Vote Kick in Champion Select (Ranked)

I'm sure there have been other threads on this, but I'd like to re-highlight the issue as we approach the start of another season. It would be greatly beneficial to ranked gameplay if there was a vote-kick/vote-disband option during champion select. People's biggest pet peeve is trolling, and trolling happens at all elos.

If someone decides to troll (e.g. picks a champion in a role that greatly reduces your chances of winning, or tells the team that they are going to feed/afk/disconnect/etc...) then a four man vote should be enough to kick them and force them to dodge the game. There can even be a dialog box to keep track of the reasons for the kick vote so that these pre-game reports can be tallied and monitored by Riot.

Another prime example would be someone using explicit, racist, or hostile/abusive language throughout champion select. Why should one of the reasonable players be punished because of a "toxic" individual? A four man vote to kick that player and disband the game would be excellent and would lead to higher quality solo queue games.

This type of system would begin to isolate players who are not beneficial to the ranked community. They would be forced to either change their ways or play other game-modes.

So people that play off-meta or simply unpopular picks can get removed from the group and punished by Riot? Picking something the others don't like isn't a reportable offense. There would also be the problem of 4-man dynamic groups bullying the 5th; currently 4 people have no more weight in their reports than 1 does so they can't abuse that, but if they have the power of judge, jury and executioner then that is a whole new level of things we can't allow.

Well I see two big problems with this suggestion

  1. I like to play off meta champs, or champs in different roles. One of my favorites is playing Rammus top lane (with my rammus hat on my head I might add). This would only increase the chances for enforcing a meta. You want to play AD Malz jungle? Well vote to kick. I'm not saying this will happen, it is just very possible that it would.

  2. This has very high abuse potential. Voting to kick is just because you can, it is almost guaranteed to happen. Especially with having more than 2 people the ability to duo que this upcoming season, IIRC.

As far as the racist/ homophobic language, if I see that in pre game chat, I'll just block that player.

TLDR: whlie it would be nice, it just has too much potential for abuse.

I suggested a system like this a while back and people still shot it down, I thought it was a fair system though.

My idea was basically the same as yours, except with the limitation that people could only initiate a vote to kick ONE TIME per 24 hour period. That way potential abuse in the system could be mitigated and people would be encouraged to save their kick for the day for an actual troll, rather than someone playing an off meta champion.

Edit: To build on your suggestion, after so many kicks by other players riot should have a system in place to automatically scan for troll / toxic behavior by looking for anything along the lines of "I'm going to feed" or your choice of insulting words.
