I got banned for pretty much no reason.

I was in a game with my friend and I was playing ezreal bot. I had a very bad start bot and my support was non the less useless, i said you're a bad support. Riot i hope you know I was being called far worse names than that but I still got perma banned?? Here is the chat I said: Game 1 BlinkingFish: you're a bad support BlinkingFish: we lost (Me implying that Im mad because I died twice with no help) BlinkingFish: can you do something? After this I got banned for Toxic, If a riot support person could please tell me where I was toxic that would be nice, but I got reported for toxic while trying to defend my self. I was getting called names and so was my friend HappyMan1790. Ive spent money on this game because I like it, not because I want to be toxic and say im better than everyone. I got reported idk why banned. I want a answer

How can you even type that much in a single game? And i'm saying this because the whole chat log is about you arguing with someone else, nothing else. If you put the same effort on playing the game instead of doing that...

"BlinkingFish: called diana a %%%%" This is probably what got you banned btw.

If you already had 14 days ban, the whole chat log is probably punishable since it's full of negative comments

If they going to report for that chat log that makes me mad because they never even took the time to see who was saying it. I was typing in all chat because Yi and I were friends, also you gotta realize this is low elo, chat is filled with toxic smurfs, I happened to be in the middle of one and got reported

Well, be it high or low elo it doesn't matter, don't try to use it as an excuse... I'm d5 and it's pretty low elo, found out people here are worse than gold.

I'm not really using it as an excuse. You see, people make smurf accounts to help there new friends that are playing or just to restart again. However, if you notice those people will get bad teams often and complain about how bad they are. That makes new people(me) not want to play anymore.

You have to consider that your account already received a 14 days ban which means it will not be considered reformed for a lot of time. Therefore any form of bad behavior will not be tolerate, even little ones and there are a bunch in your chat log. I'm sorry but i don't think you will get your account back :/

I know your gonna call me out for an excuse but what else am I supposed to do? In mind I changed the subject, yet also not a smart idea. You don't realize what they said to ME! Yea call me weak, but words hurt. I don't wanna cry over a game so I fire back with an unethical remark.

The real reason you triggered the chat bot to scan the report in the first place was the amount of text. it seems like just typing a lot and then being reported triggers it to scan. Then when it did scan the log it found numerous words like bad, toxic, reported, referencing other peoples curse words. when it finds key words multiple times throughout a ton of text it just issues a punishment. type way less and never argue with anyone just mute them and you will never get a punishment again.

I will never receive a punishment again because I will never play again. Riot really didn't understand the position I was in. This is called empathy people. I would expect them to understand how I feel getting reported for being bad.

We all started somewhere, and if we're going to do justice to the people who helped us move up the ladder, we have to start by paying homage to our roots. If you see a player having a bad game, or who clearly doesn't grasp the fundamentals of the genre, try offering some constructive advice. If you do so in a civil and friendly manner, it's likely that they will be receptive. Oftentimes they'll be downright grateful that somebody took the time to let them know how to improve instead of yelling at them.

Never get frustrated by an inexperienced player's performance. At some point, you were just as green as they were, even if it was the day that you downloaded the League of Legends client. Have a little patience, and try and help the player step up to a level where both of you can enjoy the game. At the same time, don't be discouraged if they aren't receptive. Some small percentage of players will get hung up on the notion that they don't need anybody's help, and, no matter how politely you try to lend a hand, they won't want to hear it. That's no reason to give up on the rest of them!

Did you have any previous punishments? For example did you just come off a 25 game chat restriction or a 14-day ban?

Well that right there is the problem. Riot's punishment system is progressive. If your account receives a 14-day ban then it is on very thin ice for many months worth of play until you have proven to Riot that your account is reformed.

While you are on said thin-ice, any negativity, no matter how minor or extreme will result in the next tier of punishment, which happens to be a permanent ban. Your behavior by itself may or may not have warranted a ban (IMO it didn't) but because it was done after receiving previous 'warnings' of a 14-day ban it doesn't matter what it warrants, because in Riot's eyes you showed them that you have no intention of reforming.

In my own opinion, your behavior did warrant some form of punishment, because there was a lot of arguing, insults and negative implications. You repeatedly accused others of trolling and called for reports against people. In addition to that you repeated another person's use of zero tolerance phrases, which Riot's IFS sometimes picks up on.

Another piece of advice, you should not have shared the account with a friend. Riot has rules against account sharing for this very reason, because they can't always tell if the person who got the account 14-day banned is or is not the main account user. Someone could act poorly themselves and then say it was their friend in an effort to get a punishment lifted. Therefore they have to keep it a policy that it is your account and you are responsible for all behavior on it. That way nobody can try to circumvent the system. So tldr; don't share your account with friends, especially if you know they might be toxic.

When I got my 14 day, I stopped playing for a few months to cool off. Shouldn't I have been reformed by then? I haven't played for months. Also this is the guy who used my account weather you believe me or not: Txc Legit. He taught me toxic now I can't breaking but I'm one to blame, so I can't pin it on him. Yet I'm still lost of the "reform" part. Like I've stated, I haven't played in months after that.

It doesn't measure in time, it measures in games played. Taking a break is good for your mental health, as you said it gives you time to cool off. I've done this too before (although, not from being banned). But taking a break doesn't cause the account standing to improve over time. Riot looks for evidence of reform, instead of assuming that reform has occurred after a certain amount of time has passed.

Edit: are you planning on making a new account and continuing to play? If so then I can offer some additional advice on not getting banned and on getting better cooperation from teammates.

I feel you. I actually think that Riot's reform system needs some additional changes to make it more about reform and less about punishment. But alas, it isn't my decision to make.

Some additional clarity would be nice, but we are also expected to read the ToS before we hit accept after each patch. Riot does explain a lot about everything in that.

I edited my last comment but you might have replied before I did, so I'll ask again: "Are you planning on making a new account and continuing to play? If so then I can offer some additional advice for how to deal with teammates and how to not get banned in the process."

Bummer dude, well I'm sorry that happened. If you do decide to come back to it I hope that you will be more careful the next time. People suck sometimes, but you rarely see them again afterwards, it's not worth losing an account over :(

If you do decide to come back to it, the following skills might be helpful to you in avoiding bans and in dealing with teammates in the future:

Warning: Wall of text incoming. It's a lot to read, but trust me it's all useful techniques that I've used to great effect in my own games. It's worth your time if you are willing to read through it all.

1. On avoiding getting banned:

You don't want to get banned obviously, so first and foremost you should avoid being negative, passive aggressive, or insulting in any way from this point on. A good rule of thumb is this: If you wouldn't say it loudly to somebody in a public place in front of someone who's respect you hold dear, it's probably not something you should say to a stranger over the internet. Avoid being sarcastic, or saying anything to blame teammates.

Generally speaking, anything that you say that might anger your teammate is something that could make them report you. Whether or not their report for that statement is justified, if it triggers the IFS to review your behavior and the IFS finds something else that you said in that game that it thinks is punishable, it's going to punish you for the second thing even if the person reported you for something else.

Keep in mind that after a 14-day ban you're going to be on super thin ice. Even minor negativity may be enough to trigger another punishment, and unfortunately (and in this case, unfairly in my opinion) for you, the next punishment in the progression is a permanent ban. If you are not absolutely certain that you can talk to irritating teammates without saying something punishable, then it is better to not talk to those types of teammates at all. Mute them and don't even acknowledge what they say. You can safely report them yourself after the game and leave it in Riot's hands to deal with them.

After several months of consistently honorable (or otherwise positive) behavior, your account standing should improve and that 'thin-ice' and danger of being permabanned will loom over you much less.

2. On using past, present, and future tense to better steer discussions in a positive direction:

It especially helps to steer conversations into the future tense. reasons being this:

  • The past tense is often used for assigning blame
  • the present tense is often used for discussing values
  • and the future tense is often used for making choices or decisions in the future.

This is a subtle twist of language that a lot of people don't realize affects their discussions with others, and they react to it on a subconscious level.

For example, picture this happening in one of your games. Person A just died to a gank because they pushed up too far and didn't ward. Here we will look at the outcomes of using different verb tenses to discuss their death.

Case 1 - Past tense:

Person B: Dude you shouldn't have been so far up <- notice the past tense, this will often make Person A feel like they are being attacked, and they are more likely to react by defending themselves instead of focusing on playing smarter the next time. person A: I wasn't trying to die, they just caught me! It wasn't my fault!!!

Here Person A argued instead of recognizing or learning what they need to do better next time (ward and watch out for ganks).

Case 2 - Present tense:

Person B: Aww man that sucks, I'm sorry you're dead right now. it's not fair how they can pull bullshit like that. person A: Thanks! Yeah, it's so unfair!

Here both players commiserate over the unfortunate event. Nothing is learned from it, but Person A is at least feeling supported by person B. As long as you use the present tense like this (to express support for a teammate after something bad happens), it will serve a good purpose because it will put Person A's mind at ease and they won't be worried about getting flamed by Person B every time they make a mistake.

Case 3 - Future tense:

Person B: Oof that's unfortunate. Lets try to ward next time before you push like that again, maybe it will help keep you safe. person A: Thanks! I'll try that.

Here person B makes the discussion focus more on what to do about the problem in the future, and they do it in a helpful way. This helps Player A to see why their push ended badly for them and gives them a clear goal - a safer strategy to try the next time that they want to push.

Also, keep in mind that verb tense is more than just talking about when to do something. Telling somebody to "stop feeding/flaming" or to "feed/flame less next time" isn't really using the future tense, because it is still making the player's mistake from the past into the main focus of the discussion.

3. On maintaining team morale and preventing tilt and arguments.

A lot of the time, people begin to argue or tilt because of plays going badly. They can't accept responsibility (or fault / blame) for their mistakes, or they are upset because somebody else's mistake made the game harder to win.

A series of bad plays is sometimes all it takes to drive a team into the worst sorts of in-fighting and arguments. This is why it is super important to maintain team morale and to keep people focused on strategy and future plays.

When a play goes badly, you can head-off (or prevent) multiple problems. First you can prevent the player from tilting and getting anxious or afraid of their mistakes getting them blamed or harassed by the team. And second, you can help the whole team to not tilt by turning the focus away from the mistake and towards what can be done to prevent or make-up-for the mistake in the future.

To do this you need to use a combination of the present and future tense, in order to make the player (or team) feel supported while also giving them a clear goal of something to do better the next time around. For example, the future tense case from section 2. Notice how Player B commiserates with player A to make them feel like Player B is on their side ("oof that 's unfortunate," and then gives them an idea for what to do next time ("Maybe if we ward next time it will keep you safe.")

Maintaining team morale isn't just about preventing tilt though! You don't even have to try to make players feel better after a bad play if they are already feeling great in the first place! This is why it is important to compliment teammates whenever a play goes well.

If the jungler ganks top and they kill the enemy or force the enemy to waste resources... Say something like "good teamwork top & jungle" or "great gank" because these sorts of things will make them feel good about what they did well, and make them feel motivated to try to do such teamwork successfully again in the future.

If bottom lane gets a tower or mid lane roams and makes a successful play, compliment them for it! People love praise and it will make them feel like you have their back.

This has another benefit of making them trust you more, that way if things go wrong later and you need to give feedback or suggest they do something different, they will already think you are nice and will be less likely to take it personally or get upset when you tell them to do something differently.

Conclusion:

Phew! That was a lot, I hope it wasn't too much of a wall of text. That's most of what I have to say for now.

I've used each of these techniques to great effect in my own games, and I highly recommend you try them in your own. If you have any questions about them or you want to discuss other techniques, just let me know I'll be happy to talk more about this.

Unfortunately, repeating zero-tolerance phrases or calling for reports against other users is not the same thing as standing up for someone. What fish did was lobby for reports against another user (which was unnecessary) and made lots of passive aggressive and antagonistic comments towards others in chat. Repeating the censored word that Malphite stated didn't help, and calling for reports against another user is sometimes considered harassment.

In case the two of you didn't know this, multiple reports are counted the same as one report. So stacking reports doesn't help to increase the likelihood or severity of a punishment. You're better off muting and reporting a jerk instead of responding to them, because responding will only feed their rage or their trolling.

You were banned because you started off insulting people, then proceeded to blame people, argue with them, threatened and used the report system as a coercive weapon, threatened to intentionally feed, and referred to Diana as a %%%%. This combined with your history resulted in a ban. As others have mentioned, you can send a link to this thread to support as an appeal to your ban.

I didn't say that you did, I said you use words that referred to Diana as that. That could be (and probably was) interpreted as calling Diana that. That's why I wrote that you should submit a support ticket, because the ban may be reconsidered as you did not call Diana that.

Don't do anything, keep playing. One can take what other have to say into consideration even if negative. But no one needs to, chat can certainly be ignored. I miss stuff like small talk in chat all the time because I am too busy playing the game. It's about self-discipline, so don't give words that power and choose to hurt yourself with those words. You'll be better for it. A good place to start with that is not starting $#!! with other people like you did. There's nothing to gain from that. People don't need to say anything in chat other than gank timing and a "gj" and you probably shouldn't say anything else because there's so little potential for anything good to come from that.

So, I would advise you to submit that ticket to support with a clarification that you didn't call them that, an explanation, an apology and a concerted effort to stay out of chat in the future. Good luck with the ticket.

I think that you stopped playing for a few months would have done nothing as far as resetting your 14 day ban, you were still toxic pretty much the very next game after receiving a 3rd tier ban. its like if u are toxic in 12 of your 15 past games it doesn't matter if you take long breaks in between them to try and reset your punishment tier times. seems pretty fair to me honestly, like if u cant play this game without working on the way you interact with others socially (even when they insult you first which happens IRL too btw) then its not the game for you. play some solo only games or see a therapist about handling your emotions.
