Why does riot protect Trolls instead of help people who get trolled?

I had a Garen on my team, i ganked him second at like 5 mins in, was a successful gank, everything seemed fine. Then This freaking Garen comes and starts trolling me taking all of my jungle, like a pleb. I, obviously, a little ticked about it, start cussing at him telling him he needs to freaking stop and play the game like everyone else is and stop ruining the experience for 4 people. So after an entire 40 minutes of this not being able to farm, team doesnt want to ff bc its ranked i totally get it...but then I reported garen for trolling, he reported me for getting ticked at him for trolling. But guess who got the 14 day ban because they got trolled all game.....I thought RIOT was supposed to side with the people who actually enjoy playing the game and not the people who RUIN the freaking game for everyone else. Sure I was a little mean to him, but only because he forced a loss and trolled me the entire game....if i were to leave i'd get banned for afk if i just sat there i wouldnt have been able to farm or do anything, but I get the freaking 14 day ban because RIOT thinks the trolls are the ones who need protected. I have purchased so many skins, champions, emotes, what have you and after all that....I'm the one who gets the ban, not the Garen who trolls 4 other people and totally ruins the gaming experience for everyone else on my team. Multiple people reported Garen also, for trolling, but guess who is still online and active and able to play....a TROLL....excellent job RIOT. WAY TO KEEP THE TROLLS ALIVE AND ABLE TO PLAY FOR EVERYONE TO HATE THEM!!!GREAT JOB! DOUCHEBAGS

Nobody owns the jungle. Even if he was trolling, you have no right to harass, berate, or abuse them for it.

You can report them for their actions, but others can also report you for yours. If you stoop to the level of bad behavior, you are just as bad as whoever you're getting mad at.

k, why then would you have a jungle roll if 'nobody owns the jungle' thats stupid...thats how the jungler gets his xp to be effective for the team, and also i failed to mention he never grouped, he didnt do ANYTHING AT ALL for the team and went 1/6 please tell me, how I am in the wrong because i got mad at him and excersized my first amendment right to tell him that he's a waste of space for ruining the game for 4 other players...no im not just as bad as whoever im getting mad at, four of us were actually trying to play and enjoy our time without some idiot ruining the time by just dicking around...he could go do that in norms

You have a first amendment right to tell him whatever you want. Riot has their rights as an organization not part of the US government to ban, block, remove your access to services, restrict, or delete your account for whatever reasons they want. They elect to use their right to remove toxic players from the game.

If he was misbehaving, which I am not judging at all, report him and his account will be investigated. Him misbehaving, if he was, still does not allow you to be toxic in game. You don't get to be toxic period in game - no matter what is going on around you.

Please note that the next step after a 14 day ban is a permanent suspension of your League account with no transfer or refund of any content purchased prior. I encourage you to take these 14 days and really reflect on that and how your negative attitude is statistically proven to lose you more games. Instead of being toxic, why not try just being a force for good and positive in the game? You'll not only enjoy it more and win more games, but you'll avoid a permanent ban to boot!

I was trying to be a freaking positive force for good in the game by REPORTING THE ONLY TROLL ON THE TEAM, you're the only one who's protecting someone who ruined the gameplay for 4 other people. Go ahead and permanently ban the account, i'll contact my legal counsel about getting any purchases fully refunded since you have to provide services or goods for a purchase as required by US law. Since you're removing my account, i expect a full refund of any purchases made throughout the entire history of the account.

but before you decide to be an ultra douche why dont you watch the replay of the game, then decide for yourself if he was trolling and stop just making assumptions like a typical help desk jackass.

I'll make sure i make an account specifically to troll until you figure out how to actually fix the freaking problem and listen to people when they say theres a troll and yo ujust do absolutely nothing but ban the guy who's actually alerting you to the problem. This is why your community sucks, because YOU, RIOT, Allow these trolls to continue whilst punishing the people who are rude to them to hopefully discourage them from trolling which, if you spend 40 minutes in a single ranked game to HOPE to not get a troll, that is a bad sign for your community and that should tell you that you need to address a current problem that so many people are seeing. Every single game i've been in there's always someone talking about a troll last game who just fed went 1/20 and didnt participate but they're still online and active, but the guy who was rude to them rightfully so since it takes 50 games to get up one freaking rank, just cost him 20 ip because some idiot wanted to troll and do nothing in a ranked game....this is a riot problem, this isnt one guy who's getting too upset over one little thing....no this is a much bigger problem, you allow the trolls to essentially take run of the game free from punishment, there isn't even a freaking report button for someone who's trolling! only griefing which is total bs no one has been banned from that nor have they even been punished from it, your entire punishment system is crap and you need to address the problem you all have, which is trolls don't have any form of punishment and they are in every other freaking game, its ruining your entire community

Hey, I apologize if this is random but since you recently replied. I would like to get your input on the ban situation. What is the difference between a person getting banned today for flaming, hate-speech, trolling, afking or whatever the reason is and someone who gets banned 3 months prior to the season ending?

Is it fair for someone to lose their end of season reward after getting banned for the same reason as someone who gets banned a day, a month after or even 1 day before the "22nd OF August" Mark after the season ends? How come they don't lose their rewards? how come players who do lose their rewards and behave for the next 6-8 months aren't allowed to have a chance to apply for an appeal for their rewards? what is your thought on that issue? i'm genuinely curious and i'm new to this board thing, and i don't know where to ask/post/discuss about it. Frankly i don't even know how i got here, if you care to have a discussion i would love to get your input.

As for the original poster, I understand your frustration. There is a lot of mentality to this game, people get provoked and baited into saying things everyday on this game. Some choose to mute, some choose to lash back, and some can't control it and yell back. Not everyone is perfect, and not everyone has the mental fortitude to keep quite, take the abuse and move on. With time and experience you'll get use to it and you'll improve, don't give up and keep trying to be positive. I once had a Warwick jungle follow me (I was a mid laner: Anvia) everywhere, because he claimed that i sucked and didn't deserve to win, my friends yelled at him but i told them to calm down and not stoop to his level. I have friends from all over the world, and with different culture and region background, there comes pride into not letting bullies step over you. Some are really strong mentally and can easily move on instantly, and mute you instantly. IN my case i muted instantly but it didn't matter, he followed me everywhere for 30mins to get my attention, it was painful for a while to deal with but eventually the game was over. I completely understand that not everyone can with-hold their anger, if most adult can't control it, we can't expect children to be able to hold their frustrations, there are a lot of 13-17 year olds playing this game daily. Some are outrageous, some are kind, some are chill, some are polite, some are toxic, and some are hateful spouting hate speech, and "kys" comments.

I don't have an answer for you, and I don't know how to help you and i don't know if any of what i said matters. But what is clear is Riot's policy that 2 wrong don't make a right, which is accurate but i truly believe some human compassion and psychology should be put into this, because let us be honest. If trolls, inters, intent afkers are removed most of these type of groups provoking others will decrease and it will lead to less of a toxic environment. With out person A triggering Person B, Person B wouldn't be aggressive/toxic to begin with. Both should get punished, but one should keep in mind our one simple flaw is that we are human, we always say/do things we don't mean, and regret. We make mistakes on a daily basis, however, mistakes are as serious as the result they cause, thus, if your type of flame back was beyond hateful then you deserve harsh punishment, but if it was a simple "Fuck off, fuck you for wasting my time." Et cetera direct cussin' without hate-speech, then perhaps a 14 day ban is too harsh. I don't know what happen in your game even with everything you stated, we don't know the Garen's intent, i don't have vod review but all i can do is make assumptions. I hope this helped. I'm not perfect either and we all have our ways of thinkin' everyone acts according to their own sense of justice.

what's so frustrating is that the trolls get zero punishment, and some people...like me...only get to play 1-2 games a day if i'm lucky because the wife is always up my rear.......so this is personal time for me and it gets ruined by trolls who don't ever get punished so they continue to troll

That is not true, they do get punished. You just wouldn't know about it, some of them try to find ways to "beat" the system and find loop-holes, but remember 1 report is enough to trigger a review from riot. Make sure to type everything you want them to pay attention to in the description box. I'm sorry you've had this experience and many players have suffered from this, I truly sympathize with you, there is nothing i can do for you but encourage you to be better, to keep your account safe. If you're feeling angry, frustrated, or have any negative emotion just take a deep breath and ask yourself if it's worth it, or simply just don't type it. Remember actual trolls come with the mind set of not caring about what you have to say/do, some even create such new accounts to trigger randoms players and baiting them into saying something they can report you for and get you punished, it is petty but that is what they do. I can't clarify what Garen is, and i can't stop you from feeling the way you feel. It truly sucks, just be glad it is 14 days and you get to keep your rewards if you were ranked last season. You'll be tempted to play or make a new account, you'll still feel frustrated in the next 14 days but you'll get through it, i do recommend trying to find the roots that you once had for this game in terms of fun in the next 14 days, find a certain group to play with, seek new friends, hobbies, just find positive things to do and think about.

I wish you the best and i'm sorry you had to go through it. There is not much anyone can do for you, your only option is to reach out to riot support.

doesnt matter these jackhats don't want to help anyone, they're just there for a paycheck they couldn't care less about what happens with the riot community...i've spent so much freaking time and money on this account and now i'm banned because some jackass troll and the worst part is he doesnt get punished....so i'll do exactly what he did, i'll make an account specifically to troll , everyone in ranked, until riot decides to fix it...i can play up to a Gold 3 level, i'll make sure to troll up to where i'm able to play, and only troll since they want to do nothing.....you have to make it be a real problem for them to decide they want to get off their LAZY @$$3$ and address a problem so i'll troll people at the more elite tiers and see if they give a crap then....im just glad this was my bronze acc for lucian practice.

I agree with your sentiment, but your reasoning has several flaws. We have a jungle role (not roll) because it is meta for one person to take advantage of all that extra money and experience, while others take advantage of the money and experience in lanes. It is not a rule that if you aren't given jungle role, you aren't allowed to touch jungle. People could completely break the meta if they found and stuck to a strategy that involves multiple players jungling, but it hasn't been found to be as effective and that's why it has become meta to have a jungle role.

Your first amendment right is protecting you against the government. You aren't going to jail for saying the things you said, so your rights have not been infringed. You are completely able to exercise them, and the government will not strip you of your freedoms for exercising them. But much like any store can kick you out for being an asshole, so can Riot. So don't bother with the constitutional rights defense.... it is completely irrelevant.

Im of the opinion that Riot's system fails pretty hard at catching trolls. But if you break the rules, you're still held accountable for breaking them. I'm not gonna say two wrongs don't make a right, or any of that cliche shit. The fact is, you broke the rules, their system caught you because you did the easily detectable "flaming", and that guy got away with it for now becausw their system sucks at detecting, confirming, and punishing trolls. That's just the way it is.

I was an ass to him, but in my honest opinion, it was justified...this guy straight up trolled everyone, left lane at lvl 5 never grouped didnt say anything but ahahahahah thats it, and even when our base was under attack in his lane of course because he was absent, he just kept staying in my jungle taking blue, taking wolves, taking everything while I was stuck trying to do top lane and jungle at once because we had an absent minded idiot at top lane deciding he didnt want to be part of the team....why would you even join ranked just to troll....irritating, especially for the other 4 players

Finding out if someone is trolling would actually take some time and effort as it must be manually reviewed. Your chat however is just scanned by an automated system that looks for certain words/phrases.

So it seems you got a 14 day ban, which means you either have a history of bad behaviour or used 0 tolerance phrases.

Another player acting up doesn't give you the right to also act up. Before, your team only had to deal with 1 player trolling. Then they had to deal with the Garen and you raging in chat at the Garen.

Trolls do get punished, just not as fast as we would like. It is infinitely easier to find chat offenses than gameplay. It is one of the reasons that there are 'usually' more punishments for verbal problems before a perm ban.

Why didn't you just ask him to stay in lane and u will gank for him if he ignored go top lane take farm top and say to the team that garen has abandoned his lane so you cannot gank. Then report him after.

He might have just been bullied in lane and took gromp because it was too dangerous to push and you flaming him caused him to tilt and take all the jungle.

If you have nothing encouraging or positive to type into chat just don't bother it won't help you to win at all
