They kind of can...? If the confines of the real world were identical to the internet, people would behave exactly as they do online as in real life.

The fact that people act differently means that they CAN indeed do whatever they want.

It's absolutely ridiculous that people get like that over such trivial things like a video game. I had someone tell me such things the other day because I made one single miss play as pantheon at the end of the game. Just ONE misplay was all it took for this guy.

I used to be suicidal back when I was younger. I was bullied even by teachers back then so I really struggled and as a result I was put into psychiatric care I think it was 5 different times between the 6th grade and my junior year of high school. It sickens me that people consider this stuff funny or appropriate or that they think it somehow makes them tough or cool. Sorry guys, it just makes you look like insensitive morons who's parents really need to take your internet away from you until you learn to be respectable human beings. Suicide isn't a joke and it isn't funny. It's also despicable to wish someone to commit suicide, over a stupid video game no less. I just wish people knew how to be decent to one another...

It's okay, I'm over my past and I don't let things like that get to me as much anymore. Still though, just because I can handle it now doesn't mean everyone can and that's one of the bigger reasons I consider it an issue. It's a concern for those who might be like the old me and already contemplating it without someone further giving them ideas on the matter.

The bigger problem is that the overall punishments online are pretty lenient. I'll use this as an example:

Let's say you go up to someone in real life, say you're going to murder/rape their entire family and won't stop until it's done. If that person has a witness, it'll almost always result in jailtime for the person who said the thing (will try to find an article, but I remember this guy got like 6 months in prison for something like that). Meanwhile, you can basically say/do whatever you want online and unless the game is super-against it (clash of clans being a notable one as they'll perm-ban your account instantly for doing stuff like that) you can get away with it without any real "punishment". People just assume that because they can't see the person's face then there aren't any "victims" from doing the stuff they do, which in turn makes the dead-weeks (in which I eliminate all use of the internet) I do seem a lot more fun.

I've seen a few cases in which online bullying has gone too far (about 3 months ago one of my neighbor's kids took her own life after someone online spent 6 full hours harassing her on WoW) and it's like nobody cares, despite the fact that 10-15 years ago (when I was in middle school) they were all proactive about trying to stop the r/l bullying issue. Although the audience/problem has shifted to a new home (from real life to online), the solutions that were being applied seem be not following along.

I agree, but at the same time I think they need to be careful to not overdo it either. Especially in today's day and age where people get offended about almost anything at all you need to find a way that is fair and gets the job done but that also won't be abusable to those that just can't handle a different opinion.

I just dealt with a guy like that. He kept going on all game and it was pissing me off. I told him "I wonder what it was like growing up with no parents" because obviously he had no one to teach him manners and respect. If I had ever acted like that my mother would have smacked me into next year. You're right..They think just because it's the internet they can act however they please. They wouldn't (hopefully) act like that irl and if they do they need to be shot on sight because this world doesn't need people like that. I play to have fun just like most people here, not deal with ignorant, disrespectful little bastards. Riot needs to seriously do something about this. Warnings don't work. Short bans don't work..They need to perma ban people like this and get rid of the toxic players once and for all. You get reported one time with proof and BAM! You need to get the boot. I'm sick of people like them. I wish we could reach through the internet..I'd knock their teeth in..Repeatedly..with a baseball bat. Riot: DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I know this is just $$$ to you, but we are people..We shouldn't have to deal with this. You own the game so it's your responsibility to fix it. Otherwise you're bound to start losing your precious cash flow. Social media these days can break a company in seconds. And if enough people start complaining about things not getting done, it's gonna end badly. Not really, it's been getting more common and what if the person you say it to was already contemplating it? It can be just enough to tip them over the edge if they're already that emotionally vulnerable. Just because it's no big deal to you doesn't mean it's no big deal at all.

Only for now! .......... The rules are changing. I could go into details but won't. What I will say is that this company has the correct Idea. The thing is our game as much as I love it, can only start small changes in This game or the on-line world.- Other regulations will be set eventually and often No One will notice.

We will see many changes soon enough, sadly some changes that have no more or less to do with games but will adhere to us the player base. This is not necessarily a bad thing in & of itself.

Back to Riot games, people if you read things you don't like speak up and say so, Please. I'm Not advocating complaining, in fact I'm asking for the player base to Try to understand why others say things and be more forgiving. Laugh if you want ;) Yet, Riot is a fair company and looking in every direction to improve.
