Just today I have received a 14 day suspension ban.I've worked really hard throughout the entire season, trying to both climb my rank and stay as positive as I can towards both my teammates and opponents.I've received a honor level of 5 very quickly upon the new honor system launch and have kept it alive up till today.I'm writing this while covered in tears.League is not just a game for me, it s a huge part of my life.Being a girl player I have often encountered unfair treatment and sexism in a large amount of my games and yet still my reports of sexism and verbal abuse were often overlooked by the report system. As it is the case, yesterday I played a game of twisted treeline where everyone in the game reported me for refusing to surrender and for using emotes to react to their comments instead of typing. After that game I got very very frustrated.I started a new game where I was forced into a support despite calling mid first very clearly, I got stuck with a pretty bad ad carry who pinged me missing his own mistakes.I'm my chat log where it says that I got reported for unsportsmanship behaviour over the course of several games.I've written 2 lines that are offensive and were originally meant as a joke since i didn't really know what "kys" means(I only knew that it was a form of bm).Nothing more than just 2 words, and in just one game.I understand that the system noticed the reports from the twisted treeline game, however I don't think that's quite right. As a girl I'm always treated unfairly by both other players in game and my friend as well.I worked really hard getting to platinum 4 while staying a great teammate along my journey.I never thought I could get a 14 day ban just like this, because the system clearly said that I am first to get a chat restrict warning first.I didn't get nor the 10 games chat restrict, not even the 25 games chat restrict one.I just got a straight out 14 day ban from my level 5 honor and a great record of positive games.I have never ever got any sort of punishment and it was a shock to see this.I just want the end of the season rewards.I worked so hard just so that my friends and other players would stop picking on me for being a girl.I really don't think I deserve this ban.I really spent a lot on the game both money and time and effort. If it's all going to be a waste because I'm going to get another year of being treated unfairly, I'll be devastated. This time I'm being treated unfairly not just by my teammates and friends but by the banning system as well.

I agree your ban is not accurate, telling someone to kill themselves should be a perma ban not a 14 day suspension. But thats just my opinion i guess.

"Being a girl player I have often encountered unfair treatment and sexism " - Lol stop.

"i didn't really know what "kys" - Then idk, dont say it??? , also yes u do know what it means.... dont try to pull that card.

".I really spent a lot on the game both money" - This isnt politics, spending "alot" of money doesnt mean your immune from bans.

Riot has a zero tolerance policy for telling someone to kill themselves. Hence, you were issued an immediate 14 day ban as a final warning that toxicity such as that is unacceptable.

You told somebody to kill themselves over a video game. Riot has no tolerance for that.

It doesn't even matter that you're a girl. That has nothing to do with an online video game and should never be brought up. Adding that does nothing but make people think you're trying to pull a card on them. If a girl is mean to me and tells me to kill myself, it's the same as if a guy does it. Guys don't get special treatment. Find players that you can be a girl around, or watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjmzQEKoOps

Start at 59 minutes.

Saying "Kys" is straight to 14 day ban.

First, please learn how to format a post. This is so cancerous to read.

Second, you told someone to kill themselves, don't act like "oh I had no idea that's what KYS meant!" Everyone freaking knows what it means. Besides, unless you state you are a girl, how would anyone know? Fuck, why should anyone give a fucking damn? Unless you are freaking blind, I really don't think anyone cares you are a girl. Just don't tell anyone if you feel that's why people are reporting you?!!?!?

You got reported because you said KYS. You were reported and got punished for a very stupid thing. Unless you were purposefully int'ing or something, any of the other reports on you wouldn't matter. Playing bad and staying silent isn't reportable. Telling people to KYS is.

Use this as a learning experience. And remember, everyone online is considered male by default, so unless you're doing or saying something to break that illusion, you shouldn't have to worry about sexist behavior at all.

From the Instant Feedback System FAQs:

PUNISHMENTS GENERALLY FOLLOW A BASIC ESCALATION PATH:

  • First Offense: 10 Game Chat Restriction
  • Second Offense: 25 Game Chat Restriction
  • Third Offense: Two Week Suspension
  • Fourth Offense: Permanent Suspension

However, it is possible to skip to a Two Week or Permanent suspension based on the severity of the behavior in the game. Excessive negative behavior can result in a Two-Week or Permanent suspension at any time without having a chat restriction on the account.

Hate speech, death threats and instructions to self-harm all fall under the category of "excessive negative behavior." Using "kys" one time is enough to bump an account to a 14 day suspension. You're actually quite lucky that you didn't end up permabanned for saying it multiple times, especially given how vocal Riot has been about their zero-tolerance policy towards it.

As to being a girl, and how that counts against you... I'll agree with Anti Teemo that it really doesn't have any bearing as far as this situation. The X and Y chromosomes are not what dictate which buttons we press on our keyboards, but I can give you a bit of advice as another (probably much older) girl gamer. Being a girl will only count against you if you let it. It's a fact that there are significantly fewer female gamers than male. But that doesn't mean that you have to let everyone you play with know that you are a girl. If you are worried about them being a jerk and thinking you aren't as mechanically skilled as a guy, let them think you are a guy. They have literally no way of knowing unless you tell them otherwise. I certainly don't log into every match I play and start it off with "GL HF I HAFF BEWBIES!" And as far as your friends who pick on you, pick back and do it better. Honey, in the land of online gaming, you are already insanely cool compared to most girls. You play video games. And you play them well. And you have bewbies. You get to make the rules as far as whether they pick on you or not. The guys in my group tease me all the time, but at the end of the day I'm the girl and I run the show. I'm our shotcaller, and am regularly addressed as Nee-sama, Her Highness, and Goddess. And if they irritate me, I will dance on top of their dead champions while I remind them that I only heal people I like. DJ Sona really has a great dance for that.

I'm just guessing here, but you're in your teens? The older you get, the easier it gets to be able to hold you own and deal with this sort of thing. Unfortunately, it's not something that girls are taught when they are little, and it takes a couple years of dealing with it before they learn how to face it head on. But I can tell you from experience, when you fire back at it, that's when it stops having any effect on you. When I first started playing, I would get comments from guys saying things like "you play Sona? you must be a girl" or "only girls main Sona support." I didn't know what to say to it, it upset me. Now, if someone says that, I pop into the DJ Sona taunt at them and answer with "Yep. I'm hot gril." (I'm totally not btw.) And it just turns into a big joke from there. They'll ask for pictures, I'll ask for pentakills and it stops being an insulting thing. Because they realize I'm not going to act like an object, and I'm just there to play the game, and if you can make them laugh you grow like an honorary boy-bit. It's weird. But it works. It's honestly been years since someone was obnoxious and sexist towards me. Give it a try. You might even make some new friends.
