"What rank is ur main?"
I propose an alternative punishment for que dodging. I aim for this proposal to solve 2 main problems as well as indirectly solve a few others. The first problem, which I feel is the main problem, being the accumulative time penalty before the next game, and the second being high elo smurfs. Having a flat 5 minute penalty that is applied not only when dodging a que, but also when missing the accept que prompt would make matchmaking a more streamlined process.
The penalty for dodging a que should be consistent and non-accumulative. It is a sound strategy to dodge a game because you have a person in the chat who is obviously trolling. Taking 5 minutes to go do whatever is not incredibly inconvenient like the 30 minute penalty in place. The LP loss system that's in place, is strong penalty on its own and should be sufficient. The additional time added between games provides no remedy; furthermore, I propose it raises another problem.
What seems to have become common is the creating of 2nd accounts whos' main purpose are for when higher elo people's que dodging would accumulate to these high time intervals. The scenario is one would que up on their main, dodge a bad match up or troll, and then switch to their alt with lower in mmr and que up. In my experience the smurfing player will either runaway with a game or start begging to surrender because they aren't fed. It is unfair to the people climbing, who are lower in mmr, to be faced up against someone; who has had way more time with the game; who is literally just killing time with this alt que.
These players don't care about the mmr of this smurf and the consequential outcome of the game; this can also lead to these players straight up feeding and giving up if the game's time has elapsed past their allotted 30 minute noob killing session. The change in time penalty would reduce the occurrence of this problem, which has arisen solely due to the accumulative time penalty, and the LP lost on their main is sufficient enough penalty for dodging; the time for dodging a que raising up to 30 minutes is just insane and is only creating problems.
