Rules Against Language And Why They Should Not Exist

Now I know it is the right of Riot to make these rules but I question their validity. In every game I play online there's always some rule about not cursing or saying hateful things to other players. Why is that though? Is it hindering your ability to play the game? Nope, you can mute them. So truly it's about Riot trying to keep a player base that is so easily offended by something another player says to them before they can mute them. I can't think of a single time that someone has trash talked me or flamed me and I said to myself, "Wow, that makes me not want to play more League of Legends". Because this isn't a chatting game, it's League of Legends. So I might have an unpopular opinion, but I think we live in a world that is filled with easily offended thin skinned little babies that let what others say on the internet bother them.

TLDR; Stop being a little bitch and grow up. People's words on the internet can't hurt you.

Muting exists to spare yourself from toxicity.

Reporting exists to spare other players.

I'm not offended by the words 4chan spews out. I'm offended that people so lowbrowed continue to live despite having the combined vocabulary of pond slime.

You prove a magnificent point. You finish your well put statement with 'don't be a little bitch.' Had you left that out, we might be able to have a reasonable conversation. Except, instead, you already make everyone view you as insulting, and someone who can't fully control their language. As you can see, language is a powerful tool.

No, I don't go to 4chan. I enjoy stay away from intellectual black holes. I remove myself from most social media, because I fall into the middle ground.

What a lot of people forgot about that safe space episode of South Park, Reality acts like a dick and expects to get away with it. The answer is in the middle. Not everyone is going to be positive, but maybe you shouldn't be a dick. 'Don't be a little bitch?' That's you being kind of a dick.

Just because there are options to hinder the words, doesnt mean it should be acceptable to say. I dont like hearing racial slurs, or swearing in general. its a childish thing to do and in my opinion shows a lack of vocabulary if the only words you can type/say are curse word. it has nothing to do with being thin skinned, or being offended. its just an annoyance and irritating which can hinder me from enjoying a game.

Nice try. But even George Carlin knew the effect of the seven deadly words and how to use them properly.

By themselves, profanity is just words. But their usage is what makes them have negative value. And no one acting like a jerk is trying to educate or entertain. They're being rude, demeaning, and insulting.

Society has decided that profanity is not acceptable speech. It rarely puts the speaker in a good light. You try to put profanity in to a more neutral frame of mind and then insult people with your final line of text which includes profanity. Your intention was always to do just that: be insulting. You don't lend any credence to allowing people to say whatever they want however they want.

You are the reason we have language filters and rules against such words. 1 / 10. And only one point because you kept it short. /rolleyes

Try saying "fuck you, go die in a hole" to your mother. If she gets mad, just tell her she shouldn't be mad since it's just words. If face to face doesn't work, just text her those words through Facebook Messenger or Whatsapp, similar to how you trash-talk others through LoL, by Internet.

You can't deny it. This is simply the description of your logic.

League is not just a game some view it as a career choice. If you started to curse and act up at your job do you think you'll have that job. If you started to curse at someone in public that you dont know do you think nothing will happen? If you started to name call and berate someone you dont know do you not think they will react in some manner? Try to have some self control and some dignity.

Permitting jerks on the Rift loses Riot money, and since Riot is in the business of making money, toxic baby ragers and potty mouthed children will be sent packing permanently. It's that simple.

Well adjusted people login to play League of Legends for fun - take a moment to try and remember what that is.

Every jerk that infects a match with toxicity/verbal abuse/hate speech creates a negative experience for the 9 other players in the game. Regardless if all 9 mute that person immediately it's simply a killjoy, especially when normal people simply looking to have fun have to endure these little fucks seemingly every other game of their lives on the Rift. These 9 players aren't going to want to continuing playing League, and they're definitely not going to promote the game to friends and family, which results in business lost for Riot.

In case that doesn't resonate, business lost is not acceptable for a company looking to grow, and if they feel it's preventable in any way, shape or form they'll likely take action to put an end to it.

Long story short: toxic baby ragers and potty mouthed children are not wanted by the community and by Riot. Get used to it.

This is a question obviously asked by someone who has never had the balls to say anything remotely offensive to anyone their entire lives. That being said, I'm here to help you and answer your question.

In real life you can say whatever you want to people, that is true. However, you'll likely face consequences for such language both immediate (ie - your face will be broken and your body left bruised and bleeding) or down the road (ie - you make a death threat to someone > they report you > you have to deal with local law Enforcement and possibly a local Judge).

Why that suddenly changes online here is the luxury of anonymity and no consequence. You talk all the shit, spew all hate speech to people who aren't 2 feet in front of you while you're comfortably hiding behind a computer screen safe in your home that your parent(s) are footing the bills for.

Agree that the rules are dumb. For me, I get reagey soetimes. Thks is usually because of : a: trolls, feeders, afks, or soemone doing things to disadvantage me (BBBARRRRRDDD) b: and why is this a report option? PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE CRAP! also idiots insulting me. But I either report themn and have nothign happen, or forget to take the time.

My overall question is: WHY TF are you (riot) punishing the victims of these people, and others? We are only human, unlike some of the more annoying instalockers. We can just sit there and take this crap in our placements or promos or even a normal game and jsut be like ¨Ooh, I learned another racial slur today mommy!¨ without getting pissed. So: why do people who get justifiably mad get chatbanned or even timebanned? Most of the time, the case is that the player isn toxic, jsut got pissed at trolls. Also, chatbans? WORST IDEA EVER! If you say in your tip ¨15% or w/e of toxic players lose¨ ITŚ BECAUSE THEY CAN COMMUNICATE! HOW CAN YOU WIN WHEN YOU CANT TELL YOUR TEAM HOW TO GANK? ie been cahtbanned sometimes, and i know how hard it is to use pings to try and point out a path. ITS IMPOSSIBLE! There should be a better way of punishing toxic players, and it shoudl be directed at teh TOXIC players, not the ones who can take any more of the un-punished BS that goes on.Zilean

It is very difficult to get in trouble in LoL. Your behavior has to be substantially different than the average player before you even get a chat restriction.

So with that in mind, what you're really saying is that even if people actively ask Riot to remove you from the community (this is what "reports" are), they should ignore those requests even if a disproportionately large amount of people have a problem with the way you treat other players.
