I've received a fourteen-day ban for use of the word "%%%got". I got angry at the enemy team. Now I know it's a naughty word, but rito tells me I was banned for unsportsmanlike conduct. My conduct was extremely sportsmanlike, so ultimately I was banned for using a naughty word--a word which I'd have stopped using and apologized for if anybody had spoken up rather than quietly reporting me at the end of the (very pleasant) game.

Everything I said (except for "gg" at the end) was in team chat, and apart from momentary outbursts, I was quick with a compliment to my teammates for their successes, while not criticizing their failures.

I know the majority will be against me on this, but it's bullshit. I didn't use the word in a hurtful or homophibic way or say anything unkind to anyone. I groused quietly in team chat about the enemy Alistar disrupting up my Sion Qs.

The community has spoken ad nauseum about the use of hate speech. Punishment of this type is usually escalated due to how disliked it is.

In your reform card, it mentions the next punishment will be a permaban, but you can get your account back into good standing.

I don't think it said anything about a permaban. It just said I won't earn loot until I reform... but I'm already reformed. I'll wordfilter %%%got to fucknut, maybe rito will consider that reformed.

I'd be interested to know if my conduct was recognized and that's why I wasn't threatened with a permaban. I'd feel a lot less cheated. Or maybe I was threatened with a permaban and just didn't see it, because you can't access those messages once you click "I understand".

I don't think it said anything about a permaban.

Wheter or not it did, permaban is the next step.

Understand this: The tolerance level of the punishment system right after the 14day ban ends, is almost zero. I recommend best behavior if you want to keep the account.

No the next punishment is always a perma except of if you so good for like a year or more. The reformcard says if this behaviour continues, your Account will be permanently suspended.

The word itself has baggage. It has weight. It's not to be used lightly due to that. I'm glad that's being realized through this post you made though :)

sidenote: I'm not sure the typing sends the vibe of someone that would "just stop using it and apologize for it." They probably just didn't want to add fuel to the fire, something that is admirable actually. I'm really surprised they bit their tongue.

Because acting in this way is unsportsmanlike conduct. At no point is the use an offensive slur ever allowed by Riot, and the rest of the chat isn't really much better.

It is pointless, obnoxious anger and rage that you displayed, not sportsmanship.

And you think that excuses you for using the words you did? Great, ok, so you said "nice job" and "gg". That doesn't excuse the use of the slur.

You're minimizing. And it's only a slur if I say it in a hateful way. Furthermore, you can't see the full context of everything--but I was communicating with my team, giving up health relics, blocking damage for the squishies, and peeling. I was the picture of a sportsmanlike player.

To answer your question, yes, sportsmanlike conduct excuses the use of a naughty word.

Ok, lets talk about "minimizing"

First off, it does not matter what context you were using it in, offensive slurs are flat out not allowed. That is Riots official stance. That is why it is punished so harshly.

Second off, at no point in your defense, have you done anything more than trying to deflect from the issue at hand. You either try to claim "I didn't mean it in an offensive context" before then acknowledging you know its an offensive word to use, or just trot out the claim of about how you are supposedly acting in a good manner, even though we've well established that chatting like this....

That's pretty shitty that you got a 14-day ban for using that word and not directing it at someone, but I don't think the Instant Feedback system is tuned to understand the context that the word was used in. It probably only detects particular words. My advice for the next time would be to just vent out loud to yourself and not type it if it isn't information that helps the team.

Name one sport in the world where someone using homophobic slurs would be described as "sportsmanlike".

There is none.

Your teammates are not obligated to point out toxic behvior to you.

They have every right to report such chat messages quietly...in fact, that's the best way to deal with toxicity: Mute and report.

If the allistar was in the enemy team and if you didn't insult him directly(so not trowing the f_g over the all chat) over all chat I don't really have a problem with your chat personally.

However, somebody did tho, you might have had a gay guy on your team or somebody might be tilted as all hell and decided that people insulting the enemy team needed to be reported. Riots report system needs somebody to report you, so as annoying and tilting as it might be for you, you insulted somebody bad enough that they reported you.

Also I would suggest using fuck or friggin over f__ as those words don't insult nearly as much people.

Yea well, most people get told to stop being a snowflake and mute them when they ask people to stop saying a slur, so they do what they're told.
