Riot ban system

So I made a smurf account to play with my friend who just started the game, and someone was trolling me so I called them a fag. Then I realized my error and that I would probably get chat restricted, so I thought "whatever, it's just a smurf account". A few minutes after the game, I got temp banned for 2 weeks. I was confused because I never had any infractions up until that point (new account). So I sent Riot a ticket asking them why I got temp banned, and they said it's because they have 0 tolerance for hate speech.

That's so fucking stupid. Being toxic is being toxic. It shouldn't matter what you say, everything should be punished equally. Everything you say are just words, none of them have more meaning than others. If I said the n word and a bunch of people got mad at me for it, then they're the ones making the situation worse. They're giving the word the power that they so desperately want it to not have. (idubbbz quote) But seriously though, if you're going to temp ban me for "hate speech", then ban every other person who has ever been toxic. Don't chat restrict some people and ban others, they're all toxic, give them the same punishment. Fuck you Riot, fix your system.

Regular toxicity is different, and it gives you more time to correct your behavior before the hammer comes down: the punishment system works on 4 tiers. The first is a 10 game chat restriction, then a 25 game. After that is a 14 day ban, and then a permaban. It doesn't matter what the amount of toxicity is, if you continue to be toxic, eventually you will be permabanned. When you're on the 14 day ban, all it take is one instance of validated toxicity to get your account permabanned.

However, these rules are thrown out the window in instance of hate speech, something Riot has a zero tolerance policy for (and calls to self harm but that doesn't apply here). One offence can take you from nothing to a 14 day ban.

That doesn't answer the question. There's no difference between calling someone a N%%%%% and calling someone a retard. One is hate speech and one isn't, big deal. They're both offensive, but one isn't classified with the other.

I honestly don't even know how to respond to that. If you really can't tell the difference between that, nothing anyone says to you will make any difference.

Because I say we should all respect each other and follow rules that we signed we'd follow when we started playing this game? Oh okie- but by that logic how are you not? You are playing a game that literally had what you don't believe in, in the T.O.S.

By your own logic you're enabling them to do said behavior because you agreed to the terms laid out for you to even play the game.

Words are made up, but it's the context and meaning that gives them the power that you for whatever reason believe doesn't exist.

Do you have a name? When you're called by the name does that not elicit a response of attention? Same thing, but instead of attention it's a negative reaction caused by what the words mean. If you can't understand that.. I don't know what to tell you.

I could care less what people say about me, I've been ostracized for most of my life in real life. I'm used to it, that doesn't make it right or alright for people to shit on others simply because they have lost the ability to empathize or care for other people's feelings.

If you can feel good about someone complimenting you or telling you good job in a game, then you can feel bad by people calling your horrid names too. It's a two way street regardless of what you feel is the case.

actually this seems quite asinine no offense to the LGBT community, but there are plenty of you that use "%%%" just as freely and in a context that was more relevant to the 80's and 90's. Meaning its not always meant as "gay bashing" but just as a swap word for douche or bitch (it means bundle of sticks or cigarette to begin with)

Why am I even debating this? Because it is absolutely backwards that intentionally ruining a game with troll plays for 30 min isn't a faster ban than the non troll who swears in chat.

They just keep trolling and you get in trouble if you tell them off. I get Riot's stance that they don't want to be a fight mitigator but the increase in frustration is slowly moving players away from just talking shit in chat to silently throwing the game. Truth be told, I'm just telling what you NEED to hear/read, not what you WANT to hear/read, this is why people get so overly dramatic about being called something as petty as "loser" or anything like that, they're sheltered, I faced actual struggles in my life and now these "mean words" are idle to me, I'm pretty sure if you were hit in the back of the head with a stone every day it would actually take the sting out of being called a "fat ass"

but all in all, it's someone YOU DON'T KNOW, and NOR DO THEY KNOW YOU, thus making those "hurtful" words all the more empty.

Let me preface this by saying I don't think people should be banned for saying anything. Mute functions exsist for a reason, also if someone is too delicate to hear this type of language they should not be on the internet. Also, riot could just allow the snowflakes to disable chat.

The problem is that if you are going to ban for saying mean things, you cannot pick and choose which things are mean. If you had called him a "meaniehead" instead, in my book that would be grounds for the same punishment.

All the current system does is allow people who are too delicate for truly toxic behavior to be as toxic as they can while protecting their delicate minds from people who would hurt their feelings. poor snowflakes.

Nevermind that the snowflakes deserve every second of toxicity.
