Permabanned for Bad Behavior W/O a prior.

My issue is what it says on the tin. I've never had as much as a chat restriction, so when some guy was flamming me for getting blitz hooked I verbally lit the guy up, thinking that, since I've never been punished before, the worst I'd get is a chat restriction. And yeah, I get that I should have just muted and played, I'm not trying to say I was perfect, I am saying that the punishment doesn't exactly match the crime. I've been playing the game for a long time now, have made many friends and some really close friends over league. I love the game and managed to get to platinum in my time playing it. Considering it isn't like I'm habitually toxic or anything of that nature, it seems highly distasteful to take all that away from me permanently.

While the majority of players do go through the standard tiers of punishment, it is entirely possible to be escalated to a 14 day or even a permanent ban if your behavior is severe enough. Escalated punishments are generally given to things that Riot really has no tolerance for, such as hate speech, death threats, encouraging suicide, etc., but it's not limited to just those types of behavior.

Without seeing the chat logs that Riot sent to you in your in-client reform card, I can't say for sure, but if you truly have had no prior punishments, then it's quite likely that Riot deemed your behavior severe enough to escalate straight to a permanent ban.

Just do what I do, go troll in ranked. Watch people flame you, then THEY will get banned, because that's how it works in league. The innocent get banned, and the evil are fine.

Welcome to league's ban system. I had an account go to immediate 14 day ban without so much as an email explanation. When I opened a ticket asking why I was banned, my ban was escalated to a perma-ban without so much as a response. Oh well I have several more accounts and lately I only play this game to induce banworthy behavior in others and subsequently report them. I've gotten that popup message that 'a player has been punished because of your report' countless times because I'd say in at least 50% of the rated matches I play I see some form of rules violation that would lead to a punishment and I subsequently report it.

If they want to put a system in place that turns the playerbase into a pack of wolves out to end each other, then far be it from me to buck the system. Sometimes I play like crap on purpose just to see if it'll tilt a teammate into stepping over the line. I'll gladly induce other players into getting themselves banned. I see no reason to play serious and follow the rules if the violations are so rampant. The only fun left to be had is seeing just how tilted other players can get and then seeing them get subsequently banned. Even if you follow the rules in this game you can still get banned just for have a series of bad matches. You don't have to intentionally feed or assist enemy team for this to happen. Merely ending with a bad score enough times will eventually get you reported enough times to be banned. (this all assumes you are playing ranked, the punishment system appears to function less severely in non-ranked modes)

Slurs will do it. That's almost always what I see.

Death threats prolly do, too.

Why are you people downvoting this discussion? This is some valuable information for players with similar experiences. I frankly had no idea that it were possible to be instantly permabanned without a prior. More exposure could actually scare people into using the mute/move on method instead of flaming back. Don't just downvote the discussion just because you're biased.

it really depends, what did you say?

Cause from what i know is, Racial slurs or insulting sexual orientation are two of the known red flags for riot and can cause "insta ban"

you don't get a warning or suspension or anything, if you say those things multiple times in one session and get reported for it, your gone.

any chat logs to confirm?

I was under the impression that, while slurs will get your punishment escalated, somebody with a previously clean record would "only" get a 14-day ban.

did you use any homophobic or racial slurs or tell him to kill himself? because those escalate directly to a permaban.
