Trolling in Champ Select NEEDS to be punished.
It's extremely frustrating to face trolls in this game, as most ppl would agree. I find the system present to be VERY forgiving to ppl actively ruining others (in many cases: my) game experience. Just some minutes ago, a kid wrote 'I'll troll' in Champ select, picked Zed 'Support' and I dodged, assuming (from a LOT of personal experiece) that our team wouldn't be able to win 4vs5 - as did happen MANY times in the past. There HAS to be a way to NOT get the ppl who just act according to the rules (in this case, me) punished but the actual OFFENDER. But that's just not the case. All the trolls get away with it while I get -3 points just for the sake of it and have to wait for another try with possibly another troll - making -6, in total -9 for having done NOTHING wrong myself.
Riot is VERY harsh on 'verbal abuse', but this kind of BEHAVIOURAL abuse is not punished AT ALL.
A statement I found on reddit summs this up quite nicely:
'This is really the worst part. Having a reform system based almost entirely on in game chat and not peoples actions, which have a much larger impact on the game. Their automated punishment systems are so garbage, theres no reason people should be obligated to let other people waste their time. Allows trolling, spam pinging, hijacking champ select but punishes anyone who says anything about it or people who don't want to deal with it rather than the people doing it. What a ridiculous system'
Especially the last part is what really freaks me out: If you DO talk to people, try to calm nerves, try to tame the trolls, most of the time YOU are the 'bad guy' for 'tryharding' and the likes, making it even more likely ppl will intentionally sabotage the game.
There needs to be a change on that.
Spontaneous thought: Give players at least ONE free dodge for a given time. Or make it possible/ easy to report ppl BEFORE the game starts. Nobody wants to spend 20+ min with these people just to be able to report them AFTERwards.
I know I'm not the only one thinking and feeling that way.
