I'm perma banned and here's my story.

I'd like to start off by saying I have played this game for 3 years and in the first 2 years of playing never received any discipline. In the last year however, I have received 14 chat restrictions, 2 temp bans, and finally a perma ban.

 A little background into the type of gamer I am.  I'm the girl who rolled a priest main in world of Warcraft.  I also mained a full tank warrior for my guild because it was essential to better my guild and honestly isn't the most glamorous or fun roll.  I prioritize scouting, early units for defense, and vision for my teammates in starcraft.etcetc you get the point. Basically my goal in every single game is to provide the best support I can to win/succeed.

 In this game I mained support.  I enjoyed it even though its nearly impossible to carry a team from this roll.  In every single que I would fill no matter where I was in picks.  I tried to keep the picks as civil as possible because ranked is a volatile place.  If my team had no tank and I was in a possible position to take a tank I would instantly do that in support of my team.  I posted before my chat logs and I don't use foul language or wish cancer on anyone.

My "problem" in the last year is that I finally started talking back to trolls and feeders. I would ask them to please play safer/ stop trying to engage 1v1 when you are down 3-0. If an adc died doing something he shouldn't and instantly blamed me I would tell him exactly what he did wrong without calling him a bad player. I can post again my chat logs that I was permanently banned for and you will see I am telling the truth. Was I the most positive person in the world when 2 teammates go double adc bottom and are 0-11 by 15 min mark? no I wasn't. did I wish them cancer or call them pieces of shit? no I did not. I asked them to play safer and cs under tower to which they told me to go fuck myself. After this game I received a notification that I was reported for negative behavior and then perma banned.

Even the report from riotlyte stated I shouldn't have responded to the trolls or talked to the feeders. that my actions were just as bad as theirs. It literally says I should just mute them and keep playing. so why don't they mute me? its all very confusing

 I am not here trying to get my account back.  I'm here to say you push away people who genuinely care about winning in ranked play.  the "tryhards" who do everything they can to win get reported after the game for telling feeders to stop feeding and asking trolls to plz at least try and cs.  Riot lyte focused so hard on taking negative behavior from text out of game that they don't even look at the context of the game.  guess what when you are on a team with trolls/feeders who are trying to throw the game its annoying.

The priority of the game creators should be getting rid of the trolls and feeders from RANKED. you don't have to ban people from the game entirely for such behavior. some people genuinely are not "tryhards" and may not take ranked that serious and that's fine. They should be moved into playing unranked games.

I know this was a wall of text but I felt like at least getting this off my chest before moving on to another game.

I am so sick of riot. Thier automated player behavior modification system is a joke and you won't hear anything from them other then how "successful" it is.

"You weren't as negative as you could have been", but we perma banned you anyway. That is the worst line ever. by thier own admission it means you showed restraint dealing with trolls but you were banned because riot lyte wants you take it on the chin and you gave a faction back on what you took while it should have been none?

The truth is the system is garbage and the statement "you weren't as negative as you could have been" shows how arbitrary it is. Basically if you type about 5 sentences in a game you get punished if you get reported by 1 troll in a few consecutive games.

The sentences could be harmless but the system says oh you were reported in ten games and you typed a few sentences out. You weren't as negative as you could have been but punished no matter what.

The trolls are winning this war and riot is to blind and arrogant to admit it.

Riot lyte is the biggest beta nerd on the planet. Imo this guy never played a competitive physical sport in his life or he would know agressive behavior is part of it. If riot wants to market e-sports they need to accept all parts of sports, and that means aggressive conversation.

Honestly it seems like (from your chatlog that you posted) you seem really condescending. Your first couple of paragraphs are you basically stating how superior you are in other games. This isnt WoW, or any other game. This is league and keep it at that. People dont care how you act in other games, all that matters is how you act in this game. People are always going to troll in this game (and basically any multiplayer game) this isnt the first time and it sure as hell isnt going to be last. We can only use what we got and sadly while its not something people like you had so many options to change, and even like you said didnt even say anything to the trolls at first i dont see why you needed to start talking to them now. The whole of a troll is to get you to retaliate. You take the bait and since they know how the report systems works they use it against you. If you dont acknowledge them they'll try everything to do it with their words or actions, all of which can be reported. But since you decided to take action you got ban for it numerous times. That alone should have told you to stop. Ive been playing this game for more than 5 years. Not once have i even gotten a notice of any type of warning. Mainly because i rarely talk in chat. People troll my games and yet i dont let it get to me. I wont give them the pleasure of it because that is all they are after. They know how serious people take this game and like i said before will take advantage of it.

All in all while i wouldnt say you deserve the perma ban of the content i have seen. We also dont have every single chatlog of all reported games, hell for all we know you could have just taken out all the offensive content in your post, this wouldnt be the first time someone did to try and prove their innocence! while im not claiming you did that, one can only wonder. This is only a couple and for all we know you could have said worst. Granted not as bad as wishing cancer, but with how Riot handles this type of reports its just best to keep your mouth shut, especially if you care for your account.

love it how riot isn't doing jack shit to the real problem.. Oh no, you perma ban an account, guess what all they do is make a new account and continue their toxic behavior. Riot isn't doing anything to help promote clean and sportsmanlike games. For instance, the winning team saying GG in chat when it was obviously a stomp, the losing team had an afk etc is considered toxic, and riot isn't punishing these players. A stomp does not constitute a good damn game.

Riot doesn't care about homophobic and racist words either because I've been in several games over the past two weeks that have the words, Queer, Faggot and N..ger all over the chat from BOTH sides of the field of battle and not once has riot done anything other than "oh here's a warning".

Chat banning also doesn't work because guess what riot, it only affects IN GAME and not pre and post game lobby where most of the toxicity really takes place. Honestly, I've seen more death threats and telling people to kill themselves in the post game lobby than I have ever seen in the past two nights alone and riot hasn't done a god damn thing.

It's obvious that their system does not work and yet they refuse to change or modify it. I'm sure that my reports are falling on deaf ears due to how much toxicity I do report these days. hell, it's almost to the point where I WANT to be toxic just because it seems that if your toxic in game riot will just give you a slap on the wrist, you have a game where you don't say anything or be toxic, and you're free to do whatever again.

I'm honestly ashamed that riot is actually promoting the toxicity. Ranked games are where most of the toxicity I've seen come from and if you're positive and don't intentionally feed you'll end up losing a metric shit ton of LP. Losing 25 LP and only gaining 18-19 isn't really a good system to help combat the toxic players (and this is with an even MMR to the division). Intentional feeders and toxic player have a strangle hold on our gameplaying experience and all riot does is sit there and twiddle their god damn thumbs (just like taking their sweet time in nerfing rageblade.. oh wait, they won't cause they like snowballing champions in the jungle and jax getting it and just 1v5ing an entire team..)

In closing, I hope riot actually DOES start doing something because in my eyes right now, they aren't doing anything.

That is the reality of this game now. It's not as bad in Dia+ since most people actually have a clue, but in the lower divisions its awful. Grinding new accounts is the worst. Riot doesn't care. They have no incentive to care. Best thing you can do is open paypal disputes and get all of your money back if you ever bought anything (no time limit, but if they revoke your access to goods ie: permaban, paypal policy demands you get a refund)

I think that we should probably be able to tell our teammates that they are playing badly, or that they just did something stupid, like walking into the enemy botside jungle at level three, and that's all I see here. How else are they supposed to figure out how to play better? Also, I feel obligated to tell the enemy team (and also my own sometimes) that there's been a rage quit, because it's pretty often that they just won't notice, and the simplest way to do it is to say "report the afk". I don't see any problem with telling people to report someone who absolutely should be without question.

Not to mention the sheer number of people in ranked who are obviously vastly worse than the OP who will never receive so much as a chat restriction.

I remember when riot would publicly acknowledge when somebody was unfairly punished, now if there's any inkling of evidence they delete the post or hide it or cover it up, to Maintain the "perfect stats" of the new system.

I myself (pre four strike system) was getting multiple restrictions which riot would say I didn't deserve in the email AFTER I was already done with it (I play a lot) I was happy they acknowledged it was false but annoyed that the support team doesn't have enough resources.

Same deal with a forum ban one time: I got banned once from the boards forever and riot later redacted it and let me back on the boards (them mods with their abuse of powers amirite?) Then the second case: I posted an image with the words "thanks my nig*a" And was banned for two weeks, I sent in a ticket saying something like "why was I banned for this when players can post the "aww shit nigga" picture?" 3 weeks later I got a response from support saying I was unfairly banned but they couldn't do anything Cus the 2 weeks had already passed.

HOWEVER

After this new four tiered system that is in place, I have no received ANY WARNING Or ANY punishments. Keep in mind I'm playing and talking the same way I always would when I'd get constant punishments.

When rito made this new system they fixed most of the "I got reported for verbal abuse but wasn't talking , they only reported me Cus I did bad" cases

Or other false report cases in which players would only report for verbal abuse and harassment because those two options were the only that led to an automated punishment.

So before this new system? Sure I believe you are unfairly punished if it happened pre 4 tier, but if all that's post 4 tier? then I think you might deserve it. I hate trolls and feeders too, but they'll always exsist amd you can't just remove them

As an user of this boards said once, Riot target only flamers and ban them because it can't target trollers/AFKs

I've got sometimes a message of my reports working against players that had bad behavior (racism, xenophobia, etc), but never against a feeder.

Wanna troll without being punished?

1 - Feed like hell since the start of game 2 - Don't type anything, so your chat log can't be used against you 3 - Watch your teammates react 4 - Profit

Jeez. After reading your chatlogs I'm never talking in chat again. Ironically there are people who are 1000x worse than you who get reported regularly who are still playing the game, just because the person who reported them doesn't have any weight to their votes after 3 seasons of no tribunal and automated systems doing 90% of the work. I'd never report someone for the shit you said. You weren't even flaming anyone. Sometimes I die and I type in chat....derp. Or I fuckin suck. Sometimes I might be like yas you fuckin feeder and he's like 18 and 0 or something. Sometimes i'm trying to legitimately help someone and they are just being an ass about what i'm trying to tell them and I tell them what they are doing is stupid and try to explain why. All this reporting people for passive aggressive and microagressions is starting to get ridiculous. They expect millions of people with different personalities, backgrounds, upbringings, and intelligence to all pretty much act identical in game with this fake "you can do it attitude" even under the worst of circumstances. No one is ever allowed to express frustration because that's "being negative".

the first chat log the adc started going off on me becaue he said he had 300+ ping and couldn't move then blamed me for not shielding fast enough like janna doesn't have a cooldown on it..

the losing streak thing was tryin to difuse a person saying he was gonna troll us

2nd game mid went 0-9 by 12 min mark because he didn't get jungle would just run into malz and die instantly and not buy items.

If this is why you were banned then you shouldnt have been however to get banned you must have done alot of bad stuff before that. Although the system is terrible I've had games with such annoying players who just dont see their mistakes and blame others for it.

lol if that what gets you permabanned then about one player in every two games should be banned. and trolls don't get punished for reasons. why. they are "technically" not doing anything wrong. same way people troll you in talking and forums and in chat without using dictionary offensive words but you get the sinister meaning and the reason for them. I have yet to find a system where it have some punishment for such malicious behavior. but don't really bother most forums including this one are actually a concentrate of the trolls that you see in game that have nothing to do but spread their toxicity. you share a problem you have. " your fault" . thumbsdown. go off rails to suggst you are wrong. you killed jfk and jimmy hoffa. its really annoying. imma stop coming to the forums because they are even worse.

to answer you. do you really think riot personally have enough people to read and make sure all the reports are legit? the millions of them everyday?. No. I don't. they have 1000 employees and i dont think 10% of them work in the support department.

most likely there is a counter that basically perma bans you after a certain number of reports no matter if they are legit or not or how big of an offense it is. its an automated system. i was banned for afk today and i was in a match. was not afk for 1 seconds. i just didnt do anything except cs a few and kill one person and get 1 assist. and die once. but i quit and stopped doing anything because we had two trolls that destroyed the game and i have to wait 100 minutes to get in my matches while they are prolly playing their next match .

i dont really report people at all. even afks. i understand there are good reasons to afk. its a game but you know pretty much most forum campers really dont have much else going on in their life obviously.

There are a few loopholes on the system since only a fraction of the reports goes to real people, most of the report cases are treated by a program that filter certain key words and only after several report on a short time (time as game splayed and no actual time) will result on an employee actually manually report it.

For example you can exploit sarcasm, sarcasm out of context will sound as either a dumb comment or as a positive comment (when in reality isn't) the reason sarcasm work is because the other player is pissed off already, to a cold headed person working on riot it will not sound as offensive as the player on the spot. Saying something like Good Job xxxx, after he/she died will be impossible to register as negative attitude with the chat logs alone.

what I'm trying to say is take every game as what it really is, a game and it will do wonders on your ranked games. You gotta get out of the tryhard mentality on any strategy game. If you consider you are playing the game for fun instead of for wining you will be more relaxed and you will take better decisions. I'm not saying you should stop trying to improve, just laugh at mistakes instead of making a fuss out of it, at the end of the day is not a job (outside the few hundred that actually do it for a living) so it shouldn't put more stress on you. Always try to win but don't make it the most important thing, play stuff that you like to play more than what the teams need over anything, if you like playing a tank and a mage and yoru team needs a tank just go ahead and d it but just don't pick a tank because your teams needs so even though you hate it, you will under perform.

Hey Summoner,

I took a look at the logs that led to your permanent suspension and I have some context for you.

First off, to clarify our stance on what we consider toxic behavior, while we have given some very specific examples of what would be considered toxic behavior (intentional feeding, racism, death threats, homophobia, etc) but those don't cover the entire spectrum of unacceptable behavior. We weren't being exhaustive, just giving some easy examples of toxic behavior. It's very possible that you can get banned for being excessively negative without swearing or cursing other players and it looks like that's what happened here.

We judge all behavior from players independently and we take action against any negative behavior that we find in the game. However, no matter what another player says and does, they can't force you to be negative and any negativity that you do show is always a choice. Ultimately, you are always responsible for your own behavior. While your behavior may not have been as negative as it absolutely could have been, it was still very argumentative and negative in it's own right. Given the fact that we have already issued 14 chat/ranked restrictions and 2 previous suspensions to this account in just the past year, we made it very clear that we take action against all negative behavior and that this can lead to permanent suspension.

Since this account has already had multiple chances to show improved behavior and those chances have been ignored, we will not be lifting or otherwise modifying the permanent suspension of this account.
