To all the people who complain about getting banned for retaliating to toxicity

Why do you respond in the first place? Do you really have that little self control that you can't just mute, report, and move on? Do you think by responding you are sprinkling some magic fairy dust on them and they are suddenly going to change? There is absolutely no good that can come out of to responding to a toxic player and most of the time they are just trying to egg you on and get a rise out of you. You are falling right into their trap. If you don't respond they will get bored and not care anymore. An eye for an eye will just leave the whole world blind.

Cuz that is human/gamer nature to respond in self defense. Self defense should never be punished.

That's like saying someone tries to kill you and then when you shoot them you are also at fault, it's stupid.

I don't encourage being toxic back to the point where it detracts from your own gameplay, as I usually ignore kids like that, but punishing self defense shouldn't be a thing either

Well, I usually don't, but sometimes after you know, 10-30 games it gets tiring and sometimes you slip up.

I'm not/wasn't aiming to change them, I just find it ridiculous that I have to put up with it so often, and sometimes I feel like putting them in their place. Sure, there isn't any positive outcome of me doing so, but if I'm that flabbergasted then I'm probably not entirely up to playing with 100% effort anyways. An eye for an eye might leave the whole world blind, but a finger for a head won't.

Some ppl who play this game need to be gunned down in front of their PC. Especially those "I wish you cancer" ppl will trigger most of us in an act of self defense which leads to the circle of flaming. However its those ppl who ruin this game and its those ppl who need to be kicked out. Riot missed that for years and now they ban everyone even ppl who dont deserve it.

also. the vast majority of the time. retaliation is mostly done just to make the person feel better. and also some of us weren't born in the "tattle generation" and were instead taught "dont let the bully win or it will escalate" which it usually does" which leads to the other problem. if a troll isnt getting a reaction or if they figure out you've muted them. they will 9/10 times resort to feeding or in game trolling to get a reaction. by giving that reaction before it escalates. you keep them at least playing the game

The very fact that you even made this thread proves that you're the type to respond to other's behavior. Stop acting all high and mighty.

also. the "no retaliation policy" encourages trolls to try and bait people into getting banned.

Because of their ego. It's really just that simple.

It has been pretty well demonstrated that the higher an individual's self-esteem ("esteem" means admire), the more aggressively and more likely they are to lash out at anything that challenges that. If you want a demonstration, just go into most any "I just got punished thread" and you will find a "discussion" where it is exceedingly obvious that you would be watching a self-centered child arguing with a self-righteous child.
