"What rank is ur main?"

I propose an alternative punishment for que dodging. I aim for this proposal to solve 2 main problems as well as indirectly solve a few others. The first problem, which I feel is the main problem, being the accumulative time penalty before the next game, and the second being high elo smurfs. Having a flat 5 minute penalty that is applied not only when dodging a que, but also when missing the accept que prompt would make matchmaking a more streamlined process.

The penalty for dodging a que should be consistent and non-accumulative. It is a sound strategy to dodge a game because you have a person in the chat who is obviously trolling. Taking 5 minutes to go do whatever is not incredibly inconvenient like the 30 minute penalty in place. The LP loss system that's in place, is strong penalty on its own and should be sufficient. The additional time added between games provides no remedy; furthermore, I propose it raises another problem.

What seems to have become common is the creating of 2nd accounts whos' main purpose are for when higher elo people's que dodging would accumulate to these high time intervals. The scenario is one would que up on their main, dodge a bad match up or troll, and then switch to their alt with lower in mmr and que up. In my experience the smurfing player will either runaway with a game or start begging to surrender because they aren't fed. It is unfair to the people climbing, who are lower in mmr, to be faced up against someone; who has had way more time with the game; who is literally just killing time with this alt que.

These players don't care about the mmr of this smurf and the consequential outcome of the game; this can also lead to these players straight up feeding and giving up if the game's time has elapsed past their allotted 30 minute noob killing session. The change in time penalty would reduce the occurrence of this problem, which has arisen solely due to the accumulative time penalty, and the LP lost on their main is sufficient enough penalty for dodging; the time for dodging a que raising up to 30 minutes is just insane and is only creating problems.

But a far as que penalty for not clicking accept...I've had incidents where I clicked accept like .00003 sec too late because I had another tab open...it sucks..especially when Youve already waited 2min for que lol. But I dont think that not accepting a que is penalty worthy..but dodging is very annoying...and its sort of "loop holing" the system. Though cant blame them, since the system is ehh..

Fuck yeah I do. I'm not gonna sit there and wait 20 minutes just to get in a queue when I can just log on one of my numerous alt accounts and play.

Please don't just downvote... leave a critical review. Also perhaps I should have had a 3rd option for the que time penalty, "I don't smurf".

The problem with the current penalty is that it punishes people who try and leave a lobby with a visibly toxic person, or where a team comp isn't meshing.

If someone is in your ranked lobby saying "GG - Disco nunu, free tyler1 - inting mid guys ff @ 20" and you make the decision to leave the lobby to save your time the loss, that LP loss and time punishment feels pretty bad. Whether you have a smurf or not, it just feels terrible.

I have two alt accounts. I don't really call them smurfs since I don't really use them to "lol GG EZ " stomp lower elos, I just use them for when my group of buddies and I need to dodge a lobby because of a troll, or when we get all melee in ARAM. I just simply log into my other account and re-queue like nothing happened. It's also nice to have 1 account in silver 1, one in high plat and one in gold/low plat range to play with my entire friends list without worrying about my elo being affected. Then again, I'm a normals main any ways.

I don't think someone jumping onto a smurf because of a dodge is too big of a problem, I do it when I need too, and I know a lot of people do as well.

I'd much rather like a system where you get punished for consistent dodging. Like this as an example:

First Dodge free - Because shit happens and maybe you don't have a smurf and you wanna get out of a lobby with a troll, whatever, I'm not looking to punish people who do it once a day.

Second Dodge - Current punishment, loss of small amount of LP and a 5 minute penalty.

Third Dodge - Loss of LP, 30 minute penalty

Forth dodge - Loss of LP, 30 minute penalty, longer queue time punishment OR autofill being enabled.

I don't know, just my two cents - I agree something should change to help people escaping a hellish potential game, but I also want to keep people in check who are abusing it. Especially for ARAM, or for the people who have to wait 30+ minutes for a game in higher elo.
