Automated Banning System Too Harsh?

Black Legendary, your League of Legends account has been suspended

Hello Everyone,

Recently I have been permabanned from league for negative attitude, now I wont butter you up or beat around the bush, in this game I was pretty child-like , but to be completely honest, the fact that I get permabanned for this game only(since its the only game in the reform card) is just surprising. I would like to know why it is a good idea for an automated system to issue punishments over words on a screen, we have a mute button for that. I get permabanned for such a regular game of ranked, when people lose, they get salty. They could not even put a second game in the reform card because they probably couldn't find anymore as this was just a game where I slipped up. So the reform period really is just a way to get players permabanned eventually? I think that this punishment system is so flawed, and when you message riot support theres just a bunch of bot responses, so I get banned and cannot even showcase my side of the story, just banned immediately and end of story, I find that completely unfair.

What about more 2 weeks you can read the logs yourself, there was no racism, homophobia or me telling others to kill themselves. The permaban was too harsh. I really love this game and I don't think what I said in this game permits a permaban maybe 100 or 1000 chat bans or more 2 week bans but a permaban, REALLY!

EDIT: I have read all of your comments, and I came here for some advice on how to improve in the future, and believe me I got it. Thank you all for your informative feedback. I have made a new account and I have definitely learned from this experience to be a more positive player. All the skins and champs will come back one day am i right? lol

You were permabanned because you consistently act that way, not for that single game. And at that, just cause they only show one log in the email doesn't mean there weren't more games that brought about that punishment.

The system uses tiered punishments for repeat offenders. Sometimes very extreme behavior can cause you to skip a tier, but those logs wouldn't merit a skip. So for non-extreme punished behavior, the order goes like this:

  • 10-game chat restriction
  • 25-game chat restriction
  • 14-day ban
  • Permanent ban

Each consecutive punishment moves you up one tier. It works this way because a vast majority of players who don't correct themselves after 1 or 2 warnings (the chat restrictions) will never reform. They give a 2-week ban as a final warning. Another punishment will lead to a permanent ban, no matter what it was for.

So the real question is whether or not you deserved a punishment based on the chat logs shown. And yes, you do. You're not just negative about the game, but also berating allies and harassing people with report threats.

There's only one surefire way to not get banned....

If you have a bad, or even a good game, don't sweat it...know why? It's a game...simple.

I for one almost never get mad at a game weither were winning or losing, and if I have a good game I certainly don't say "GG ez nubs" cause that's just being a poor sport.

Best way to not get banned...Its a game, treat it as such.

What I read wasn't even near to being mild. You shouldn't have gotten permabanned. :/

You had multiple "mess-ups". Stop acting like you got perma-banned due to your actions in 1 game.

Also: if you want to win more games (not just league, but competitive gaming in general), you should change your usual reaction to things not going your way. Here, you got repeatedly punished by a system, and rather than looking for ways that you could get better, your instinct was to blame the system itself, to say that it's not reasonable to expect you to have performed better than you did.

That sort of attitude will keep you from improving, not just in terms of interacting with people over the internet, but also in ANY difficult game, hobby, or job.

Yeah, you deserve the permaban.

Let's see what you did wrong... which is the same as most others but let's see anyway;

  • Called for reports on others (Offense #1)
  • Insulted your teammates repeatedly, I counted 9 instances before I gave up (Offense #2 through at least #10)

Do you really not see why you were perma-banned? you're incredibly toxic.

If you've received numerous chat restrictions and temp bans in the past or recently, I'm guessing that you were on thin ice already and Riot concluded that your behavior as evidenced in this match is not improving and you're refusing to reform.

I am banned for "extreme toxic" cause i told some hard flamers i will Report them...not more..no bad word....no flame...just that...Auto permaban.

holy piss, thats actually a pretty mild chat log...and From what I can tell...id be mad too if my morg never shielded me from thresh hooks lolol, but yeah that chat log is pretty mild as far as "harassment" goes...all you did was request multiple times for your support to do something..hence the word support...and he/she failed to do so...Its human nature to get a little salty at the end of a match like that..which might I say your toxicity was very low at the end of the game..I've seen much much worse..definately not perm ban worthy

Just because it is the only game listed does not, by any means, mean that it is the only game they accounted for. Lets take a look, shall we?

"Your account has received a permanent suspension following an extensive audit of in-game behavior within recent League of Legends matches. Here are **some ** chat logs that were identified as negative by other players in the community." - From the link you posted.

Clearly implies that your punishment is because of, but not limited to, this isolated incident. Also, you definitely had a 2 week suspension in the last 3 months (hence the permaban) so you should have known better. Also, the tribunal gives statistics such as "% of games you have been reported in" and things of that manner. So, considering you already had your 10 game chat ban, 25 game chat ban, 2 week suspension, and now permaban, I think it is pretty safe to say you are a toxic player in general and the community is MUCH better without you.
