Toxicity & Improvement
I want to say first off that any form of hate speech is intolerable. But some forms of toxicity can actually improve the player, to some extent. Obviously it could have adverse effects on different people, but I think that a little 'criticism' could go a long way. Being told you're bad and you'll never be shit can be a driving force to improve your play in the game. Yes, for casual player they won't really care, but casual players really shouldn't be playing in Ranked anyways (especially in such a competitive climate). I think Riot should be much more lenient with their report system. See places such as Korea where toxicity is tolerated at high elos. People open mid, go afk, and all the rest. Yet the best of those there are considered the best in the world, because there's a constant and very pressuring push to improve play.
I mean toxicity not in terms of racism or hate speech in general, but things that aren't very personal. saying things like "mid difference, jungle difference, etc." can be enough to make someone critically think about their play. Maybe your jungler pinged you and told you in chat in a rude way that you shouldn't be complaining that you got ganked when you push up without warding. Maybe your support is yelling at you for being an ape at csing. There are all very valuable pieces of information within the rather unkind comments.
All in all, toxicity is bad, yes, but if you keep acting like competitive league is a safe space, there will be very little factors to push someone to try harder. But what are your opinions? Do you think toxicity should be eradicated, or should some forms of it be tolerated?
