My Argument Against Chat Restriction

(So basically I got chat restricted for being "toxic" in 1 game. They saw negative words but didn't bother to read the context of it. I lost my honor level 4 and all my checkpoints and any hopes of getting honor level 5 before the end of the season. I contacted support about it, they didn't speak to me for 3 days and gave me a bot message. This was my response to that message.)

I'm really disappointed to get this message after waiting 4 days. I hope you don't mind me expressing my point of view on this, I just want to discuss it rationally as to why I disagree with you in some parts.

You contradict your self in two parts.

"If it's put into a public channel inside League, it's held to the community standards." "Not every player you run into is going to agree with what you think is okay, and what is not."

So who makes the community guidelines? Not riot, right? I searched it up everywhere to see if this exists, and it doesn't. I mean the summoner code doesn't specifically say what to speak or not to speak. Well besides this "Don't rage, blame or tear people down." which is in fact what my teammates were trying to do to me. So who decides what I said was wrong or not? Other players who decide to report me based on their views? Morality is subjective, right or wrong is based on personal feeling. That's where your argument falls apart because you are saying that I should be judged on what others think who the ones that are CLEARLY displaying toxicity.

I tried my hardest to play as well as I could despite me being 0/11 so I followed a clear display of "Never feed intentionally and don't give up the fight!"

A chat restriction is more than a slap of the wrist, it's comparable to someone having a perfect record of not doing anything wrong and having everything taken away from them on their first penalty.

I'm saying in my case this is what it is like. My honor 4 is locked, THIS does not make me want to "reform" it just makes me want to quit. I'm not saying I'll quit due to me spending way too much money and time on this game.

But in cases like this, it makes people just give up hope and not want to come back to the game. Sure you'll catch some people being toxic, I've managed to report many toxic players who've gotten punished. But your system is flawed.

Let me give you another perspective for you to look at. You and 5 other people are working on a project. There's a supervisor that puts rules in place for the group to respect each other and if things go wrong to help each other out and encourage each other if they are doing not so well. Everything goes well until you mess up something on the project, all 5 other people in your group start saying your work is shit. They say you should've never joined them on the project and you are just a waste of space on the group.

You could a.) defend your self and explain why you didn't do so well and tell them to stop. b.) continue working with the group and not communicate with them despite the tension.

In my case, I chose to defend myself and tell them to stop harassing me in hopes FOR THEM to treat me better.

When they decided to ignore the fact I told them to stop, I started being sarcastic back to them and said 1 line of toxicity that was WELL DESERVED.

In the scenario with you in the group, if you chose a and defended yourself, imagine your supervisor punished you for the way you defended yourself and everyone else in the group was left unpunished. Does that sound fair at all?

I'm not going to get my honors back before the season ends, and I never deserved this chat restriction. One game report made me lose all that. But honestly this is ridicilous, I know you are an employee but I see you more than that since you are a person.

Honestly if context doesn't matter. You NEED to write "No cursing allowed by the way!". When in that case just remove the language filter.

By the way may I remind you that my harassers are still not punished? Whatsoever? Meanwhile me who was harassed in game and tried to defend myself was punished.

Reporting is flawed because it doesn't even check the person who is being toxic chat logs. What kind of logic is that? They can talk all the shit they want and report you for talking back. Basically a bait, and they don't even get punished for doing that.

Do you believe that this situation is honestly "okay"?

The original database for the IFS was derived from the Tribunal. They've used machine learning from there.

Your argument is that your speech can be mitigated or justified by the behavior of others. While commonly expressed, that simply isn't how things work.

I do agree dropping from whatever level it was for one chat restriction is too harsh. For example a level 5 honor person going to level 1 locked is insane imo.

But usually these punishments aren’t over a single game, but over a set of games that showed negativity. The logs aren’t always the only reason a person was punished. They can be a sort of tipping point that leads to that punishment.

Also you’re saying that the severity of your words can be justified somehow because of another’s negative actions... League doesn’t work like that. If someone is toxic or feeding, report them. It helps, sometimes not immediately, but it really does help. It really sucks how other people’s actions ruin that match, but it’s better to lose that match than to lose the match, lose your honor progress, and be silenced for 10 games right?

Dude, mute your team in ranked. Always. No matter how okay they seem at the first glance, they will always be toxic pieces of shit, so don't even waste your time talking to them and risking your account. Use pings to communicate and that's that. No need to go skinny dipping into the river full of piranhas.
