentionally throw games to maintain this low elo.

Maybe if they stopped banning high elo players for the tiniest chat negativity they wouldn't constantly have to smash low ELO on new accounts for 50+ games to regain their actual ELO status.

I completely agree smurfing should not be a thing in ranked. People should either be allowed 1 account via IP or only 1 account of many on a single IP should have access to ranked.
