So, in playing ranked solo queue, if two people leave the game - on purpose, at the same time, creating a 3v5 - I don't think that should count for a loss on my behalf. There was absolutely nothing I or my teammates could do. Is there any way to combat this type of behavior besides reporting? Or any way to get my LP back?

You AFK or DC and you have 5 mins to return in Dota. You don't return and everyone else gets loss prevented and you get put into Low Priority Queue with other flamers and leavers until you win 3 games, and you only get a handful of champions to use to win the 3 games with as well. People stop acting up because it can sometimes take 10 games to win 3.
