Riot doesn't want people to quit.
People are more likely to quit if they have a bad gaming experience.
Being negative makes everyone else have a bad gaming experience.

thing is if one teammate is upset then usually the rest are feeling the same way. Your explaining it like the little league situation where one teammate gets picked on because he isnt as good, that is not the same as being negative towards what is progressing in the game.

Don't tell me you've never watched a sports game with some friends and weep at how the game was turning out?

you can argue that being a spectator and being a player is different but, there will be criticism from both sides as a player and a spectator, you have to learn to reason with it and not remove someones free speech because you don't agree with their criticism or respect their criticism.

Whoa, no one is talking about free speech here. Free speech just means the government won't arrest you for what you have to say. It doesn't mean other people have to put up with someone complaining.

Basically, if you're 0-20 then yes you clearly aren't having a good time. Your team probably isn't having a good time either. But you are making it worse by complaining, whining, or just generally being negative. And that's what's punishable, not like the guy saying, "oh man, I died and gave up first blood but at least his flash and ignite are down!" That's a way to be upset at what's going on, but not being negative about it. In that situation, maybe it even convinces your jungler to come gank for you, then hey you're even again.

The alternative is saying, "omfg such a noob champ, gg ff@20, mid is fed our jg sucks won't gank." Can you see how these more or less are the same thing but one is overwhelmingly negative and the other is positive?

I guess the tl;dr is that you can be upset without being negative.

the situation you explained "because saying ff@20 at the 5 minute mark" is a circumstance. it could easily be "ff@60:10 because we just lost our final turret in a 87-89 game" if those two circumstances exist and you can emphasize one over another, then the "negative attitude" ban is a fail for lack of better words.

thats generally not dragging down team morale at that point because people can understand the reason behind it.

also: it should be chat restrictions not bans for that kinda stuff. but eh, rito weighs everything the same

Negative attitude- You generally bring down the overall morale of the game, as well as the usual insult of other players' skill, thus causing tilt. Generally not good to deal with. Common examples: "This game is lost..." "ff at 20 plz" "this team is trash" "stop engaging u idiot" "plz just stop and ff" "im gonna afk if i dont get mid"

so its not okay for us to be upset with how the game is turning out? the individual didn't create the negative experience, the team did. Why should someone be banned over being upset and expressing themselves without hate and speech without malicious content.

Alright, here we go. You can be upset with how the game is turning out. But you cannot bring others down with you. Saying "Damn, we're getting behind, this isn't good" is alright. Saying "We're losing, let's just ff" is bad.

Also, no, you are wrong. The individual creates the negative experience, not the team. It's not the team's fault you aren't having fun. It's always the person's fault.

Being Negative is bannable because it generally ruins the mood and makes the game unfun.

"its not the teams fault you aren't having fun", your saying im supposed to find fun when im 0-20? The team creates the negative experience, including the individual but it is understandable if any individual of the team becomes upset with himself and/or the team.

There is a difference between making negative remarks about the game and "bringing others down with you". You arent necessarily attacking one person or a team you are attacking the situation and expressing your feelings over the outcome of the game.

You create your own negative experience. People find different things fun. Some people who are legitimate players have fun trying to fight an 0-20 game. Not many people do, but some people enjoy the challenge. Not everyone enjoys the same thing.

"ff at 20 plz." I really hope to God that you are joking. This is no way shape or form toxic. This is someone who accepts that the team is probably bad, the game is lost, and they want to move on to the next game.

I am so sick of kids following in Obama's teachings and trying to be the next person to claim they are "so offended" by anything and everything. People are just looking for excuses to act angry. If you report someone when all they say is "ff at 20 plz" then you really need to go see a therapist and/or grow a pair because something is wrong with you.
