Okay, so. I came out of a game where I went as support TF. Everyone was completely fine with it in champion select. At game start, my ADC Jinx and I are overextending at bot. I flash for the enemy Varus as he has low hp, but Janna is able to shield him. I die. Jinx is still backlining and playing safe. A few seconds after, instead of running back, she also decides to run forward to try killing Varus again. She also dies. She starts flaming me for me initiating the first dive. I promptly tell her, it's not my fault.

She then afk's and trolls the game for the next 23 minutes. Whilst complaining in /all about how crap I am whilst the enemy Varus also joins in to flame me as well, in an effort to keep her tilted I assume.

My point? Why am I being punished on chat restriction? I honestly have zero clue why. I didn't say anything bad. Would like to note I ended that game with 2 honours.

Please tell me what you think. I rarely use the forums but I just needed to get some thoughts on this.

Game 1 Deditions: For? Deditions: Don't blame me for your mistake. Who forced you to stay overextended with less than 20% hp? Deditions: Jinx afk Deditions: ? Deditions: I can't 2v1 bot Deditions: Me? Deditions: Please report Jinx. All she's doing is flaming and not even trying to play . Deditions: Varus, all you're doing is flaming too lol, I stayed in lane like a normal supp and she's too busy flaming too play Deditions: Both muted and reported Deditions: Jinx really is.. Deditions: I understand trolling if we were losing. But we were winning lane Deditions: Please just report her Deditions: I'm silver Deditions: I am Deditions: I'M TAKING FARM SINCE YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING Deditions: YOU'RE LYING IN BASE Deditions: SHOULD I LEAVE THE FARM THERE? Deditions: Lol Deditions: I've got support runes and support items Deditions: I can't do anything Deditions: Please report her Deditions: Wtf Deditions: When did I troll? Deditions: What did I do? Deditions: 3 of our teammates said no to an ff Deditions: lol Deditions: Please report Jinx and Varus for constant flaming and Jinx for trolling Deditions: Thank you Deditions: Thank you Garen Deditions: Players like this shouldn't be allowed to ruin the game for no reason Deditions: One death and trolls Deditions: HOW? WHAT DID I DO? Deditions: I'VE BEEN ASKING ALL GAME Deditions: DUDE, I DIED Deditions: Lol Deditions: We were level 2 man Deditions: What can a TF do at level 2 after one Q and W Deditions: I flashed because Varus had under 100 hp Deditions: Then Janna saved him Deditions: One death at level 2 and you troll for 20 minutes, but yeah. I'm the retard Deditions: It was a bad game. Have a good day

Calling for reports constitutes harassment. 1 report=9 reports so by calling for them you are just helping to create a negative atmosphere on your team.

So it's fine having a teammate troll the game and already drive us to failure, but actually telling said player you'll report her is the thing you're more focused on?

Because everyone at riot apparently caters to over sensitive little pussies now apparently. I miss the days of the internet where punishing someone you can /mute in 3 seconds was a joke.

Downvote it all you want but the fact of the matter is people would have laughed in your face 5 years ago for asking a company to take action over something like this.

Completely agree. There is a huge problem with toxic play vs toxic chat right now. Toxic chat is getting all the attention and toxic play is running rampant. Its a fucking troll dream landscape out here right now. Whatever that means, lol.

And its one of many things slowly draining the life from this game. I'm pretty sure every riot staff meeting goes something like this "Let's implement changes that will piss off and frustrate people, then when they act on those frustrations... ban them... what could possibly go wrong."

Agreed. It may be generational, but all the same agreed. They don't need shit though, they need to deal with shit and stop crying about it. Otherwise we could all spend our whole lives crying- and isn't that a massive waste of time, and miserable.

Applesaucey2 votes

The problem is the shit riot is doing just reinforces the "safe space" and all a sudden it becomes not a generational thing but the norm.

Well yeah, for everyone not even in that generation. Yeah its stupid. They are just focusing on the wrong things. Hopefully it doesn't kill the game. I really like the game but I really hate the matchmaking and trolls n shit. The rest is muteable. Its been getting really bad to the point where i'm nearly done with it. Even streamers like voyboy have been saying they feel like all their games are so incredibly hard lately. Yeah, agreed. Maybe not all, but definitely most.

Funny. I remember getting a 4-hour ban in vanilla WoW for calling someone a douchebag in a tell after they had been griefing me for 45 minutes.

You kept asking for a report. Which is toxic and against the Summoner's Code. League of Legends chat is only meant for strategies and friendly conversations.

An Emperor2 votes

That justification was just pure terrible man.

Zombie Gerbil2 votes

You can disagree with it all you want, but when you signed up for this game you agreed to the term 5.1. in section 5 Code of Conduct that you'll play by The Summoner's Code Asking for a report is a form of harassment which goes against, "iii. Harassing, stalking or threatening other users in the Game" You get 4 chances to not to be toxic to your teammates.

First offense: 10 game chat restriction Second offense: 25 game chat restriction Third offense: 2-weeks ban Fourth offense: Permanent ban

I agreed to the terms and yes, I do get frustrated with my team. I always try my best. I will not try and ruin my teammate's experience nor tilt my team because I do not agree with what they're doing. But I will never ask for a report, which is a form of harassment, and I will always follow The Summoner's Code.

  • SUPPORT YOUR TEAM
  • DRIVE CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK (without insulting)
  • FACILITATE CIVIL DISCUSSION
  • ENJOY YOURSELF, BUT NOT AT ANYONE ELSE'S EXPENSE
  • BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
  • SHOW HUMILITY IN VICTORY, AND GRACE IN DEFEAT
  • BE RESOLUTE, NOT INDIGNANT
  • LEAVE NO NEWBIE BEHIND!
  • LEAD BY EXAMPLE

So, remember! Stay positive, remain calm, and keep to the code! I promise you, you won't have anything to worry about if you keep to the code.

Just asking for a report is reportable? Holy shit I didn't know that. Course I've never actually read the summoners code, people read those things?

In my opinion riot cares way too much about chat and not enough about play. Chat does not actually effect the game unless a player allows it to do so. Its controllable. Toxic play can not be stopped.

The jinx in this scenario should've been banned in some fashion because she is tanking the game for the other 4 players on her team. I don't care if shes being really nice everyone in chat, shes fucking them in regards to chances to win the game. She is effecting the game far far more than a weird support pick or misplay.

We need to focus on the things that actually effect gameplay, because in the end the game will fail or succeed on gameplay- not on feelings. The korean server is known as the best in the world- AND the most toxic. The 'community' is pretty much a fable except at super high elo.

However toxic play effects the entire game in all regions. Toxic play, innaccurate match making - which also can end up with seemingly toxic play, ruins games and is something players can do nothing about. We can't hit a mute button to stop a player from going 0/6 in 10 minutes; OR, on the other hand, stop the clearly better player/counter that was playing against that person, from killing them over and over. There are two sides.

The rest is sarcasm about being a 'nice' player.

If we want to be nice, why don't we just make a second consecutive kill on a champion worth no gold, and they still get all the lane experience like they were there. Everyone can be in the same rank and have the same elo. At the end of the season we can all get some sort of participation award.

We could also delete all chat and team chat. Maybe pings too, I hate getting spam pinged, then lets stop the fighting- lets make champions just hug each other with different abilities. Then why even queue up! We can just remove competition all together. Everyone would play that game.

Or we keep all of that because we enjoy the gameplay. We ignore the stupid asshats, try to win our games, and hope riot improves its system to create better quality games. Hopefully soon because its super frustrating as is.

But why would we fix the problem when it is so easy to ban people for calling someone a f****t after they ruin your actual game play experience. /s

Well, I think there is a line to be drawn here. I don't think riot is intentionally making things horrible here. Its in their best interest to make things as awesome as they can. Its also a big big system.

I think they are responding to customer demands, and not actual problems- or the root causes of those customer demands.

I mean that is the issue in a nutshell. Call someone a name and get banned- they go 0/18 in a game, clearly trolling the fuck out of it, and skate.

You're only calling them a name because of what they did, no one else called them a name- but they all resent the guy for ruining the game just the same. You just said it. Beyond that, it doesn't matter what you say, the idea is that you're pissed at x player because they intentionally ruined the game and wasted your time and you couldn't do anything about it- except you know they know that- so you just call them a fucking moron. Even that you know is pointless, you're just frustrated.

Either way, the feeder don't care. If they did they wouldn't have done it in the first place. Unless stopped, they will go on and feed their next x amount of games until they are stopped. No one can stop them but riot. Everygame will have 4 people saying what the fuck why is this guy ruining my game. Some will call that person names, some of those will get banned. This literally effectively removes legit players while allowing the offender to continue to spread the cancer. If allowed to continue, your player base will weaken and the game will fail. No one is going to play a game where the games are just a troll fest.

Short version, this will ruin the game, and people will stop playing it. Especially a game with an extremely high learning curve (hundreds of champions), new players will just say fuck it and go elsewhere.

Wait, really?

Someone can stop me in the middle of the road, insult me as much as they like, beat up my car and spit on me whilst in response all I do is to continuously threaten to call the police but somehow when the police arrive, they shove me in the back of the van and I have no idea if the other guys even got into trouble? Why? Because I'm not allowed to threaten to call the police as it hurts their feelings? I am genuinely confused.

This is pretty sad to be honest. A player can troll my game and flame me as much as they want, an enemy can flame me as much as they want too, but I'm not allowed to use any form of self-defence with my words as to not hurt their feelings. And even then, I'm not even allowed to tell them I'm going to report them.

What is this world coming to. My god. Are people really this sensitive? I'm genuinely surprised by the downvotes and the legit justifications going on. This sucking up to Riot is just pure unhealthy...

Yeah its insane isn't it?

It actually makes no sense whatsoever. There are really no words for it. It may be just because the system is automated, and retarded in the case of lol.

I don't think people in general are this sensitive in real life. Or maybe they are, it may be generational. The new generation actually IS this sensitive? I have no idea, I have a hard time believing it, ever, of anyone. The internet used to be the wild west. Now people lose their jobs for expressing an opinion on twitter or ffs saying something offensive. As if the rest of us never have said anything offensive- oh no, of course not. We're all fucking angels.

I mean, I called the system 'retarded' above. I'm sure I offended someone, and you know what, fine. If I cared I wouldn't have said it, and if you have a problem with it- ok. I don't. Its insensitive! Ok, thats me. Stop reading. Now would I call someone retarded in the presence of someone retarded? No, thats just rude and I'm not out to shit on them. People may argue that if you wouldn't use it in front of them, then you shouldn't use it at all. Well, I'll tell you what, people can be offended by all sorts of shit. I'm not going to spend my time keeping track of all of those things so I don't hurt some feelings. There is going to be some attrition, we'll all survive.

Some of it is legit, some of it is stupid. Most of it is that everything is recorded now, so people who used to live in a dreamworld are shocked that this shit actually goes on. Oh, terrible things happen and are allowed to happen that you don't know about? Shocking.
