That same number is out there for years now. I remember seeing it when I just started the game (season 3/season 4). I highly doubt that number didnt move at all during all those years.

That said, my post is more about the kind of logic OP employs. Especially considering it's obvious that giving out more statistics would not actually change OP's mind, because he'd just call Riot out on "lying" again.

If they were to admit to the higher number that it is, I'd be somewhat pleased. But yea, you're right. If they're lying now, whose to say they wouldn't lie later? Prime example is how they treated Tyler1. Dude still toxic, but he brought money and entertainment to the community.

Speaking of riot lying, can you actually believe them about anything with the game being in the state it is and them showing us the past 3 seasons they don't care about the majority of their playerbase just pro competitive play?

Maybe it's not that high as people think, but it's definitelly higher than it was several years ago. So it would be nice if we were able to see actual numbers. Moving players wishes aside, it aint okay to not show updated stats. it can be either a sign of lack of care/professionalism, or they might intentionally hide the numbers so it doesnt look like the amount of punishable players increased.

Either way, it wouldnt hurt them to update it.

I can handle a "kid" insult cause I know I'm not. I can handle my teammates calling me worse cause I know I'm not. Back in arcades, you couldn't ban a smack talking player from the arcade. Why? Cause it's just a video game.

Well, from how many players seem to post about bans I think it's fair to assume that the percentage is not this low.

The fact that the number of people actually playing the game has undoubtely gone down after so many years after this statistic was shared is already a pretty big hint. Add in the fact that people are more likely to act with toxic behaviors due to the game's quality getting worsened every other months, and you have at least some reason to question those stats.

Then again, maybe those stats do hold true, but they certainly look weird at first glance and only become even more questionnable with every concerned aspects you actually consider. Then again, this wouldn't be the first time Riot falsifies stats or willfully tries to hide real ones, the ranked system and MMR has been basically doing exactly that for almost a decade now.

0.006% of accounts got permanently banned as of when that statistic was created. It has not been reevaluated since then. Given how that statistic will include inactive accounts, accounts banned for not-toxicity (iirc), and will include smurfs (I have 5 accounts and none have received any kind of punishment) I don't think the statistic is so unreasonable... provided you look at it with those caveats.

How about we just do simple math?

80 million players in a given month.

80,000,000 x .00006 = 4,800 players. Doesnt add up. I come here for years since the new ban system and have probably seen more people than that post about it.

I mean, even imaqtpie got a chat restriction.

Meanwhile you got players like nightblue and tyler 1 who are still super toxic. But just because they got connections they can keep playing. But again, imaqtpie got a chat restriction months back.

The ban system is some sort of Nazi Germany censorship that I would compare to facebook. Basically Riot is so greedy and so rich that they dont want to spend the extra money to open centers where people read through reports all day and hand out punishments. Instead they swear up and down this system is foul proof and then when someone comes on here being banned for saying GG EZ. In comes a Rioter to try and make sure everyone still believes the system is good. I remember when the tribunal was around. Sometimes you would get many many chat restrictions before they actually banned you. At some point my buddy got a 100 game chat restriction before they banned him.

This all comes down to money and how much they can save just supposedly having and AI instant penalization system that makes 0 errors. I wonder what Elon Musk would think if he seen what was going on with this game.

Just my 2 cents.

Edit: Also it's very easy to get tilted in the system they have set up for match making and they have even been quoted as saying "making it harder" to climb because of so many smurfs.

But how did we get smurfs? Well most smurfs come from getting banned. Or they buy accounts. Basically riot put a band aid on another band aid without stitching up the actually cut.

Also, that number is meant for "permanently" banned accounts. Not everyone who posted on this board received a perma ban.

Let's do some math shall we. I just counted a bunch of posts for a weeks worth of PB threads. Some days range 20 posts while others get 40-45. Let's balance this out. Let's say 15 posts a day about a perma banned account. Well multiple that by a year in days, 365, x 3. that would make almost 17k players in the past 3 years. So the statistics they give are some sloppy guess trying to make you feel like the worst of the worst when you get banned. Not falling for it tbh. big jump from 4,800 to 17k would you think.

I doubt the average for people complaining about perma-bans on the board is that high. Most of the complaints on the board regarding punishments are for chat restriction to 14-day bans.

Some complaints are rage threads from people whom are already banned, have posted about it, and still stick around to continue voicing their opinion.

Finally, some people are those that contribute more than just one perma-ban. They continue to get perma-banned multiple times and come to the board multiple times about their perma. Since those that behaved poorly enough to be perma-banned one time will continue to get perma-banned if they come back to the game and refuse to change their behavior.

An article from a few months ago said LoL had a monthly active player base of ~80,000,000 players. Multiply that by .006, and you get just shy of 500k. That sounds about right (not including bot accounts).

OP says .006. Even at just 5k, we are talking about permanent bans, and likely excludes those banned for botting or 3rd party programs. 5k permas every few months or however long the assumed interval doesnt sound wrong either.

Whats funny thinking about is even if 1 million players have been permad, more players have actually left this game than being banned cause they refuse to fix it.

Because as mentioned before, it hasn't changed since the days of Tribunal. 500k is still far to small a number compared to 80 mil worldwide. TBH idgaf about any region other than my own because the game originated here and if you isolated our region, I bet the statistic goes up to about 30%. I am a season 3 player. 5 accounts banned. Why? Cause "going aggro in chat" is the crime. Not actually typing insults or saying bad words. I have seen the same message over and over and over and over again. I'm not toxic. I just use chat too much.

So lemme explain, that means for just typing and being disliked by only ONE person out of the 4 - cause it only takes one report apparently, which is bs cause one honor should negate the report in all honesty cause at least one mature person thought you were swell and an asset to the team - you get punished. I get punished for being experienced and trying to say "hey maybe if you wanna kite, use the attack move click button" and then get responded to with a "stfu" and I go to all chat to say "report X, he's toxic" and then proceed to have a dialogue in all chat explaining why he is toxic, I get punished. Because that's considered going aggro. Prime example is a game I had today that sealed an account of mine, not this one, oh no, I know the game already. Rengar was upset I picked Sett support. But I got our adc fed, and for some reason he still felt the need to type "Sett is a fucking %%%%" in all chat because he was wrong accusing me in champ select. I did nothing but good for the team and then took to all chat to ask for his report. After that, I proceeded to mute him. But THENNN he stopped jungling for our team. Ignored objectives and afk pushed lanes. He didn't like being ignored or wrong. I told em in all chat what he was doing. But sure enough. After game, boom. Ban. And that wonderful statistic which has been unchanged since my early days of league, was there to greet me prompting this post.

Kids don't like people who are right or experienced players who try to coach them. They are so sensitive they take offense to your existence and report out of spite (which if Riot didn't want players to do in the first place - 1) probably don't include chat in your game and take a note from Genesis, the console moba, that uses a click wheel instead of chat or 2) finally include team voice), NOT TO MENTION enemy team reports because they just find it funny and wanna watch the world burn. But Riot won't do the actual remedies. Why? It's a simple way to generate money from addicted players who already invested so much time into the game, they can't leave until they decide to pick up another hobby that they can sink 7 years into that is just as addicting.

I know I outed myself with the admittance of bans, but observe the replies to this thread and see how many "good hearted" players point that out in attempt to take a shot at me. Those are your toxic players. There's no need to insult me or my picks. I play support because I enjoy taking weird stuff in the role and throwing people off and after 7 season, yes, I can play any role, but this is where I shine BECAUSE of my picks.

Thats not toxic, thats just pointing out facts. You were permabanned, which means both the community AND RIOT dont want you here. You dont get to flip it on the playerbase. You cant even argue it was a mistake; you have multiple accounts banned. They cant stop you from coming back, its free to make an account, and any measure that could be implemented to stop it would either be easily beaten or cause more harm than benefit, but you can ask any rioter. They will tell you to go elsewhere, that is riots OFFICIAL stance. They dont want you here, and they dont care about your money. That is what a permanent ban means.

Never have I used an email and was rejected to get a new account or a current account deleted for having the previous account banned. If they want to make perma's permanent. Blacklist emails.

Maybe because theres no real point to blacklist an email, given you can literally circumvent that in less than one minute? There is literally nothing you can do to stop someone from playing. T1 had an "ID ban" that meant when riot knows for sure they are T1, the account gets banned. Which only really amounted to any account he streamed on. Unless you are ID Banned and actively stream, theres nothing they can reasonably do that wouldnt be easily circumvented or do more harm than good.

And even an ID Ban takes a lot of resources to effectively enforce.

Maybe because theres no real point to blacklist an email, given you can literally circumvent that in less than one minute? There is literally nothing you can do to stop someone from playing. T1 had an "ID ban" that meant when riot knows for sure they are T1, the account gets banned. Which only really amounted to any account he streamed on. Unless you are ID Banned and actively stream, theres nothing they can reasonably do that wouldnt be easily circumvented or do more harm than good.

And even an ID Ban takes a lot of resources to effectively enforce.

Again, you cant take the moral high ground here, especially just by tossing words you clearly dont know what they mean. It takes 4 offenses to reach a permanent ban, none of which are single games. And its not like its going to be one game flagged every 100 either, youre likely negatively impacting >50% of youre games to some degree AND a decent portion of them are likely more than one minor instance. This is just for ONE permanent ban.

You might be able to successfully argue getting permad once was a bit of an over reaction.... Youre not a positive player by any means, but maybe you started to get better. But when you have a half dozen accounts permad? You cant argue you were wrongfully banned at that point. You cant even argue you have reformed.

I don't think you're wrong. I actually think you're kinda brave for admitting all you did.

I think the system is wrong. And players like him are very aggressive about their selective community for no reason. Kinda reminds me of racism. It doesn't seem like you're a bad guy and this guy's view is, as you say, skewed.

Depends on the language, interpretation, and what is actually included.

There is a difference between players and accounts. We have a digital fingerprint but I'm not sure how well/accurate the system is for separating that.

You have to also account for abandoned accounts since they aren't actually banned, just dormant.

Finally, there is a difference between permanent and suspended. Some accounts aren't banned but locked for security reasons. Some of these get corrected but I'd wager some don't.

I presume that it's so people who get perma'd say to themselves "shit.. I'm so bad that I'm grouped with such a small group of players" or something, so that when they inevitably make a new account, they'll be more careful. I'm not saying it's justified, because it's not, but that's probably why they do it.
