Locked out of my account by LeaverBuster Warning popup

I assume I got this popup because my net cut out right at the start of my game. I got back in at around 20 minutes and farmed for a few minutes to catch up, then helped my team win.

I certainly have no plans to leave future games - I have never intentionally left a game in over 6000 played. However, I cannot in good conscience agree to this as it is worded in such a way that I would be admitting wrongdoing. It is preventing me from playing and I can't find any way to get rid of it. I've tried closing the client and logging in again, but it comes back.

Is there any way I can continue playing, or is this account lost to me?

Edit: Resolved.

Except you did leave the game. Whether it was intentional or not is irrelevant to Leaverbuster. By typing "I Agree" you are saying you understand that if you leave a game again, intentional or not, you are subject to discipline. There is no way to avoid this as it's basically asking if you agree to follow the rules. If you don't, then you can't play the game.

I see where you're coming from, but I absolutely did not leave the game. I was disconnected from the game, but remained in it until my connection was restored.

If nothing else, I might eventually be able to convince myself to bite the bullet using your logic, so I do appreciate it.

Edit: Also, agreeing under this assumption would seem to indicate I'm guaranteeing I will never have network problems again. That seems impossible at best.

Dude, you can d/c a few times every so often without getting punished. As long as you do not do it consistently, you're fine. Don't take it so seriously.

Oh I know that, I'm not worried about any sort of punishment. I just feel like I'm being forced to admit to something I didn't do to continue using the account, and I'm not willing to do that. If it said "Do you agree not to leave any future games?" instead, I would have agreed and never thought anything of it.

If you d/c, you technically have left the game as there is no connection between your computer and the game server anymore. Once your connection is restored, the client reconnects without having to see the loading screen but you're still reconnecting to the game during that time. You also have already agreed to the rules when you first signed up to not "leave" games and now it is reminding you of the rules because you violated them.

Here's a quote from the Leaverbuster FAQ on Riot's stance for unintentionally leaving games:

https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/201752714-LeaverBuster-FAQ

It's not my fault. My internet/your servers disconnected me. I had a real-life emergency. I had to get off the computer. The game crashed. Unban me!

We understand that players may be forced to leave from time to time so the system has been designed to keep these situations in mind. After leaving a few games, you will be placed into a low priority queue; as long as you can complete 5 matchmade games without leaving, you will be returned to the normal queue. However, if you continue to leave games, you will remain in the low priority queue.

You seriously have so much pride that you would rather lose your account than do something that you could have dealt with entirely in private and without any consequences?

The funny thing being, I bet if it was just an "I agree"-Button, without the need to type it in, nobody would have a problem with it. I mean, people constantly lie about having read, understood and agreed to the ToS without giving it a second thought.

True. If this had been in a little scroll box with a button at the bottom, I would be farming right now. I'm sure that multiple companies own my soul and body parts at this point.

Just type "I Agree" and move on and keep playing. It's not like you're going to be caned in public or something for doing so.

Have you not been getting the memo about the Sunday afternoon meet-ups to cane leavers? We start prompty after bible study.

Hey, you never know. There might be a Nasus in my next game.

You're not admitting anything. You're forced to type it. It's the equivalent of them saying "Type abcxyz to continue". They word it differently, but it has no bearing on you or your actions. It's purely so you understand what can happen.

Oh. After reading it again, you're totally right. Well played, and thank you for solving my problem.

Yeah man, its simple. If they force you to do something but dont offer an option to decline its not binding regardless of what they have you say. Its called a hostile contract.

you're being very petty. you'll find zero sympathy on boards. simply type "I Agree" to finish the pop-up and move on, please. Regardless of how you feel about it, it's a game. You were disconnected, regardless of the time or reconnecting, therefore LeaverBuster has detected a disconnected on your account and warned you of the consequences. Your team was still at a disadvantage, still on the short end of the stick.

I'm looking for assistance, not sympathy. I'm contacting customer service, and in the mean time playing one of my other accounts. You may consider it petty, but it's important to me.

Why?

fisher1 votes

For the same reason you might be upset if you were thrown in jail until you admitted to being racist. It's unreasonable. My threshold for moral outrage is just lower than average.

Nik Nikerson1 votes

Okay. If you feel that passionately about not typing "I Agree", more power to you I guess.
