I lost my border and got a 2 week ban for verbally abusing myself in one single game.

So, apparently I lost my border after I got a 2 week ban a week or 2 before the season ended. Prior to this 2 week ban, the last punishment I received was a 10 game chat restriction probably around 7 months prior. Which I deserved, don't get me wrong, but this is quite ridiculous to me. To give context, at the very beginning of this game I had somebody call me a "gay %%%got" as seemingly a joke to me. Being the edgy teen I am, I recently finished watching an iDubbbz video coincidentally and decided to go along with the nami calling me this by calling myself a "gay %%%got" 3 times throughout the game. To my surprise, I got trolled and the person that orignially instigated the joke reported me for some reason.

I was obviously joking when I was typing this in-game. There was no harm to anybody in-game, and if anybody told me it was offensive I would've stopped immediately. I find it really unfair how I have to go into my ranked games being shamed for not having a border off of me joking around in-game with somebody who initially instigated the joke. I didn't have any ill intentions, it was a single game, and my last 10 game chat restriction was a very long time ago. Could somebody please help me out here?

My new username is "crew7". I play the game a tremendous amount so this really makes me feel terrible when I load into ranked games because as a mid-high diamond player people will automatically assume I'm a terrible person which is a terrible thing to have when everybody knows eachother in higher elo.. I don't care about rewards or anything I just want a diamond border

You fucked up royally. It doesn't really mean anything that you were targeting yourself, because you still used hate speech, which Riot explicitly has a zero-tolerance policy for.

You can try to claim that you were baited and submit a support ticket in the hopes of leniency, but that's a long shot. You have no idea who reported you; a different teammate could easily have reported BOTH of you for your callous disregard of others as evidenced by your word usage. Since you're behind a computer, nobody has any fucking clue whether you're "joking" with that shit, so just don't say it.

The fact that you're calling it hate speech means you've missed the point of what he was doing.

No, being "edgy" in this case means "using words that traditionally have been regarded as taboo flippantly to take away their meaning, as a way to show that he is accepting of all people" -- so quite the opposite of hate speech. Read the chat, carefully, and realize that there is no hate speech directed at anyone.

Unfortunately, OP doesn't realize that context is not taken into account when these punishments are issued.

The whole point is words only have meaning when people give them meaning. And considering that OP did not give them hateful meaning, means that he was wrongfully punished.

You used the words {fucked, fucking, shit} in your post... These words could be seen as vile to some, but you used them in the most casual way, as if they are regular. So then why act so self-righteous towards the OP. I think you very clearly DO understand what he meant. I don't know why people are all so quick to attack people posting their bans online. A lot of people are getting banned for stupid reasons, and we should as a community recognize this to change the system.

Even Rioters, in their official Red Posts, and when presenting will drop curse words casually... perhaps as a way to show that they are "in tune with the younger crowd" and "easy-going regular people". But then in the most puzzling way, will go ahead and punish people for using those same words. Riot will in their advertisements say "we're all bad at some point", or call us "NOOB" when making an account, but go ahead and punish people for using those words. "Tip: Things can get heated in game, but hate speech is not tolerated..." -- except, things CAN'T get heated at all.

Yes, many if not most people posting their chat logs here are deserving of punishment, but not everyone. Let's use some common sense.

I'm not attacking anybody. I'm enthusiastically and explicitly demonstrating the way that OP fucked up, but I'm not attacking him.

The rules are clear: Curse words are fine, as long as they are used in a non-harassing manner. Slurs are never fine. Rioters DO pepper their posts with the occasional curse words, and my interpretation of that is that they're demonstrating the rules as clearly as can be: Nobody is getting banned for saying "fucking".

Your attitude and interpretation would mean a lot in some sort of trial, or performance evaluation. This isn't that. We're in a game that millions play, and Riot needs to keep order. It is ridiculous to suggest that Riot investigate, debate, and interview everybody that uses slurs to determine WHY they used them. It is simpler and more straightforward to disallow them altogether.

I read the chat. I didn't accuse the OP of attacking anybody. I DID accuse the OP of royally fucking up, and using words that makes him indistinguishable from a hateful troll. Riot agrees, and here we are. He's welcome to plead his case via a support ticket, but the law is broken and the punishment is clear.

So because you don't find offence in the word, I should accept your reality as the only one? Riot has a different opinion on the matter, one that says thats hate speech. now you can argue its directed at yourself so its not harming anyone. But hate speech is more than just the words, its the ideas behind the word. The word you used in the current period we're in is negatively assigned to that group of people Negative is the key here had it been something positive then riot wouldnt stop it

If you can't be a decent person, get off the internet. Same logic isn't it We're both trying to limit who can use the internet to a defined group of people Riot owns the place we play, if riot says its wrong and you disagree by all means take it elsewhere

Don't use overly offensive language. This is one of Riots extremely heavily enforced policies, to the point where even saying a trigger once in a match can net you an instant 14-day ban.

Since you already had a 10 game chat restriction, you're lucky that this is ONLY a 14-day ban and not a permaban.

Riot only reverts any punishments if the punishment was given out in error, which is not the case here, sorry :/

In another post, One of the riot dev said that they dont ban for "bad word" So you could say "Die Motherfucker" and it would be fine. But I mean, calling myself a gay %%%got is bad if im actually one mysaelf right? rofl. So if i tell my friend whos gay that hes a queer. i guess i get ban as well?

Riot absolutely does ban for homophobic slurs. Infact it's on the list of 0 tolerance words meaning you get banned for it if you are reported, no matter the context. I don't know why you would try to argue against that fact, because it's what happened to OP.

Riot doesn't reverts punishment only if they were errors.

I've been banned for 14 days for calling myself an f-word yet after asking the support they removed my ban.

I think that they mean they did something bad, and they use it as an insult towards themselves. I'm not sure if riot will lift the ban, but it feels as if their usage is questionable.

Yo, got a similar case where I called myself an f as well, getting a 14 days ban.

I mean there was a different context, but if I were you I'd try sending a ticket to the support, as they unbanned me after I explained the situation.
