The Problem With Automated Pattern-Matching Punishment

So I was recently suspended from the game, due to the chat log from this game. I encountered a 4-man who said some extreme sh*t in champ-select, and telling the enemy team resulted in an immediate suspension. The log pretty much say it all. I sent in a support ticket, but they have yet to respond.

So I guess the point is: Every time you type in certain words (and get reported in the same game? idk if thats required) you** WILL** get punished. The system can't look at context, and it takes a frustratingly long amount of time for a person to eventually maybe not intervene. The only thing that matters is if your chat has a pattern of letters that matches what the system is looking for.

Personally, I would love a comprehensive guide to what will get you insta-punished-no-matter-what. In the meantime, I'll rely on people witnessing reportable stuff firsthand, instead of getting other people to help report them.

Also, does anyone know if the report system checks pre or post-game logs?? The enemy swain told me it doesn't and a support ticket is my only option.

Wait for the support to answer and then please update us :)

The system doesn't yet recognize when you are simply quoting people, but I HAVE seen cases where support lowered or removed the punishment in cases similar to yours.

An automated system is a necessary evil. Even with a company as big as Riot, even with all the money they make, it wouldn't be possible to do manual reviews. League is just too huge.

Not entirely. For the 0 tolerance words that IS the case. Part of the IFS is a machine learning system that is constantly learning. Depending on the setup, the machine learning system might not be able to just implement all the rules Riot set up. Eventually it will learn it though.

In the mean time Riot had to do something about all the hatespeech and encouragement to self-harm. So they implemented another system that just scanned for words they specified. It's an inefficient, bad system but Riot decided it was better than nothing.

There are some problems with that:

Giving a comprehensive guide is impossible since the system constantly evolves. A comprehensive guide could be outdated within a short amount of time.

Though the 0 tolerance words could listed. But just use common sense. Hate speech (racism, homophobia ect.) and ecouragement to selfharm are the only things instantly and extremely harshly punished.

Another problem is that a comprehensive guide would be really hard to write. The machine learning system can't just spit out a list of things that are punishable. Some things are more punishable than others. Some things only get punished if combined with other things. It's too complex.

I don't believe the system checks for pre and post-game logs automatically. You can still report it, you just have to write it in the box and it will be sent to manual review. You don't get punishment feedback from it, and it might take a while for anthing to come of it, but Riot says it works.

Good luck OP I hope you get Riot to take a look at your case. Have patience, support tickets usually take roughly 2 days - sometimes more or less - to get to the front of the queue.

Here's an upvote in the meantime, hopefully someone at Riot will see your post and set the record straight.

Good day FML AFK unfortunately from what I'm seeing on your chat logs that you posted, you repeated flag words which is why you got flagged as well. If they are saying flagged words and being toxic, it is best to mute them and report them after words. Retaliation is not alright. Good luck in your future games summoner!

UPDATE: Yay! the suspension was lifted, and I was just too impatient coming to the boards.

"I will remove your two week because I understand where you were coming from and that you did not say them yourself. But in the future, don't engage with them because then you're held responsible for your words."
