Got a 14 day suspension for 1 game where I was reported?

So playing a game - and a guy starts really flaming, and i admit he got to me tilted me and I lashed out. I normally don't do that, and I'm not defending what I said even though what I said while profane, wasn't particularly hateful - at least in my view. I am not saying I shouldn't be censured I did break the rules but a 14 day suspension based on one game? where I was clearly provoked? That seems extreme I play with people who unload on people game after game and get maybe chat restricted after what must be the 10th time they get reported, one time out of the gate and I get a 2 week suspension?

That seems unfair - I'm sure nothing will come of this, but I wonder why the severity of the punishment? i mean isn't this one step down from being banned permanently?

Yes, flame again and you get perma'd. Looks like you used a big nono-word, like (((black person))) or (((gay person))). Too much of those and you get perma'd instantly, only a few of those and you get a 14 day ban. I don't like this either, but it's Riot's game so there's nothing we can do about it.
