i don't understand why when we are in a ranked 5 stack when one of our friends afks, not willingly of course, he gets banned. We are all friends and don't mind when our friends have to do something during a game. i think that when players are in a 5 stack the leaverbuster system should be turned off. Now we have to wait 20:00 for 5 games.

Something you should know is that Leaverbuster does not punish you for a single incident. Riot knows that sometimes shit happens, and sometimes it's out of our control, which is why the built in some leniency for Leaverbuster so that it only punishes someone when they show a history of leaving/disconnecting from multiple games in a short period of time. So the fact that you're friend got punished by Leaverbuster means that he has a history of leaving/disconnecting from games.
Also, your friend received the 20 minute wait time, which is the harshest penalty from you can get, which means that he's been doing this a lot.
