Question for Forum Frequenters

Just curious how many people view this board, and if they'd be willing to answer a few questions for me. I've noticed that Riot seems to offload a lot of the player policing onto members of the community. In my humble, and imperfect inspection of the boards and said process, I do see some sincere posts being just completely flamed and trolled by other players.

So my question is... Does Riot's method even work. and is it fair to us, the consumers?

I am not banned, I am not in low priority que. Just concerned that Riot doesn't seem to care about improving their community, that's all. I mean, why ask players to go to a forum like this where they become trolled here like they do in game... No one wins in that scenario.

There are plenty of people that are actually here to help those who come looking for it. If they have questions about their punishment they can ask in a Support ticket, but Player Support can't handle everyone that wants to ask a question without ridiculous ticket times; it is just faster to just ask people here that know. Riot even has an officially supported program (Arbiters) for volunteers to help out in this regard, and they have Riot contacts to get help with that.

Where exactly do you feel Riot isn't giving enough support?

They obviously care about the community. They are trying their hardest to clean up the community. Not just from toxic behavior, but for people trolling, cheating as well as other rule beakers! With that said one is usually easier to find than another. Don't let that mean that they only care about those types of rule breakers.

This section of forum is just a troll fest for people who raging and upset about game to call each other "toxic" (since when is calling a person poison not insult?)

Most people that want/get help from riot are intelligent enough to post in the help and support section.

This section is for trolls like Nami (who use to be one of those so called police) can feel big and important. They didn't care what Nami did here till nami crossed the line and trolled riot. Now nami has no blue name.

So to answer your question this is just league of legends version of 4chan

Very much so like the old unskilled player report that made some people feel better but never ever ever did anything.

It feels like they can only concentrate on one thing at a time.

The current line is that not enough energy is being spent on making matchmaking not suck because all the backend energy is spent working on the new client. Which I could believe, but the new client has been a thing for months now, and meanwhile awful matchmaking is something every single one of us have to deal with every single day! I mean, unless the thing is going to literally set people's computers on fire when they troll in pregame, it's a different, less serious problem being solved.

it's like this man - this game isnt subscription based or initial fee based. all of the in game items are cosmetic minus the runes and champs - both of which can be earned through constant play. that means that this game is operating on riot points only and the only reasons why people even buy those riot points is because of impatience or because of exclusiveness. that means little funds unless they create content that people want.

with low amounts of funds - you shouldnt expect massive teams to be working on each project. maybe 3 or 4 at the most.

league is popular and competitive so it's going to attract a lot of people - unfortunately a vast majority of those players are not joining for the experience so much as they're joining to prove their worth. that leads to a lot of negative behavior in the community.

these forums for the most part are a cheap way for a company to keep up with community opinions. they were here in the beginning and so they're still here. lots of game companies use forums as a way to notify players or to try and bring everyone together. after all the idea of the forum is based on the ancient forum that's basically just a place where community members gather to talk about similar interests or events being held in town.

i'd say less than half of the people who play leagues actually use the boards. i dont know for sure but that's my personal guess.

riot's main goal should be providing content that players want while continuing to leave room for new content they havent thought of yet. everything else is secondary to that goal otherwise league will collapse from lack of funding.

do they care about their community? most definitely. do they have the manpower to correct it? definitely not. communities have to fix communities. the only way to do that is by reporting players who break the summoners code.

so what's the end game you might ask? well in truth there is no end game. riot's going to ride this falling satellite into the ground. hopefully it stays in orbit a few more years, but that all depends on the community and how everyone treats each other and whatever the children around 14 or so decide they find cool and fun worldwide. each time you tell some whiny kid that they should get off the game... you're shortening the lifespan of this game by a few years.
