Doesnt champ select chat get checked for hostile behaviour?

I do play quite a lot of aram as a meaning to fill time peacefully, and I dont know if reports in aram are less likely to get checked. But I had a recent game on Vi, whereas I asked in champ select if someone wanted to trade, simply as a nice gesture and got the response from a guy who said he wanted my virginity. I took it as a joke and said it was too late (as I am 31 and have a wife).

The response kinda suprised me though "Oh right I forgot your dad raped you while you were a child" right before champ select was transitioning over to loading the game, totally uncalled for.

Needless to say, I muted the dude and the guy was reported after the game, probably also by my teammates.

Despite that, the guy still plays every day like before, with seemingly no punishment of any kind or feedback that a report has been dealt with. In the end I wont play with him again as the odds are too low, but it irks me that these kinds of people obviously go totally unpunished, especially if it truly is 0.06% of the entire playerbase.

Or doesnt the champ select get "scanned" when a report is sent?

Pre and post game chat is checked, unfortunately that wouldn't escalate to an immediate punishment like hate speech would. So there is a good chance he received, or will receive a chat restriction. Chat restriction wouldn't show a stoppage in game play though, like a 14 day ban would.

There's a lot of unknown factors for you to just assume things the way you do. People don't get punished immediately for saying offensive things. Believe it or not, Riot is somewhat lenient. We are dealing with teenagers online, after all. I know that's no reason to excuse the behavior, but your report is adding to his accounts standing. He may have been chat restricted, he may have acted out of character and doesn't seem worthy of punishment yet. He may get reported the next time he does it, and all previous reports will add up to a punishment. You just dont know, and neither do we. But yes pre and post game chat are checked.

Yeah you guys are probably correct on these points, this encounter just bugged me a bit. Usually things are pretty smooth and chill otherwise.
