I actually just got out of a match recently where I chose Veigar Support (because it works with MY playstyle) and immediately I get flamed down right from pick intent because my Adc wants to DEMAND I play "meta". Who cares if I have a different strategy that works for me. Who cares if it has been successful for me in the past. I get this Meta-enforcer (North Korea level) belting out how because I didnt play by HER gameplan, and do everything SHE says, instantly I have to be punished by her intentionally throwing the match. All because I played to my strengths, and with what worked for me. She was belting on the entire match about "off-meta Bulls#&!" and how this is what I deserve for not following her glorious strategy blindly. She droned on about how "Meta is built and used by the pros, and only the stupid 5% go off meta"
So by this players logic, she would have likely been able to bully other players into agreeing with her "Boot him or I throw the match/feed" and kick me out of the lobby, why? because I wouldnt play my the meta she felt like dictating to me.
On a side note. We still ended up winning that match despite the efforts of the "funda-META-list" MF trying to sabotage the team. Won as a Support veigar in that game, and the game after where the team was more open to it.
