Prime accounts being tested on CSGO; maybe suitable for League too?

Valve considers 'Prime' matchmaking for CS:GO

A while ago I made a post about having issues with match making which was pretty well received by the community. This is a follow up post in regards to that as a recent experiment is taking place in CS:GO.

If people are interested in the previous rant, there is a link here; http://boards.euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behaviour-en/2HwnjRQw-reasons-im-giving-up-on-playing-ranked

So recently Valve announced the concept of Prime Accounts. TL;DR - you verify your account with an SMS text and it puts you in a separate ranking system. You play with other verified members and each mobile can only receive 1 SMS. It's aimed to prevent smurfs, banned people returning to competitive play, and trolls.

I once talked to a friend about a similar concept but with debit card details. However, it may exclude younger people. Given today's climate, pretty much everybody has a mobile device.

What do people think of the concept?

Was gonna say no, but lets be honest. If they gave me a skin I'd do it.

i still prefer the method a game used which i played a few years ago

you can link your smurf with your main

pros: you can use all your champs/skins that your main owns

pros/cons: when your smurf gets banned because you think beign an ahole on smurf is fun, your main gets also punished

So it doesn't stop smurfs since they can make a new account and get the sms and bam, they are a smurf. Don't smurfs usually make a new account anyway too? prepaid phones are like 2$ + they get put with verified silvers and shit. Tbh no i don't think its a good system

Who does this stop? Ragers easily get through, smurfers easily get through, and people that were banned heaps get IP banned, so instead of doing something logical like banning your ip, they ban your phone? oh no it's not hard to buy a 2 $ prepaid sim at all, the system is floored. If a storm was on the way, i wouldn't go to the effort of putting flimsy shitty items to protect something, i'd take the time to put those items up high (i.e make better - the game) and not implement a shit system.

As a side note, my main focus on this being a benefit was restricting people from returning to this new system after they've been banned for toxicity. It's currently being tested by Valve and their predictions suggest it should improve gameplay for people partaking.

Will have to see how it unfolds in general?
