I don't think that, "Permanently banning" people should be a thing.

In all other games and almost 94% of other Esport games, there is NO way to get "banned Permaently", and obiously that has worked out just fine for them, and I would like to know why Riot you are one of the only games that bans people, for merely says words over a game on a keyboard, who are simply just having a bad time in one or two games and getting tilted off of that, I think that it is so crushing and stupidly unfair that Riot Games Permaently bans people. I know I sound stupid but I know a lot of people agree with me and have their similar posts. I would like to know what you think, unless you have something negetive to say, in which case, Politely, Fuck off. Love Me!Brand P.S. Who also thinks that there should be some kind of system to which you can get "permanently banned, BUT! You can do something like play 100 blind picks all with chat restrict and be 100% flame free in order to reclaim your account, because that actually sounds pretty cool to me and its pretty fair.

This system is very, very lenient. Many other online games that cater to teenagers like League of Legends does have no tolerance for sexual content, toxic content, lots of cursing, etc.

Riot, on the other hand, gives you (usually) 3, but almost always at least 1 chance to reform before issuing a permanent suspension, which most other games do as well.

I would like you to point me to games that do not issue permanent suspensions. I'm waiting.

What games would those be? I've played online games for years and in every one I've played (other than League), it would be laughable if someone were to think calling a player "bad" is worthy of a permanent ban.

Only in League have I ever had players constantly crying for reports and threatening with bans.

Chermorg4 votes

Calling a player "bad" once never got anyone banned in League.

Flaming a player did. Stop trying to game the system.

Draven baka2 votes

No, he is honestly right lol. This is the only game I have ever been worried about being perma banned in because it is one of the ONLY games that does it, and I think it is so dumb that it does. So many people that have a bad time a few times, which will clearly fucking happen once in everyone few 1,000 games. Which players like me have 8,000 hours, and even the best of us flame sometime so.

Prove it. Name games that don't permanently ban.

Off the top of my head, Overwatch and H1Z1 ban players for being toxic in voice chat.

The simple solution for toxic players is just to ban them from in-game chat. Permaban someone is such an inappropriate way of punishing a toxic player... you're just gonna make him sad when you ban him from the game that he likes to play. Riot also STEALS all the money permabanned players put in the game because they don't give it back after the ban...So by banning him you made him feel bad and lose money, that's worse than anything the toxic player coulda done by flaming other players... LEGIT JUST CLICK MUTE IF YOURE OFFENDED DONT SNITCH AT RIOT MAN COME ON

Riot tried a system similar to that before (continuously escalating chat restrictions) and found that most people when they couldn't act up in chat would just switch to things like trolling and intentionally feeding (things that are harder to detect and prove intent-wise) to act up instead. In other words the people who want to be toxic will find ways to do so even if they can't do it via chat. Also, the mute button is not a "get out of jail free" card, as when you force someone to mute you then you've already done something wrong. If the people getting permabanned truly valued their account then they should have thought of that before reaching that point. To quote Kei143:

When Riot permabans someone, their philosophy is "the chances of this guy reforming isn't a whole lot, we'd rather not have him in the game". Thus in their eyes, they have already written off the toxic player as a paying client.

From a business standpoint, do they want to remove the toxic guy who has spent $500 but is causing a negative environment for 4-9 other players in every game? Those non-toxics are also spending $500 and probably will spend more, promote the game more when they are enjoying the game AND they won't cause a negative environment.

I personally think it is a fine argument to protect the ones that are paying money and aren't toxic rather than protecting the ones that may pay the same amount but are toxic.

The bottom line is that this is is not a matter of being a snitch or thin-skinned, it's a matter of not wanting players who only want to cause trouble for others in the game. If you can't or won't interact with others in a mature and respectful manner then multiplayer online games are just not for you.

P.S. Maybe the ones who need to man up are the ones who think that it's okay to ruin things for everyone else and not be held accountable for doing so.

The perm ban system works, my first account was perma banned at level 16, i was very toxic lol, but on this account i have never gotten so much as a warning...[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

ThePikol2 votes

Is not being an ass that hard? It's literally all you have to do to not get perma banned

hshtagniemehrcdu2 votes

Well, i think you are right. The system really is very lenient, and its a shame that some people are really so inherently toxic that they manage to get a perma. Totally unnecessarry, it really shouldn't be a thing, but some people are just giant, rampaging douchebags who can'T be dealt with in any other way.

UnboundHades1 votes

if your toxic multiple times after getting warnings you get a perma ban. not someone who never got punished or warned getting a perma ban. if you do get a perma ban you deserve it

Draven baka1 votes

Not at all, if a game can perma ban you without a real person looking over the case, that is complete bs,

HarambeMeme1 votes

really? explain how

UnboundHades2 votes

if u feel like u got wrongly punished u send in a ticket and send them the chat logs and 99/100 times they will say you deserved the ban

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

no people need to be perma banned and most i say about 95% of those who are really really earned that permaban. but the issue is it dont stop them from creating new accounts ( tyler1 with 20+ perma ban accounts ) what i wish they would do would be an IP ban if you are found that your IP address has more then 1 permaban

Draven baka1 votes

No that is the most stupid thing that I have ever heard, it is almost the opposite, a lot of the people I would say AT LEAST 50% of the people that have gotten perma bans should not have got perma bans or at least if they did, they should have a chance to prove that they are not actually that toxic, wihch most aren't.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

NO THEY ARE ...

they earned their bans

i have little to no tolerance for them or care that they are permabanned

Draven baka1 votes

Then how would you feel if you got banned then, you are being just as much of a dick as the people that got banned, and they didn't get any secound chance, your tolerance has nothing to do with it. Maybe half of them earned their bans, the other half did NOT.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

how am i being a dick for stating an opinion ?

yet you wanna say im being as toxic as people who have been permabanned? look at the one who is being verbally abusive and a toxic right now? its you

and if i did something to EARN my permabanned i wouldnt come to boards and blame others, blame riot or cry about it.

is that what you are doing over this post? were you permabanned?

AeroWaffle1 votes

Could you show a case where someone received a perma-ban, but you believed they shouldn't have? So we have a base-line of what behavior you think should be acceptable?

they should have a chance to prove that they are not actually that toxic

Their behavior that contributed to the punishment is presented to them (provided that they're banned for behavioral reasons) when they attempt to log in. Proving that they're not toxic would be incredibly difficult since the chat logs given to them are proof otherwise. And you can't dispute the chat logs.

Jo0o1 votes

Really? 50%? Aggressive stats.

This forum section is jam full of folks arguing that they shouldn't have been banned. Link a few that weren't justified, and advocate for them.

BlueThingamajig1 votes

And let's clarify that these are the people who legitimately believe they were unfairly banned. Self-select a population that is predisposed to being incorrectly banned, and even then, the overwhelming majority of bans were applied correctly.

I'm confident that there are people who were banned incorrectly, but never posted it to the forums (support ticket instead), but I don't believe for a second that they represent half the population.

Jo0o1 votes

And even then, I suspect those incorrect bans would skew heavily away from behavioral issues. Suspected scripting, credit card fraud, inting, etc.

Riot's behavioral standards are super cut-and-dry, and easy to work within. Last time somebody generated community support for a potential mistaken ban was here: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/BUrtv2EB-in-what-way-was-i-being-toxic

And guess what? He edited his logs to make himself appear innocent.

make a new ip address to get around ip bans

you can do that but typically you are granted the IP address via the ISP

unless you know what you are doing and know how to change it and what have you ( most dont ) it would work

People inthe online community do not take threats seriously unless there is a real outcome to those warnings. If there wasnt a permanent banning system then toxicplayers would never truly reform

Draven baka1 votes

Toxic players don't reform lol, perma ban or not. What makes them reform is things other than bans. Therfore why should bans like that even be here in the first place, yeah a really long time ban could acceptable, but not perma.

I'm just saying man I got hit with a 14 day suspension and the thought of getting permad has made it so no matter how tilted I am I never type anything. If there wasn't the threat of this perma honestly I would probably take the punishment system as a joke and continue to tell my team what a bunch of feeders they are.

HarambeMeme1 votes

good for you lol

AeroWaffle2 votes

But you just said;

Toxic players don't reform lol, perma ban or not

So why should we let them have free run of the place if they're not going to treat others with civility? Perma-bans at least present them with a choice.

Behave or Constantly reset all progress after each perma-ban

If they're not going to behave no matter what, at the very least Riot can try to dissuade them from playing by making it annoying to lose your progress constantly.

Every game permanently suspends people, it's just not all of them do so for being a complete jerk because they can't afford to moderate their game.

Draven baka2 votes

Name some games that perma ban people for being toxic, other than league then. The ONLY reason to EVER be perma banned in a game should be Hacking or other things that are clearly not allowed in all games.

Blizzard literally announced recently they are going to take moderation seriously because they admit their games are too toxic. Small companies don't because they can not afford it or don't know how to do it well, being too poor to do something=/=not wanting to. Riot came up with their own way of handling things which costed quite a bit of money and not every publisher+developer has the resources Riot has.

By the way even Korean games published in the West use perma bans, I myself was permanently banned from Grand Chase for "Harassment".

GW2 perma bans people, in fact they did that to thousands of players for knowingly abusing a particular game exploit back then.

Blizzard perma bans people. Such as in Overwatch being a more recent example.

Valve perma bans people with VAC. The majority of online games on Steam are also equipped with VAC in their online component.

Valve also allows game developers to ban players through the Steam platform should the need rise, the channel is there to allow it.

Rockstar also perma bans players in their titles such as GTA Online.

etc.
