Punishment too extreme for trash talk?
it just seems like you get punished a little too extensively from people who have sensitivity issues.

The thing to remember is, people aren't necessarily too sensitive. Flaming teammates damages their morale, which decreases their chances of winning. While there are some oversensitive people out there, it should be pretty obvious that abusive chat is simply not healthy for the game.

I don't understand the sensitivity claim. If you're spazzing out and having a tantrum at people over a video game, it might be you who is too sensitive. People like me don't cry when people rage at us, we just hit a button and write, "This person was going crazy with insults all match", then queue up for a new game. We do it because we don't want people in our games losing their shit, distracting other people, and causing us to lose because other teammates get frustrated and give up in a game that was easily winnable.
You are mistaken. You aren't offending people. You are annoying them. People are asking for the annoying yapping dog to be taken away and Riot obliges.

its moderators run full extreme sjw inquisition "baww muh feelings were hurt" mode banning people for nearly nothing left and right, when the proper punishment for 99.99% of those cases should have been either nothing or a chat restriction
Absolutely. No other game in history would have you permabanned for calling teammates "bad".
