People have been being kind of aggressive forwards me when I go something off meta or try something different. last time i went miss fortune support and build forwards my ult and shredding, this guy got very mad and flamed me for trolling..off meta works too 
GoleBilon2 votesNormals are here to try new things and to play purely for fun so yea , you can play whatever you want , but remember your teammates may want to try hard so even if you go ADC Kayle or smth spicy let them know , have a plan how to win and try your best if you do all things i mentioned you are good.
In case of the sepcific MF support its even meta ( LCS not soloq ) but you still need to buy sightstone and play like a support ( vision oriented, dont steal farm , dont play solo try to support your adc and your team )

I've done urgot support as well against a heavy burst comp.
I've done all these in ranked cos the comp calls for them.

50000000000000001 votesRanked is for playing to win, and knowing what you're doing is a big part of increasing the chances of winning. If you know how your off meta pick works, then that's definitely fine, pull offmeta in ranked.
Ideally your teammates should also know what you can do, but if you're in solo/duo queue nobody really expects anything out of their teammates anyway.
GoleBilon1 votesif i were your adc i would cry , in the meta of zyra malzahar etc playing maokai or urgot or sion is like begging to loose lane , i recently picked up malza supp when i dont feel like playing mid/jungle and vs any mele support i just get lvl 2 press E-W-W and kill him or chunk him to 20 % hp.
still if you know how to play your picks you can even play AP zed its w/e , i'd rather have ap aatrox main than the so often seen " first time ......... plz no flame " in ranked

GoleBilon1 votesrly ? i mean i think he somewhat is good vs malza in terms of popping his spell shield no problem on cooldown , but the push that zyra and malza provide as well as pure dmg from voidlings and plants .... i dont see this matchup going well , maybe if you cover your adc so he does not get instantly chunked for 50% hp with 2 spells but then you get chunked pretty hard

im not even near the level i was , right now i have negative winrate in gold3 so im basically shieeet with just high mmr.
but yea it might be smth like that. i highly advice to pick up malzahar tho , its fun to play and it basically wins the botlane 99% of the times ( unless you fuck up and die for whatever reason but you still mostly trade kills supp for adc )
Sarutobi1 votesI mean you really shouldnt care what other people have to say. You are having fun and if it works and you are trying to win it shouldn't matter. As a support main i like to try off meta picks since the normal supports do get boring (as im sure its the same with other roles and their regular champion pool) its nice to try new things and it also helps you since the enemy team doesnt really know how to go against an off meta pick most of the time!
Skypaper Fields1 votesI like to play Taliya support a lot and my winrate with her isn't that bad. She's a ton of fun to play if you execute her right. Problem is when the ADC feeds and blames and flames you for "not playing a support". I also don't build sightstone if we're behind. I don't think that's an off meta choice. Less room to move, everyone has wards, don't need sight stone. Ahead and pushing towers? Sightstone it is.
Pretty sure I'm going to get banned for playing that way eventually.
50000000000000001 votesKinda surprised they talked poorly about MF support. That pick was on LCS a while ago. It was picked with Ashe, so MF could ult off of Ashe's ult. It could work well with any ADC with hard CC, although it obviously means that the weakness of the comp (double immobile AD backline) needs to be fixed elsewhere.
GeminiRune1 votesI generally tell people going off meta is not trolling if you have an idea as to what you are doing. I've often received the usual "wtf are you building" messages and lately I just answer exactly what I'm going for and keep playing or I don't answer at all. It's when they say if I'm trolling that I'll speak up and ask how. Usually they don't answer to that. If something works for you and you know it can work with your team and it's not something like blue build AP Ultimate Bravery Riven (cause that's just...), I say go for it against the critics who aren't playing with an open mind and will flame what they don't get no trust.
I've had people react to why I'm playing Kennen or Kindred in the bot lane. Mixed results but there have been wins and satisfying results with it for me. One less than the other.
I've had people ask why I'm building Rylais on Garen as a 5th/6th item before it got nerfed. First of all we were ahead. Second of all I still get the health and slow. That's still 2/3 of the item being used. A game was thrown once. It was hilarious.
I'll build tank Annie in ARAM when there are no tanks on our team, the enemy team has a tank or two, and we have 2-3 potential shredders/carries. Why did they change her E? :<
Basically, even though I usually run these in normals and RGMs, I play by innovation over imitation and just playing the game as I see it as fun (as long as it's not intentionally choosing to tank my own team one member).
As for your support Fortune attempt, that sounds like a case of being an imitator vs an innovator due to the poor timing. I was all over roles with MF before it came back to pro play (even jungle for one game that I got forced into role swapping for it). Since it came back, I've stepped back from playing her from the increased flaming for just willy nilly bringing it as a support pick into bad match ups or just not having the sharp talent that a high elo player has which they apparently know of. I'm not sure of your reason to run the pick as a support and I do worry about that because if it's due to you seeing it somewhere (high elo/pro play) and you just had to try it, I would tread softly or filter it out as much as you can because the aggressive tone can be real.
