Abusive chat restrict from japanese judges

Hello everyone,

I have been a lol player since season 1 and quite well behaving . Since a mont i am in japan and with my gf we created new accounts to play league of legends here. Our behaviour went quite well then i got a chat restrict . I thougt that maybe japanese people were more picky on what could be said or noton their server then a few days later another chat restrict appears that you can in the linked picture. For context you got to know that the malz inted the game, was flaming us hard, afk and didnt get anything for that behaviour. We know it because we didnt get the "someone you reported has been punished" . My gf got chat restricted on the same game and a chinese friend got chat restricted on that game as well. None of them was flaming of course . Is it possible that they gave us a chat restrict for english speaking ? Isnt that totally abusive and against the basic rules of communication? can we have an official return on that one ?

Because we are here for more months so we would like to know if this is pure xenophobia or we can keep playing that game that we like ?

No, you did not get a chat restriction for speaking English.

You did get a chat restriction for constant negativity and abuse of a teammate.

Hi, im very interested in yoru answer did you get an official report on my restriction or something i didnt get ? i see you are an advisor maybe you have access to informations i dont have.

You can literally just read what you wrote. You were already showing griefing with surrender at 20, and then asking your teammates/enemy team to report as well.

We don't have any access to your accounts information. We simply are able to read the chat you posted and identify that you did in fact harass and abuse your teammates, as well as being overly negative.

Ok then... im really surprised because in euw 9 games out of 10 have people saying way worse things than that, i was way worse than that in the 2 first years in this game. And i know a ton of players that are worse than that and we never had a single chat restrict in 6 years.. so im quite surprised. So ok this is unacceptable for you and i accept that maybe i must learn more about my behaviour.

So what am i supposed to do when im being flamed and someone intmy game or troll it ? what am i able to say ? and why did malz not get punished when his behaviour was willingly toxic ?

You generally don't say. You can mute them and report them if you feel their behavior is inappropriate.

So i must behave silently when someone is doing directly the contrary and didnt get any punishment by riot . ok. Well i guess i got a lot to learn after 6 years of getting nothing but suddenly injapan it happens :)

You have no way of knowing if they got a punishment such as a Low Priority Queue or chat restriction for their actions - the notifications do not always come to you when someone you report is punished.

Regardless, if they're being negative/toxic, you don't get to be negative/toxic. All that does is make two negative/toxic people instead of one.

as i said i wasnt trying to be negative or toxic but if you like to think so that's a way of thinking. I wont argue anymore anyway the refereee is always right and i am already glad enough tht i dodged a ban the first two years i played this game. Anyway guys keep the community clean, great work on this game it's tons of fun, i will not have any trouble in the future i hope, we stopped talking in game since another of our friends got chat restricted because he said he was american in chat. have fun

Whether you were trying to or not, you ended up being negative. Intention doesn't really matter if you lack the self control to uphold your own intentions.

That isn't a great solution either, but it's better than being negative. All you have to do is stop being negative towards teammates, it's possible to talk to teammates without being negative.

I doubt that was why he was chat restricted. Before you cry 'racism' you should take a look at your own behavior and consider whether someone could be hurt or offended by what you have said.

Cultural differences may play a part too. Maybe in Japan they are better about reporting people, or the system is more efficient because they have a lower population on their servers, so it might be more efficient or more effective at detecting and punishing negative behavior. They also just might have a lower tolerance for negative behavior. That's not their fault though, if you come on their server and act like you would in your own culture, then you really have only yourself to blame when you get in trouble for being offensive in their culture.

If you arent aware japan have a big problem with xenophobia, i advise you to make some quick research on google. But caucasian are lucky, try to find some results between japanese and other asian people on lol. Chinese are almost systematicly being insulted and one of my friend who got chat restricted was already chat restricted for speaking in chinese. But i guess you are right just behaviour. If you had not said things that could be considered negative and/or harassment then they would have had no valid reason to punish you.

If we on the boards were able to read them negatively, chances are other people or Riot's AI in Japan was able to read them negatively as well.

I feel your pain, I know it sucks getting jerks or feeders on your team. But that's no excuse for treating them poorly. It takes a special skillset to win their cooperation and get them to work with you. I've actually written an entire post on the subject, so if you'd like to learn some tricks for how to better interact with them and still get the cooperation you need from them to play the game with the best chance of winning, I recommend you read it. here is the link:

This is the exact reason why Riot doesn't make strict guidelines for what is / isn't toxic. The system learns from the community reports (millions of reports / day) and from that the system determines what the community thinks is toxics and punished accord to what the community thinks.

In KR server, "your mom" jokes are heavily punished, where as such jokes are much more tolerated in NA server. Also in KR server, calling someone a "silver" is considered highly offensive.

Coincidentally, JP servers do have the most well mannered community compared to all other reigons, so such insults will probably not be tolerated in the JP server, but would be flowed under the radar in EUW server.

Chat restrictions do not show up for no reason. When you recieved your chat restriction, you also recieved a copy of your chat logs from the last few games that resulted in a punishment. I would recommend reading over them to or if you'd like, post them here and we can help identify what you did. I would say that it isn't xenophobia but unacceptable use of chat (flaming, harassing, hate speech, etc.)

Edit: saw the pic late. You consistently abused a teammate. That's why you got punished.

So saying 6 sentences to one person is actually abusing ? for real? i have seen much much worse in euw without a single warning to be honest. That was a chat restriction on one match when i was only pointing out that malzahar was calling the whole team noobs and inting and flaming ... i mean how can i call that then ? i should just remain silent the whole game ?

Yes, if you have nothing to contribute but more negativity, the answer is to **mute, report, move on. ** Just because worse is said or someone did something worse does not give you an excuse to add to it. You defend yourself by using the tools riot gives you so you don't have to deal with someone else's crap.

6 lines, 3 lines, 100. Doesnt matter, you became a part of it the moment you decided to drop to their level.

To be honest i wasnt trying to be toxic. i asked plitely to say ss because he missed 3 times SS and it was annoying he started flaming us and calling us noobs i pointed that we werent the ne forgetting to SS nore the one intentionnaly feeding the enemy team i was talking to my friends about the fact that we wanted to move on a more exciting game at 2à minutes and yes i admit it i asked for a report like i will even admit doing it and seeing people doing it on almost everygame of league... because some people dont notice there are inters or dont realise how important their reports are to clean the community. And as someone who never got banned or chat restricted i think it's pretty important to help spot the toxic people. I mean my euw acc are honor 4 and i clearly want to help in this way.

to be honest i feel retty fooled that malz didnt get anything regarding his behaviour when i really wasnt trying to be toxic and trust me if i want to be toxic i sure can. but well whatever. another day on the league :)

Forget about "toxic" because everybody has a different definition of what is "toxic." Arguing about whether you were "toxic" or not is irrelevant to your punishment.

Look at it this way, you weren't punished for "toxicity," you were punished for being passive aggressive and for repeatedly harassing a teammate for their mistakes. Learn from it.

Whether you think the player was int-feeding or not is irrelevant to whether or not you should speak up about it. You shouldn't, period. It won't make them shape up, as you seem to think. It will only make them behave worse. So don't do it, just report them yourself at the end of the match. It's not like additional reports do anything anyways.

Multiple reports do not stack. You never need to ask for other people to report a player. All it takes to flag the player for review is your one report. So keep quiet and do not lobby for people to help report someone. It is unnecessary and it leads to ganging up and bullying a player.

You should have seen the lot malzahar was throwing at me in game and in chat then :/ i didnt say a single rude word there and wasnt inting the afking in game either.

seriously... stop looking at the bottom left for ss. look at the bottom right theres your ss. its called map awareness.

Funny but no releavant, if even in LCS they say ss it's because you cant have eyes everywhere. But i agree i should get better too.

i always asked myself why they ping it. they are in a voicechat. oh well.

because a ping gives a more accurate position and sometimes in the flow of information a ss can be misheard while a ping can be more easily spotted.

Some games are pretty anti english. Dont think leauge is one though.

I play monster hunter frontier and they will flat out perma ban your account if they find out you dont live in japan.

So you simply never speak english (unless your in a english only clan like i am. We have to be super careful who we invite because a japanese player will report us all out of spite)
