Serious Thread About Bullying

I posted this here today to inform people and the league community of serious problems in the player base. I know people don't care to hear sob stories and some people even think that people that get offended online are wimps. But i for one am a person that plays league to escape reality and feel better in the online world, escape from stress and the bullying i deal with everyday, however today i decided to play league just like any day and experienced the most brutal and unbearable harassments I've ever dealt with playing this game. All because i "couldn't land skill-shots". All throughout the game without end i was harassed without end, and i can safely say that towards the beginning i said some means things back and there is no justification for that, by the time the game ended and our team lost, i was broken. I just decided i would post this to inform people of the bullying that goes on, not just in the real world, but the cyber one as well. Thank you for your time Sincerely a fellow league player.

Very well worded and spoken, but this is the wrong place to put it sir. I miss when the game was enjoyable as well. Edit: To clarify, there is no right place to put it, Riot's fanbase is the absolute worst.

Something that works for me when people on my team are flaming is to immediately mute them (don't talk to them at all because it is like throwing fuel on a fire).

Just mute them or do "/muteall" and never look at the distracting chat log.

Most of the time randoms don't say anything worthwhile so you won't be missing out on anything and can focus on improving your play. Hope you next games go better mate, keep your chin up :)

"Bullies" will only continue to bully you if you put up no resistance. Don't listen to the BS that people say "Just ignore them", NO, that is giving them license to carry on, the correct response is to assert yourself against them.... you might take some damage but it is far better to fall as a hero than live like a coward.

It is reversed online/in real life; In real life your best bet is to strike back. On the internet, your best bet is to ignore them.

I've gotten into over 10 fights as a kid from bullying, in one school year (forgot to specify) it only got worse. I'd get hit and beat up constantly even if I beat them up just as badly for hitting me. I'd go to authorities, they'd do shit, I'd get hurt even more.

Try experiencing bullying for 7 years before saying dumb shit like this.

Difference between bullying and self-defense. If someone is verbally attacking you as long as you're not getting violent you should be able to respond. You just said "stick up to them," but then say "you're a bully too."

I clashed with many people over irrelevant bullshit when I was young.... but anyway none of that contradicts what I said, maybe you should read what I posted earlier for your benefit...

The short of it is; **Responding to toxicity with toxicity is not the way. **I don't speak for Riot but I would be 100% positive that they would wholeheartedly agree.

according to lyte about 5% of the playerbase is toxic. regardless, "bullying" over the internet and in real life are two different things. there is no mute button for real life.

I always try to intercede if this sort of thing happens to other players. I know I can handle total strangers trying to be jerks to me but I can't know that about my team mates, or even the enemy team when that happens. I always advise my teammates to ignore and mute salty players if things get nasty.

I guess I'm just old (30 years-old), but the community for online games, that are competitive anyways... are always like this. Maybe you're still young and bullying has affected you a lot, but you doing poorly in a ranked game is honestly wasting 4 other peoples time. Would you really not expect recourse from someone that wants to win? From most of my experiences in this community (Only up to Plat3 being my highest) most of this comes from you either doing poorly or raging on someone who is doing poorly. I've done this myself, so when I lose a game... I generally realize I'm to blame for at least some of it because I probably put that person on tilt. Having a chat feature is pretty useless in this game, as far as ranked solo queue goes. Honestly, once pings were introduced I wish they would of implemented chat restrictions for all. Just my 2 cents.

I don't actually know but this stuff has existed since I started playing halo 3 back in 2005 and don't get me started on what call of duty was like, getting hate messages after a game or being called names or what not during a match was just part of it, while I don't condone any of this its just what anonymity brings, I don't think its just the league community as some people say but the game is just large now so you notice these things a lot more and the game is based in such a way that one person can literally ruin your game, naturally you're going to be upset and blame them if they show up miss all their moves and just die its the same as having that one guy going 2/15 in team death match, I also remember getting kicked from groups back when I started playing WoW and was a noob I also remember people being kicked for not pulling their weight in raids or just standing in fire, but anyways maybe I'm just old too or just not bothered by what people i don't know or will ever know say I actually start to laugh when someone starts raging at me for feeding just cause i know somewhere some random strangers hates me in that moment. and not everyone the same some people take it personal like op but man if a little bit of online banter is too much for you maybe online multiplayer team based games aren't for you, or you should just mute chat for every game

You being in your (early) 30s has a lot to do with it, you have something that young people do not have; Self-awareness.

I am in my early 30s as well and when I was young, I would have said the same thing as them... now that I'm older and wiser, I realize that it's not quite that simple. Some people are irredeemably toxic but that's a very small minority... the majority of people require a reciprocal cycle of toxicity rather than just going off on their own.

But for them to admit that, they'd have to recognize they are actively contributing rather than being "Boo woo, woe is me" victims.
