Permanent Ban Appeals

I was banned for being toxic about a year and a half ago. ( Which I admit, I was pretty toxic at the time ) and really started dreading the decisions I had made. After being banned I had anger therapy, even did an evaluation with my doctor to help me out. I've not yelled or flamed anyone in that period of time on any accounts on this game, or on any other games.

_ What do you guys think about toxic players_? Should they be allowed to appeal, and possibly show improvement to get un-banned? I sure wish I could, as this is a game I used to love so much.

I'm happy to hear that you took steps to improve yourself. However, permanent accounts which are not banned in error are not unbanned.

What's hard about this is if you're a player who actually had been trying to reform and you slip up one time after your second ban after months.. the first thing that happens is you get that perma. I had honestly been looking into appeals before the ban for knowledge on if I had got to that point what I could do to get my account back. I've only seen one success story, and that scared me enough to change! It is so depressing that there are these few people who are quick to count us out instead of having faith in us, encouraging us to do better, helping us write appeals, putting the time into looking for the good in us the part of us that wants to change before stepping on our dreams and kicking us while we're down. We get it. We were perma banned! we understand, but you don't have to revel in our pain, you don't have to put salt in our wounds. let us believe there is a way! let us believe we can one day prove that we can be just as good with the league community as you who haven't been perma banned. You have no right to tell us otherwise and we'd be foolish to believe you.

One of the reasons Riot went to the 4-step punishment system was because some people treated their accounts as though they were disposable. They discovered that it doesn't matter what the punishment is, people who are going to change do so. People who aren't going to change keep going.

Now, it sounds as though you figured out your account is valuable to you. That's a good thing. It won't get you your old account back, but it will definitely help going forward.

They used to do a thing where if you put in a support ticket and asked they would let you try to make it to level 20 and if you succeeded without being punished then you could keep your account, but the success rate was only like 2% or something so they stopped because it was just introducing the toxic people to the new players and making the situation worse.

I was permanently banned around 2 years ago. I appealed and they did nothing (as the rioter stated above). Don't try it as you'll waste time writing a long email.

I'm very sad that you had to go through anger management therapy! You shouldn't have though, and let me explain why.

Going to such therapy means that you have a problem with managing your anger in the real world for very trival things and is affecting your social and occupational life. This game is made with the intention for you to spend a lot of time playing so that you can succeed. It doesn't depend on your intellect, it doesn't depend on how good you are how communicative you are. That's the main reason why people are utterly angry when they lose because most of the time, we know the mistake was not made by us.

It's simple psychology. You aim to achieve something and you give your everything, but when another person comes in and handicaps our success, we get angry, which is a normal human behavior. And when you repeat that step many times, of course you will start blaming the other person. They are the reason why we cannot succeed.

You may say that you don't realize those could be your mistakes but as I said above, this game does not depend on you. When you go in a ranked game you have 4 more team players, which your success is depending on, and if only one them is intentionally trying to sabotage you, that's when you get angry.

This is of course a game, but Riot must know that for many of us this game is (or was) a hobby and we try to make it enjoyable, and something which we could say we're good at.

That would really take the teeth out of the whole concept of a permanent ban. It wouldn't really be permanent in that case, would it?

Take it as a tough lesson. I'm glad you've gotten better with managing anger, and as long as you keep that up, you'll be able to continue using the accounts you have now.

I think, personally, that if a player reaches the point of being perma-banned they should have to live with that consequence. However, like any instance of this case if that said player were to create a new account and not recreate the cases that brought the perma-ban upon them they are welcomed. I do still think they shouldn't get their account back, as it's a reminder of what can and will happen if they find themselves in that scenario again. It's great that you've made strides in the right direction! Think of cases like Incarnati0n and his past accounts. He can and did reform but he's still lost all of his previous accounts.

To add onto this, I do wish to the least I could get a few (to the VERY least) of my skins/champions on my new accounts. I wish Riot would try to implement ways to give back to reformed players (on my new account, I have had more honors than on my old in months compared to years!). Like a last chance sort of thing, and if they broke the last chance then that would follow a perma-ban. I know I'll never fully enjoy this game on my new account, knowing that I'd be missing everyone on my old [if that makes sense]. More to this, I had never got any punishment such as a '14 day punishment' or anything, just two chat restrictions following my perma-ban.
