Ways to fix how people treat ranked.

The problem that mainly comes into the ranked environment is that people do not care. "It's just a game." "Video games are suppose to be fun." I understand what these people are saying and are right in a way but there are time and places for that. Ranked is not one of them. Ranked is a very stressful place where most people come after 'training' growing their skills and want to put what they can do to the test and climb the ladder. Ranked is not meant to be fun not at all, the amount of time i get "First time (insert champion)" or "I'm trying this new full Ad mage build." People do not care what happens to other people as long as they get what they want and there is no punishment for it and other people have to suffer. Reporting does not help because it takes too many reports for something to get done and the enemy team will not report someone on the opposite team because they hope to go against them again for an easy win and the rare time that something is done it's not enough to punish the offender to make them change, but the people that screwed over have to suffer the most. Take me for example: Last season I was in my promos of Gold 5. I was 2 wins in and just need 1 win. Someone on my team says "Hey, I can't jungle can I swap roles with someone?" I gave up mid too him like a good player who cam play multiple roles should do. 10 seconds into the game the person that I gave my role too says. "Guys I'm trying to be the worst player in league so report me after the game." He then disconnected form the game leaving it a 4v5. We lost the game. I was mad but didn't sweat it too much and went into the next game. I lost the next game because our top laner wanted to play top for the first time and insta-lock a champion they have never used before and had seen a pro player use. He fed his lane and got mad at the rest of the team for now camping his lane and went and fed every other lane. That was the spiral to my mmr dropping so much that I get teamed up with people that just hit level 30 and want to jump into ranked but that is drifting for the point of what I wanted to state. Fixing how ranked and punishment are treated.

WAYS FOR FIXING RANKED

1: Change how the report system works, You can start but limiting how many times you can report like in Dota 2. This way if a person receives high number of reports it will mean that they are bad for the league community. I understand that a lot of games go on every hour but a team needs to be made to hand ranked reports.

2: Punishment needs to be more severe, Banning someone for sometime or perma-banning is not a threat because smurfing exist, Smurfing was created back in the early years of league when high elo queues took 30-45 minutes. Now it is used to troll or make people feel good about themselves for crushing weaker players. If people get too many reports with limited report system there should be levels of punishment. Strike 1, warning telling them they have been getting reported a lot. Strike 2, low-priority punishment where they can only play play with other people they are like theme toxic, ragers, etc. Strike 3 Division lose. Make them lose rankings. Gold 5 drop to Silver 1 no matter how much lp they have. Yes it is harsh but that is what they are doing to the people they are playing with I have had friends that have been dropped to bronze because stuff like this so those people should suffer as well.

3: Test a kick feature in champ select. A meta exist for are reason and in rank it really should be followed because I can not talk to people that I queue up with they are not my friend they do not know who I think and I do not know how they think that's why a meta is created to to help with throwing a game plan together. Have a kick vote in place. If someone says "I want this or that or else I feed." Let us be able to kick that person. There would have to be trial and error to make sure its not abused.

4: Reward people more/better. I have been giving the good sportsman award every season it has been out. I had the ribbon, I have the icon I have the skin, Which says I am a good person more or less but that doesn't help my rank, people with the system in place punishes people for losing when it could be completely out of their control, I will take a lose if I deserve it but other people or myself will mess up bad and cost the game how is that the other peoples fault? A way needs to be made to help with this. Instead of lowering peoples lp because of them losing raise it until the reach the next rank, then it can reset?

These are just some thing I can think of they may be good they may not but suffering for other people is not why I play ranked and is not cool.

"Ranked is not meant to be fun not at all..."

Uh hahahaha

It's a game if it's not meant to be fun what is it meant to be? OP probably should lay off the tryhard pills.[slayer-jinx-wink]

A ranked game mode is not for fun, normals and special game modes is where fun should be. A RANKED mode is a game is for serious competition. Everyone has their own idea of fun. I have fun with competition that's is why I play to for the thrill of finding someone stronger then me and getting stronger to beat them I don't find "seeing how mad i can make my team at me" fun. Losing because other people want to mess around is not fun. Winning is fun I am a try hard I want to win I like winning that is my fun the feeling of victory is fun to me.

If people can be lowered in rank simply by being toxic, it might encourage smurfers to be toxic in their main just to get demoted, unlike a perma ban. And seeing people not playing on par with oneself would also cause more toxicity telling them to uninstall or something

also Kick feature would be problematic in many ways: -4 premade wants to troll, go vote n kick. -4 premade doesnt want to comply with the solo player not going support, go vote n kick -some people get out of bronze and climb by going off-meta. There are streamers out there who have shown it by reaching challenger by playing one champ in all 5 roles. maybe make the kick feature available if champion mastery is below lv3??

you clearly underestimate how many accounts angry nerds and vindictive boosters create in order to manipulate ranked

The problem is Meta, Anyone who disagrees with something means a person is trolling, for example yesterday I went Sona top based off 3 other players playing weird stuff before they decided to change, and I get a toxic player go top, take my role, Yell at me to support, I tell them no at champion select, Game gets thrown off I die like 14 times and get banned for feeding?

So the only way to fix such issues would be to (Make Champions based off specific roles) for example would be to make champions have to be played by specific players filling a certain role which means.

A.) Players would still argue over what support is better during a lane phase as well as what ADC I would for example. (Because there are all different types of supports and different ways I personally group certain types of play champions vs what other people think or do.

B.) Players who are pro players would just pick and Swap lanes in game so it creates a whole new issue.

The kick / disband feature isn't a bad idea because of trolls like earlier griefing games if he was going to do that the game could have been disbanded/left the game to prevent a bad game for 3 other players.

The other problem with champion selection no one talks, and when someone disagrees with someone like 99% of the time players will argue or do it anyways so it doesn't matter you get unskilled players, its just going likely be a toxic experience, the only way to avoid this is Queue as 5 players.

The only way to solve these problems is to enforce strict communication policy's at champion selection for example someone says Don't go master YI because (X) reason here, and the player reply's with " I am going "X" Champion because of "X" reason, but then it still leads to an argument and with very little seconds and having to write a 300 word essay on a champion or types of play what you end up with is 5 players, each which do different types of composition based champions and that is what throws games hard.

You want reports to stack based on how many people report X person without any reason behind it? You're joking right? You might as well roast yourself on a stake too. Unfortunately for you, it has been officially declared that no one person can decide how the game is played. Unless they're outright trolling, you cannot decide for yourself whether or not their choice to pick/build something is bad. You are in the same game as they are, you are in the same division as they are, therefore you must deal with it. Not the other way around.

Meta exists for a reason, sure. That reason is not absolute nor does it have to be followed to the T. You want to know the solution? Focus on yourself and only yourself. Don't look at the next person and blame them for your own mishaps. Nothing bothers me more than someone attributing fault in a false/delusional manner.

The community decides this, and they have decided that trolling in ranked is perfectly acceptable as long as they're having fun. It's the reason that NA won't win worlds.

Riot implemented Dynamic Queue so people could have fun with their friends in ranked. They seriously 100% believe that ranked should be fun and competitive at the same time.

People climb better when they stop caring about their rank and start thinking more about what they could've done differently. High ELO players will tell you the same thing. You don't climb ranked by telling yourself you're better than your teammates. You climb ranked by first accepting that you just might be where you should be. The sooner you admit that to yourself, the sooner you can worry about your own mistakes and actually fix them.

Oh, there's a troll in my game? Guess I'll give up and waste 40 minutes complaining about it tilted as hell and not bothering to see what I could've done better in lane or somewhere else.

OR

Oh, there's a troll in my game? /ignore all and focus on my own thing because, believe it or not, you can still learn some things out of games like that.

Which sounds more beneficial? You gain literally nothing from being aggressive towards someone. It tilts you, your team, and you spend time typing when you could be thinking about the game itself. On the other hand, if some guy is trolling you specifically, you learn to play from behind. In the case of a support trolling an ADC or vise-versa, you learn to be independent and simply hold your lane. Both of which are skills that are notorious for being minimal or simply non-existent in low ELO bot lane mains. That also helps you learn one way to deal with split-pushers. You don't have to kill them. Just hold the lane. Optimally, you'd fight the 4v5, but letting your team go as a 4v4 and you holding the split off is generally the second best thing to do.
