It's Not GG.....

So, recently, I've noticed an outstanding amount of players willing to surrender before the 10 minute mark in a game. The amount of games I've played where even first blood happened at the 3 minute mark and players on my team all yelled "GG" is astronomical! Maybe it's just me and my super competitive nature or my unwillingness to quit, but what is up with all the surrendering? Are most players just so self centered that when they don't win their lane hard, they just roll over and prepare for the next game? What about...I don't know...THE OTHER 4 PEOPLE PLAYING ON YOUR TEAM!?!?!?! I mean, you can't always be the carry or the guy that makes the super plays, that's why it's a team game. I can't count on all my fingers and toes how many games I've won 4v5, whether it was an afk or someone feeding hard, that teamwork and a competitive spirit won us the game. These games average times are 35-40 minutes for a reason. So I implore players....STOP GIVING UP SO QUICKLY!!!!! To me, it speaks volumes to the nature of a persons character and gaming ability when they give up so quickly because you didn't steamroll your lane like you imagined it, or you ran into someone that's better than you at this game. So it's not GG until they take the Nexus!!!!

How many people thought

"Its digiorno" after reading title?

The guy who thinks its gg 5 minutes into the game is just as bad as the the guy who wont surrender a 4 vs 5 that you haven't gotten a single turret and are getting stomped in. I hate both of them equally. Everybody has all these amazing stories about the 4 vs 5s they won under ideal conditions, but I have a lot of horror stories about 4 vs 5's I lost. If we're down like 20 kills and a bunch of turrets....surrender. If the whole team is flaming each other and you see no possibility of any teamwork.....surrender. If you're the only one doing well and you know you can't carry the people on your team.....surrender. I don't get why people are so opposed to giving a mfer 10-15 minutes of their life back in a game that they have like a less than 5% chance of winning.

In my experience it's usually the people doing the absolute worst on the team who WONT surrender. The people doing decent but realizing they cant win just wanna get on to a game that they can win. The people who wont surrender half the time are only dragging the game out to irritate other people on the team, hope someone does worse than them, or bait someone into afking or raging.

When nobody is working together, your team comp is shit, the enemy is fed, and they are just taking their sweet time closing out the game all while constantly getting stronger than you.....I see no point in dragging the game out. Games like that are emotionally draining because you see the slow descent into a big fat DEFEAT and even when it's pretty obvious the game is over people still wont just surrender. I'm not talking close games, I'm talking stomps that the other team won't end cuz people wanna finish their builds. Games where your only tank builds all armor against a team with 4 ap champs and all your carries have no farm, no items, and are just clinging onto turrets for dear life because everytime they stray from one they perish. Where half their team is running around in GA's pretty much adding insult to injury. These games are usually the biggest shit shows in terms of toxicity in chat as well.

TL;DR Screw that never give up attitude. But screw trying to give up because you're down a couple kills early game and nobody has even taken a turret yet, or because you're getting rekt in lane.

I generally ignore the kills when it comes to surrendering. I look at the turrets. If they are pushed the whole way into our base and we have only taken an outer or two, it's pretty much GG.

It bugs me when people word the polls bias like this always make me take a pass at voting LOL W/E though that's just me.

Okay, so my answer is the correct time to surrender is when the game is unwinable..Bad answer I know but less then 20 mins. if your losing that bad enough to quit then I guess the game will be over soon enough.

Actually, 1 or 2 is both fine for me and 3 is unacceptable. I don't like to Lose I don't Like to Quit. I never start a vote to quit...but yeah sure some games are a lost cause. Here's the most important to me though..NO LESS then 20 mins. :) I wouldn't mind seeing poll results haha

I personally do not buy into either extreme view. Both the willingness to surrender all the time and the unwillingness to surrender can lead to misreading the potential outcomes of a game. Being able to tell the gold and mechanical differences between teams is something that I think more player could benefit from. Being down a bit in each lane is of course something you can recover from, but if for example you look over and an opponent is 11/0/3 at fifteen minutes chances are you are not nearly fed enough to take on that kind of lead.

So sure sometimes I like play the game out to see if my team can make a come back, but sometime I think it is just denial to say that a comeback can happen in all situations.

Also I think that there is a large difference between calling for surrender and giving up. If my vote to surrender is shot down by my team I will still play it through to the best of my ability. The vote to surrender is just a tool for polling your team about a collective will to continue or not and should be used as such.

Well not only that, but a lot of players are starting to 'hasten the lost match' when they think it's lost already because they're 'wasting their time'. While in reality it's by far from lost.

King SlippyFist11/18/2015, 3:57:16 PM1 votes

That's what I meant by the self centered attitude. "I didn't do faker plays so GG I quit"...at like 4 mins in...

IMO, surrender should only be used if the enemy team is camping you at spawn and they aren't ending. I've had more comebacks in this preseason than ever before.
