Could Someone Explain Chat Restrictions To Me?

I just got my first 10 game chat restriction this season and my overall 2nd.

Ocassionally I will get a string of team mates who intentionally try to tilt or grief me. For example as a Shen main I will tunnel vision hard (No minimap awareness) if tilted so I say "Don't tilt me or we will lose". Most teams don't mind, but some people start flaming the hell out of me.

I respond to every single insult or comment, and sometimes this leads in to a gangplank of team mates talking trash to me in an endless stream. If they talk trash I will respond in kind. Ex: Stfu Me: No you stfu.

Why would I get chat restricted for reacting hostile to hostile behavior? No one ever talks to me IRL the way people do on league. No one has ever told me "stfu" or called me a "bitch" in person, so I really don't understand.

I'd ask support, but I recall getting some very copy paste answers, or one time I asked about a skin bug and the guy just made shit up and said the bug never existed (Never resolved).

Basically, someone else exhibiting toxic behavior towards you doesn't give you the right to stoop to their level and retaliate. Everyone is held accountable for their behavior, regardless of what others are saying or doing. You shouldn't even bother replying to these kinds of players. The best option will always be to mute them and report them after the game. Don't even ask others to report them; your report alone is enough to flag them for review.

Chat Restriction is the lowest form of punishment, its telling the system while you are breaking the rules, its not so much that you are getting ban. With that said, according to Riots policy you arent suppose to handle toxic situation with toxic response. Just ignore them. How exactly are you responding to them that way solve the situation? You are only making it worse, because more often than not it will just make them respond more to you in that matter thus more conflict, which in turn means you guys arent paying attention to the game since all you guys are doing is chatting up over and over!

Whatever you say is what you will be charged with, in case it's an offense. Context doesn't matter. It's in the TOS. You know , that long long text that you said you read and understand when you clicked the [YES] button?
