Perma-muting would be better for the community than perma-bans. * /r/leagueoflegends

I was perma banned a couple months ago , and I miss this game a lot honestly , I still watch the competitive scene , watch lots of streams and am a part of the community on reddit/r/leagueoflegends/ and I put so many hours , so much time and efforts and honestly spent a LOT of money into skins , had 20 rune pages , had so much stuff on there , almost every champs and got banned which is a real bummer. Anyway unfortunately I doubt the ban will ever be lifted BUT , I read this thread on reddit the other day and I for one have to agree with the person who wrote it. Tyler1 is a perfect example of getting banned and just gonna appear on league again and again. I feel like perma banning is just not gonna solve anything honestly. People put so much time and efforts into becoming better and the competitive environment makes it hard on people and whenever someone does bad and loses them the game odds are someone's gonna rage. It might be wrong but its frustrating. So I do think that having a perma muted chat would solve a lot more the issue , if one is not able to type well.. He can't rage and tilt the team. If a player finds another way then it becomes more than being toxic but it becomes trolling. So I do think perma banning is really unfortunate for people who love this game and put a lot of time and money into it. I think perma banning is just a bad idea and muting someone's chat forever would be a lot more effective. Thank you.

Permabanning is effective because it ends your main account. Yeah, you can make another. Gotta spend the time raising it again, getting runes, champions. Very long process. And don't even mention the cost of skins. Basically, annoys the shit out of you and ruins your game. But, you deserve it for being toxic. So, you can make another account but it won't be like your banned one. It'll always be less, unless you spend RP to restore it. But then, Riot wins anyways as you're giving them higher profits. It's so easy not getting permabanned, the people that get it really deserve it and tried to get it. Been playing for 3 years now; Not a single warning.

Having a person on your team that can't talk, even if it's important to win the game, is too much of a detriment.

And why can't the raging player just self mute themselves before it lands them a permaban? After all, the previous punishments (chat ban and 14 day ban) should be throwing up enough warning flags for them. The tools are out there. Unbind the chat key. Remove the enter key. Just don't talk unless it's helpful to the team.

In the case of Tyler1, how would a perma-chat ban stop him from intentionally feeding? Or just creating another account once he gets perma-muted? He's been banned enough times that it's obvious that he'll continue to be a jerk even if it means his account is trashed. In fact, I think he's doing it for the youtube views at this point as well.

He is not the usual case. The standard player actually cares about the effort they place into their account. The perma-ban threat places more pressure for players to show some self-control in chat even if they want to insult someone else.

I've muted toxic players but then they notice that they have been muted and they just start spam pinging instead. perma muting isn't really a viable option.
