I got perma banned tonight, but I'm not that mad
Tonight I got perma banned after 4 1/2 years of playing league. I'm really not that mad about it, although it's a bummer to see years of effort burn out with that final game. I deserved it, I'm an incredibly vulgar guy at times. It's justified and I get it. The only thing that does irritate me, and my motivation for this post, is I have never, in all these years, initiated the abuse. I started out just muting people, especially as the tribunal/reporting system started improving, just waiting for the toxic and abusive people to get weeded out, but they didn't. You know the kind of guy I am talking about, the guy who feels the need to constantly harass you because you aren't meeting his expectations. I finally had enough, starting around season 5; I played 2-3 games of league a day usually as a chance to unwind after work and do something I enjoy... but I was no longer enjoying it, I was getting wound up rather than unwinding. Who the hell is this guy to come and ruin my enjoyment? So I started flaming back, and while probably less than half the time we would win a game like that, once I let the big guns out, they often shut up and left me alone and I would go back to playing; i didn't have to spend 45 mins being harassed, nor be reported for an afk and deal with a timer for the next game if I just decided I'd rather walk away than be flamed. In my experience, the number of people (since end of s2) who initiate flaming has steadily grown. While I think it's time I just call it a day and walk away from league, especially while newer MOBAs make their appearance, I'd like nothing more than for a more effective solution to be created so that LoL can be a less abusive environment so we can all enjoy our time playing.
