Is this chat restriction worthy? Lost rewards from someone else inting

I just had an annoying game. I was just chat restricted and reduces to honor level 1 for complaining about another person inting. He clearly ran it down mid about 9 times in the middle of the game. While he said in chat he wasn't inting, he absolutely was, he would just run straight into their turrets and die to multiple fed people alone. He did this in the beginning and the end of the game. I have been making an effort to not insult anyone personally, or use any harsh language in games, as to make sure I don't lose honor. The game previous to this game I received a key fragment and a "GG Friendly, 60% of people liked playing with you".

I will admit we were getting camped hard and I was frustrated in the beginning of the game and sorely wanted a gank. I did say "gg boys" once as a joke because I got manhandled so hard by Blitz, Warwick and Draven on a gank, I know that can be perceived as tilting and I shouldn't have said it, but I was honestly just joking because I died in a split second.

Keep in mind my chat restriction only listed this single game as the reason I was restricted and lost rewards:

Its pretty frustrating I lost rewards while someone else clearly inted. The team was even complaining about our top lane doing bad and I said I'd rather have him playing than the mid laner inting. I never used anything racist, any foul language, anything homophobic or personal insults like I see on league all the time.

Ill take the Reward loss and chat restriction but this seems ludicrous based on what I said, and what the guy did who ended 3/15(he played in the beginning, inted in the middle, and played again at the end).

I understand I was not super positive, and frustrated by getting camped, but really don't think its worth losing my season rewards. This game getting pretty rough to like these days.

Thats alot of chat for one 30 min game. Next time just mute. When a teammate goes off like that, constantly typing, it not only distracts you but its distracts and tilts your teammates too.

I mean, theyll probably tell you that you were greifing. Gl tho , those rewards are a b to earn back, i still havent after my chat restrict 2 months ago

That much typing, at one person, is griefing IMO. No need to continue on like that. It affects your whole team. best thing is to just play your best and report at the end.

Ive found that when inters and feeders get that attention it just makes then go harder. If they get ignored most of the time they start playing again

Well if that that's the case I guess it's sad now someone can int and I lose rewards for "griefing" the inter by calling him out. Guess we have to just sit there and lose at this point and inters who don't chat. I guarantee you him inting affected the game way more than that chat log.

Honestly I just wanted out of the game and for him to ff, I was held hostage, so I chatted about it, I think the chat restriction for this game is absolutely ridiculous.

Calling someone out for inting is kind of a no win situation. Either the player is having a bad game (or out of their depth) and you risk a harassment punishment, or they are inting and reacting just validates their behavior. And some of them want to take as many other players down as they can before getting banned.

Well maybe they shouldn't chat restrict for things like I said. I didn't insult him, I didnt curse at him, and yet I still get banned. I think this whole thing is ridiculous, they are setting up a system where people hold you hostage in games. This game is really hard to like right now.

You were constantly pointing out his inting. I already pointed out why that's self-defeating. It has nothing to do with cursing and, well, I guess you have a different view on what constitutes insulting someone than most of the communtity.

I feel like we are playing different games if you think most of the community thinks what I said is so hard to handle, considering can't count the amount of games I've been told to kill myself, hope my mom gets cancer, and all the various racial slurs, and I don't even ever int.

I feel like people will defend anything an automatic system punishes someone for, it's obvious this was done by an automated system it happened within 10s of the game, but whatever you need to justify that maybe the system sucks. People can troll games all day in game but God forbid I mention it in chat. So out of whack how people justify shit.

You do realize the system uses data from what players view as punishable, right? Retaliation, calling out trolls/inters... those get punished because "players" don't want those kinds of behaviors in their games. And that's not just players in the game. It got punished back when Tribunal was around by players who have no connection to the game or its outcome.

No, I don't know that. How does the automated system use data from what players "view as punishable". I am a software engineer with a pretty good knowledge of machine learning and I have no idea what you mean. The only feedback players give the system is reporting, which can obviously be abused.

The current system became what it is today with the help of sample data from the Tribunal. The Tribunal was a system where players could vote on cases and decide if someone deserved to be punished or not based on their behavior.

I know I was around for tribunal, tell me what the machine learning picked out of my chat logs to determine it should be punished. I would love to hear it. I don't think machine learning is anywhere near where you think it is.

This community is ridiculous at this point, it's either the worst human beings on the planet trolling games, slinging racist temarks, or the flip side, people which will call the most mildest of not pure happiness "toxic". If you disagree with anyone you are toxic at this point.

Dunkey summed it up perfectly when he left. At this point riot should disable in game chat if they want this to be club penguin.

I mean I guess it could be considered harassment (cuz it was a lot of chat regarding one player and not positively). But I’d submit a support ticket in this instance. This isn’t ur first penalty is it? Prbly might’ve been punished cuz the system does technically stack with increasing penalties

There is. Harassment or something like that. But excessive negative chat/consistent nagging is treated as a reportable option tho I don’t think many people use it cuz there is a mute option (it might’ve been removed as an option by now... I don’t really report people so idrk atm). I think it’s more likely that the “inter” reported u... maybe also another person if they considered u annoying. Submit a support ticket.

I didn't blame riot for that, just saying it sucks. I do blame riot if they think this chatlog is worse than inting, which it seems like. I guarantee you he will get no punishment for this.

I don’t understand how u guys say this lol... y’all don’t own that person’s account... so u really can’t say whether or not they were punished. Based on one encounter. It’s like a horse... if it bucks you off cuz it’s in a pissy mood doesn’t mean it’s a bad horse, might just have been a bad day (doesn’t mean it won’t happen again true but that’s where the allegory runs away from me cuz there are a ton of things that go into a horse bucking, them being timid creatures but also headstrong at times... plus u can’t punish them too harshly cuz that’s abuse). Often times one report is all it takes for a player to change their behavior, if they don’t they eventually get permabanned and have to make a new account if they want to continue playing.

You really don't understand how people say this?

There has been tons of evidence of this, people showing accounts with tens or hundreds of games of inting, still on and playing. It's pretty common to see these accounts magically get banned when they are finally hilighted on Reddit after months, when recieving no ban previously.

Also someone can int one game and play normally the next 5 games and absolutely never get banned yet the people in that game still get screwed. I don't even blame riot, the amount of analysis to determine someone inting combined with the amount it happens makes it impossible to punish, and people who int know it, they can int, say nothing in chat, and move on knowing they got their way.

The only thing that frustrates me is it's obvious this guy won't get punished, he worked the system, but I complained about it and got a harsh punishment.

I really didn't think I'd be punished for complaining about an inter, sure if I called him names, said a bunch of racist or personal stuff, I'd expect it. But not just saying what are you inting, and can you ff if you are going to int so I can move on?

No. You didn't lose rewards from someone inting. Losing rewards from someone inting would be you being demoted back into bronze because someone inted when you were s5 at 0LP.

What you did lose rewards to was harassing them repeatedly.

It's been said dozens of times: Don't retaliate. Retaliation only leads to you being punished as well. Note that actually defending yourself - which in no way, shape, or form means to harass, insult, belittle, or mock them, but means SOLELY to refute their claims ("No, I'm not inting. What would possibly give you that idea?" is defending yourself. "Lel fuck off you troll you're the one inting" is not defending yourself, that is retaliating) - is not punished, only retaliating is. If they're inting/trolling/flaming, just mute them, take a deep breath, and look for a way to end the game quickly that won't get you punished.

tl;dr: Don't fight the troll by inting/flaming/trolling as well, that just gets you punished. Take a deep breath and let the IFS and Riot handle it - it's their job, after all.

Look dude, you posted on here asking if this was worthy of a chat ban. We've pointed out to you that you maybe excessively went in on chat to call this guy out and maybe that's why riot chose to chat ban you. I know thats probably not why you posted, and you were hoping that you would have alot of support. But alas, that is not the case. I know its not always fun to have a certain way, and have lots of people disagree with you, but take it as a time to reflect and change your ways. As i said since my first comment on this thread, going that hard in caht and constantly typing is distracting you, and your teammates, throwing all of you off your game and is an easy way to tilt people. I absolutely expected people like you to defend the automated system, people would defend anything around this game honestly which is one reason it's gone downhill.

I absolutely think this is the most ridiculous way to lose rewards for the season. I clearly stated I complained about an inter. The argument that I distracted the team while someone inted 13 times, is pretty laughable. The game was unwinnable because someone was making it unwinnable.

The refrain from retaliating is ridiculous to me. I'm sitting there farming waiting for their team to push, held hostage by an inter who won't forfeit, watching them take every objective cause we can't contest. You and I both know full well he will go on his merry way, play normal when he starts off well and int when he doesn't, pretend it's bad game and never get punished.

What recourse do we have? A report button that doesn't do anything related to inting, and god forbid we say something negative about it because we get banned by the automated system honestly when he reports with the only button hooked up to anything.

Sure if I said nothing I wouldn't have lost rewards and he still would go on trolling like an asshole, but I would argue telling someone what they are doing is wrong might get through their skull at some point.

I'd stand by this being an unwarranted loss of rewards 100x over. If nobody agrees with me it's fine, I guess the direction the community wants this to go is club penguin. They should honestly disable chat at this point.

I'm assuming you mean end of season rewards? You haven't lost those yet, if you can get to honor2 before the season ends, you'll get those end of season rewards.

If you are referring to hextech chests and keys, you still get them at h1. Just at a slower rate.
